Out with the New and In with the Old

Man, to think the amount of games I could plow through were I not so OCD about achievements. :neutral:

Same here though I do have a nice little logic path that helps me out:

if (multiplayerAchievements === true)
    DontWorryAboutAchievements();
else
    if (enjoyGame === true)
        MustHaveThemAll();
    else
        DontWorryAboutAchievements();

This is only kind of related, but I picked up Saints Row 2 this past week because it was super cheap. Started playing today and really enjoyed it, but it was pretty weird feeling to play a PS3 game that's new to me in 2012 without trophies.

You can put me down for finally finishing Bastion this month. Hooray for jumping on the pick of the pile bandwagon!

Finished it last night. Totally worth playing, cannot get the music out of my head.

Next Up, I need to work on completing Batman Arkham Asylum. I'm only a couple years behind on that one.

Finished up Costume Quest tonight. It was a fun little game, but it got a bit repetitive. It also made me long for part 3 of Penny Arcade Adventures.

3 games down this month, but what the hell, I'll try for 4.

This gap of no new releases worth playing is really helpful to the pile.

Darksiders (PC)

And yeah, before anyone asks... so far it's pretty good.

It is also a pretty quick and easy 1000 points Not as quick or easy as the last two Prince of Persia games though

Well, I'm bedridden for three days due to a nasty throat infection... So I'll be officially calling out Bioshock to be beaten in quick succession before the weekend crawls upon us. I'll be switching between that and Blue Dragon mostly to keep things fresh.

OUCH! double-post!

Sam & Max 201: Ice Station Santa is down.

Writing was pretty good, as usual, and the gameplay was pretty good compared to Season 1 (which I found obtuse and frustrating). Not sure whether it's actually better, or if I'm just getting better at playing TT games.

Brokenclavicle's convalescence is brought to you by the letter B.

Enjoy! (and get well soon).

EDIT:
Looks like my procrastination on Shadows of the Damned is working a treat. Dante's Inferno just fell. That is a great little game. Picked up the Death Edition cheap off eBay about 8 months ago, and just dropped it in on Saturday. 7 hours on the game clock, but I did some restarting at the beginning while I corrected a unholy alignment mistake I made. Another 3-4 hours, and the holy one should be done. Great set pieces, and well voice acted too. The CG cutscenes are pretty flawless too.

Puzzle Agent 2 is done! Fun game again, though with some of the puzzles I came away feeling that they weren't explanatory enough in what they wanted you to do. No biggie though. I think it was a bit shorter than the first one.

Also played and like Puzzle Agent 1. Is PA2 worth the $10 or should I wait for a 50%+ off sale?

I am a little late in announcing, but Trenched/Iron Brigade fell over the long MLK weekend. Was a lot of fun, really enjoyed the later missions and the general feeling of having a super powerful trench to cut through Tubes. Enjoyed the item descriptions as well, thought that was the funniest part of the game.

So after trying to slog through it last week, I've given up onPuzzle Quest 2. It is a very long game and has become a grind with very little reward. I also wasn't having much fun with it anymore, so that means it is time to let it go. In its place, I would like to substitute Orcs Must Die! for the PC (Steam).

Also, just as a housekeeping note, I'm listed for Puzzle Agent, however, I didn't declare that for this month. I would like to play it someday, but it isn't in the cards for this month.

Got sidetracked playing another Fallout walkthrough but...

Completed Rage, crappy game but its done

Glad you enjoyed it. I thought it was unfairly dismissed by a lot of players.

You burned through it faster than I did, although I also played on hard up until the final boss fight, which has a lot of bullsh*t it in it. You played through as an unholy character? That's probably good, because the holy path is ridiculously unbalanced. The cross eventually becomes so powerful that you can pretty much burn through everything with it, even on hard, especially when you get the ability that gives you a bunch of life for cross kills.

