EVE Online - Catch All & new meat check-in

I certainly wouldn't say no to a freighter alt but I would feel bad not paying for it and Wink posted first so he gets dibs.

edit: not to mention that character has some nice gunnery skills too

First off...thank you so much for the generous donation to my isk balance. That saved me about 2 weeks of ratting. Thank you very much.

second...I am in a decent null sec corp if you want to send me msg I can tell you more about it. We are trying to carve out a place for ourselves down south...since we got messed over up north. We were members of MH, but that went to crap like...a month ago. We are still strong though.

I am back. Again.

As wiseman said: 'In EVE you don't cancel your subscription, your subscription cancels you.'.

Talk to Severi Erkko in-game sometime.

Fly safe, o/

Hey y'all, playing this again after a long spell, since they gave me five days off. Reaquanting myself with the intricacies of scanning, since I wanna do wormhole stuff. After about 30 minutes, found a pretty mineral deposit.

Whee!

That is quite pretty! How are the latest expansions treating you?

Not sure yet, I did hate the CQ, but I'm glad I can turn that off. New stuff like nebulae and such will be apparently coming at the end of the month.

They're adding engine trails back in! =)
Also a new warp effect

I have week 2 of vacation coming up, and seeing as I'm all done hosting for the holidays, I think it's time to poke my head into the EVE Online universe. I'm downloading the client now, which I bought as Incarna and is now up to Crucible. We'll see how this goes!

You really need someone to guide you through the beginning or chances are you'll get lost. I'm not on much atm because it's christmas, but you could drop by the Rock Paper Shotgun corp's channel “RPS Community” and they'll help you.

Resubbed to check out the changes, liking what I see so far. I'll check out the RPS community.

I'm looking at coming back myself now that free time exist again, does anyone have one of those juicy 60 day trial codes they'd be willing to hook me up with?

Edit: Many thanks to kyrieee for for spoiling me with one of these!

Someone in my corp found out that the main shield incursion community was doing a lowsec PvP event to celebrate something, and as it happened they picked a system very close to the one we base out of. Their rules were T1 cruisers only with no e-war and we initially thought about dropping something nasty on them, but then someone came up with the idea of using an Exequror gang which was within the rules so we went with that. It's not a particularly fearsome gang on paper, each ship only having about 130 DPS (all in drones), but it has pretty good RR capability.

The shield fleet numbered somewhere around 40 while we had 17 Exequrors in gang. As they started their free for all we jumped into system, warped on top of them and went to work. They quite quickly realized what was going on and started focus firing our gang. We lost one ship initially, but after that we were able to keep everyone alive despite some close calls in low structure. Exequror power! As part of the event a Chimera also jumped in which we went to work on after killing almost everything else on the field. It took a while but he eventually went down :d

I think we did pretty well for a lol-gang. The kb is unfortunately a bit bugged due to the initial free for all

Unfortunately my sec status dropped about 5 whole points hehe

epic...situations like that are what make this game awesome.

Oooh. I'd love one of these if there are any more out there. I've been burning through MMOs for awhile now trying to find one I really enjoy and EVE Online is the next one on my list since Rifts didn't really do it for me.

I dont have a sixty day thing, but if you find one and need someone to show you around, I spend my days carebearing in high sec. Name's Xandila.

Sent, I got one when I upgraded even though the account was made after so I'll pay it forward. General advice: Do the tutorials, take Zellbrige up on that offer.

Thanks so much! Can't wait to dive in to it later today.

I will most definitely be taking you up on that offer.

Hey Y'all,

Thought I'd pop in and say hey. I've been browsing this thread for about a month and have been back in EVE for a few days now. I only played for about 4 months and that was a few years ago, so everything is pretty new to me. I'm thoroughly enjoying it though!

I've got a lot of good tips reading through here and it's much appreciated. I've applied to EVE Uni, and am working my way through the tutorial story missions.

See you in the Black!

Say hello to me next time I'm on the GWJ channel, Weebey, and you might even get your GWJ'er welcome pack (my EVE char is called Elizabeth Lockley).

I'd never tried probing before this char and I find it exceptionally tedious. I understand the idea, I've watched the tutorial video, but even just moving them into place for the relatively easy in-game tutorials was quite a monotonous chore.

I know you can hold shift to move all the probes as a group, are there other tricks I may be missing or is the point that it's an annoying process?

It's mostly just an annoying process, just be aware that you're not just limited to moving all 5 probes in a static group. Holding shift also works to expand and collapse your ring of probes as well as expanding and contracting the scan radius.

Other than that it's just a matter of doing it enough that you get a feel for how much you can narrow your range on each successive scan without losing the signature.

I've seen you in the channel, I'll give a shout out.

I've managed to accumulate an entire fleet of ships, I can't even fly the Iteron on a trial sub, and about 1.5 mil ISK and I haven't exactly been frugal.

These new mission/story lines are great.

Unless your fleet is 62 ships strong, has 11 battleships, 2 marauders and a jump freighter, then it might not match the majesty of LizFleet

I'll take it!

I've got one more, be quick guys.

All set, thanks much!

lololololololol I thought I was a hoarder Lockley. I have 19 ships in my fleet. All sub-caps. still a respectable fleet though. everything except the Abaddon and the Drake is T2 or T3. I left Nullsec because I couldnt keep up with the war my corp was in...been raising my standings ever since.

So I learned how to fly Hulk. I want to try some proper mining. Where should I go, who should I talk to?

By proper I mean doing it in a big fleet with Orcas collecting cans, presumably in low-sec - at least that's what I heard from miners' stories.

If you find someone using an Orca in low sec you've generally found one of two things: Bait, or a moron.

What you're really looking for is a 0.0 corp that does mining ops, that's where you'll have fun with Orcas and Rorquals for support. Other than that you make just as much ISK for almost no risk in highsec. (Until the next Hullkageddon rolls around)
