More of a placeholder as I didn't know where else to put it. No real details available yet.
So I followed the latitude and longitude coordinates on Google Maps. I might be doing it wrong, because evidently the answers to everything lies in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, right next to Thunder Bay Country Club.
That was a tantalizing tidbit - The music and ominous presentation made me cross my fingers in a hope that they'll step back from the dudebro-smellin' action slappy-jack forced-A.I.-partner stabba-crabba motifs of RE5 style to the (at least slightly) slower, more focused-on-scary-horror & exploration approach of RE4 (ah, Del Lago.)
Thunder Bay, Ontario certainly sounds like a suitable place to set off some T-virus love.
I've never cared for the story too much in the RE series, but I hope it is fun.
Pretty much shat my pants watching the trailer. Worrying though how many controllable characters there seems to be. I hope you'll be able to pick one from the outset kind of like RE2 and stick with them through the whole game. Either way I can already see myself dropping money on day one for this...
I miss scary Resident Evil games. This one looks like a decent action game, but I miss the series' early entries, cumbersome controls and all.
Interesting.
That guy certainly punched a lot of zombies.
This game'll probably sell me a Move.
I'm also a little worried about all the different characters. One section looked like co-op, which is neat and all but suggests we'll be jumping back and forth. One of my favorite things about the modern RE games the weapon progression and moving between multiple characters leads to delayed gratification.

Heck only one I've actually owned is RE4 Wii.
Played/watched some of the RE-makes on Gamecube back when various roommates around the time had them. Was never impressed enough to buy them myself.
Resident Evil 4 was a damn fine game, and probably makes my top 10 of all time list. I still go back and play it every now and again - even my wife loves watching me play that game and walks around saying "Whatcha buyin? Watcha sellin? ~lecherous laugh~" as a result.
RE5 looked disappointing all around and I avoided it. The demo was pretty craptacular IMO and was enough to scare me off. I'll keep hoping that they somehow manage to capture the magic of RE4 in RE6.

And I miss Resident Evil 4. Literally. My friend borrowed it 2 years ago, and I need to get it back. It's the only one I've actually liked in the series so far, and somehow I loved it, but can't be bothered with the rest.
Unfortunately, my wife doesn't find whaddya buying as funny as yours, michael.
I'll also note that I wish this was also a Wii U launch game (with controls, at least, aiming-wise similar to RE4 Wii) as it's coming out the week I'm predicting the WiiU to release in NA. Sadly, the trailer doesn't show it, so not holding my breath there.
Lastly, I loved that trailer for one good reason. It was an actual trailer and not some lame teaser. Good job, Capcom!
Don't rely on the RE 5 demo, because it did not impress me either. Resident Evil 5 was the only RE title that I finished. It was a damn fine game, and I even played through it twice.

Agreed. And I agree with the Mobster, in that I love the sense of progression in the RE titles, but having the story split into at least three viewpoints (characters) has me about as worried as the rest of the little gameplay tidbits in there made me feel giddy.
edit: Also, is Nolan North, Leon Kennedy?
I actually really liked the last game - played it through multiple times on everything except the hardest difficulty. Fingers crossed they do a PC version of this one as well, as their port of RE5 was excellent.
*** November for PC version according to RPS. Splendid.
Also, good to see an announcement trailer that's got a bit of gameplay meat to it and isn't just some ten second long CGI teaser with a bunch of logos.
Were the RE games ever really scary? Weren't the first few basically a collection of jump-scares and ominous camera angles bordered by Capcom's usual brand of poor writing, hilarious localization and a good helping of 'WTF'?
Yeah, the Gamecube remake of RE1. It was my first experience with the series. What's scary is totally subjective of course. My roommate claims to have never been scared by any movie or game, yet is a big horror movie fan.
No doubt I'll play RE6, but I don't think I'll fall for a non-sale purchase in such a crowded time of year.
I think maybe it's a conflict of definition. There are a number of 'psychological horror' games that synthesize mechanics, narrative, themes, etc... to create a very coherent, imposing, all-encompassing tone (say, something like Amnesia or I've heard Silent Hill). I don't like to play that kind of game too much. The REs I've seen are something different, more akin to slasher films (or, unsurprisingly, certain zombie films): A bit scattershot, heavy into the jump scares, occasionally going for the big body horror moment, but maintaining a palpable B-movie aesthetic to keep the mood somewhat light.
However, some of the action (in particular, Chris sliding into first cover) seems to suggest they're going with a more traditional shooter route.
On the one hand, RE games have lots of cutscenes and scripted scenes, and Capcom has never been shy about using that footage instead of gameplay in their more cinematic trailers. They'd also be idiots to abandon a new style of gameplay that they came up with, which was so good it essentially saved the franchise and made RE4 one of the most beloved games of the generation.
On the other, you're right, it definitely looks like that, and it wouldn't be the dumbest thing Capcom's ever done.
...I have a friend who collects Mega Man games. All of them.