The scythe is pretty awesome. Very quickly in the soul tree it was upgraded with increased reach, and it has a good attack with Y held that throws all enemies around you into the air, rendering them harmless while you clean them up. I also Punished/Resolved all enemies as I encountered them, (even the low level ones) so I had a bank of Souls available as soon as that level unlocked. I picked my relics wisely too so as to maximise soul and XP bonuses. There's a fair bit of depth if you look for it, especially for a "hack and slash action platformer".

I'm doing the holy resurrection run on easy, just to do it quickly. Then the run through the Gates of Hell with a fully upgraded character should be fairly easy too. 1K here I come!

Le sigh...

Instead of playing Bastion I dropped in Rage last night to see if I could get the achievement for completing the Five Finger Filet minigame. Once that popped I noticed that I was only 2 achievement away from 100% (I need the ones for beating on Hard and Nightmare) so I started a new game on Nightmare. I don't share your views on this game though. It has issues but I enjoyed it almost as much as Borderlands (which suffers from a lot of the same issues but gets a pass because it isn't from Id). This is the best game Id has made since the original Doom IMHO. I was hoping for some DLC but it doesn't look like that will be happening.

Finished Broken Sword two nights ago. Wished I had played the original instead of the director's cut, to have gotten a more accurate representation of what it would have been like to play this game back in the 90's.

I'd wait for a sale. It's a good game, but very similar to PA1.

Well, I really want to finish Advance Wars: Dual Strike this weekend, but I've been beating my head against a wall with mission 24 (out of 28) for the last couple of hours. I hate it, when developers find no other way of increasing difficulty other than cheating.

I'm going to throw on Red Faction: Guerrilla. I probably won't beat it this month, but I'm going to give it a shot.

I'm trying for Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard to round out my fourth pile game for the month...

Fingers crossed!

Bastion is done - what a wonderful gem of a game. The music is especially poignant - didn't expect to love it so much.

Only good thing I can say about that game is that it gives up the gamerscore pretty quickly.

I just finished off Rage (100% of the achievements) and am thinking about knocking out 1 of the 3 play throughs of Gun that I will need to unlock all of its achievements (actually have to play through on each difficulty to get the achievements unless they updated it since I last played it).

No, just play on easy then do this for gun. Actually a pretty good game.

Sometimes that's all you need I think I'm getting more out of it as I'm actually imagining me playing GOB, playing Matt Hazard. I finish everything he says in my mind with some other phrase from Arrested Development.

Hey thanks for the tip. I played through most of the game on hard but the first part of the final boss fight is so cheap and horrible that I couldn't stand the idea of trying to do it on Insane as well. That cheat and the guides made it a non-issue to grab the others though. Now back to Bastion. Though technically I never started it so...

Just finished off Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga. Kept me busy the whole month. That was a lot of content for $20, especially considering it came with the soundtrack CD. I enjoyed the game -- it seemed to me like a cross between a lower-budget Oblivion and an old Xbox game called Enclave. I liked the soundtrack quite a bit, too. I'm letting Backloggery pick my next game.

And down goes Advance Wars: Dual Strike. Only played the standard campaign, don't care for the hard one, which I could unlock now. Cute little game, albeit a little unbalanced due to the CO powers. Hope the rumors are true and its successor Days of Ruin is a better game.

PS: I guess I mentioned it in one of my posts in here this month, but I never actually touched Chrono Trigger (DS). It'll remain on the pile for the foreseeable future.

Well, just finished off an undeclared pile game: Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World (PS3). It really only took me 2 more sittings and I blew through it, having a blast the whole time. It scratched exactly the right itch at the right time. I just wished you moved faster earlier in the game when your speed stat was lower. But still the buying items to increase your stats thing is pretty fun, but would be better if you could get to the stores a bit quicker / there were more in other levels.
The Mega Man references towards the end were great. A few MM2, and one track in the credits that was pretty much a MM3 ripoff.

Also, why would such a small game's credits take so long to roll, and not be skippable!?