RE games were always about jump scares, and those get old (and predictable) pretty quickly. Silent Hill (and Fatal Frame, and Condemned) were about creating an uncomfortable atmosphere you couldn't easily escape. They forced you to be somewhere that made you feel physically and psychologically dirty, and made you sit with those feelings and your own anxiety. That's why I can go hunting for gems to upgrade my magnum in RE4, but I will probably never finish Fatal Frame 3 even though it's a great game that delivers everything I love about that series.
And on that note, f*** Nintendo for not giving us the Wii Fatal Frame. Motion controls are PERFECT for that game!
That sounds pretty sweet ccesarano, except I don't really want to play that kind of game on a handheld. Especially not a failing handheld that is based on a gimmick I physically can't see.
Does it make heavy use of the 3D stuff?
That answers my question.

I perhaps should have said that I liked the series better when it was a survival-horror franchise rather than an action-horror one. It wasn't scary in the same way as Silent Hill or Fatal Frame, but it created tension by forcing the player to be very careful about where they went and what resources they consumed. They were the kind of games where you counted out your shots as you took them because you knew you only had so many bullets and couldn't afford to waste any. And don't forget the absolutely brutal save mechanic, the likes of which we'll probably never see again.
Again: I'm not saying that Resident Evil 6 will be bad. I liked Resident Evil 4 well enough. I'm just saying that the series used to be very different than it is now, and I like what it used to be a little bit better.

Considering the recent upswing in 3DS sales, I think it's hard to justify calling it failing.
Anyway, yeah, I'm really excited for Revelations. I miss the old style, too, but I do really like 4's action, and a smart combination of the two could be great. I'll have to check out that demo.
Oh, what, 6? Yeah, that could be cool, I guess. 5 ended up disappointing me, but not because you couldn't move and shoot. I liked not being able to move and shoot. It's what made Resident Evil 4 so special. The trailer for 6 was nice and all, but I'm keeping my expectations low.
Finally got around to trying that Revelations 3DS demo - not too shabby at all, I have to say. Had to turn off the 3D though.

There's always this: Spirit Camera : The Cursed Memoir
Granted, not a proper Fatal Frame game but it looks like it does some interesting things with the 3DS's AR stuff. Also - love the idea of exorcising ghosts crawling out of your coffee table
My first RE was 2 on the PS, but the first one I completed was the crappy PC port of 3 (Nemesis). It was really scary. I was out of all resources all the time and Nemesis on your trail was scary as all hell.
RE4 was so good (PS2) that it alone elevates the series to all-time classic status in my books. I co-oped 5 on 360 - it was a really good action game, although nowhere as good as the previous one. I've found both 4's and 5's setting very compelling.
All told, I'm interested in the new game, but not a must buy unless they do something... interesting. I would hope they'd make the partnering optional. Playing with a buddy can never be scary (fact!).
*On topic note, I'm excited for the game. RE5 was the first one I've ever finished without yelling swear words at my ceiling and hoping they drift somehow to the ears of Capcom designers. Also the first one I've ever finished without at some point saying f*ck it and looking on gamefaqs.
If they continue the series along the lines of 4 and 5 I'm totally in.
I can't unsee it! You monster!
That's hilarious
