MinPenCon 2012 - It was Zouper (and still a little Fedorable)

Mono, money sent.

Gunner, it's only a 6-8 hour drive from the DC area that's nothing.

And the fund is started... I'll have to get some clarification as to which size would be best but I am leaning towards the small so they would be about 3-4 months old when PenCon2012 rolls around.

I will be driving 6 hours from Syracuse with a baby. It works out in my favor that my wife's brother lives near there so it is an easy sell "Honey, we can play games all day Saturday and then we can visit with your brother on Sunday."

From DC to Cleveland? No way, it's way longer than that. Trust me, I've made the drive several times. It's easily 12 from out here in Dayton, so from a bit further west(but more north) it's probably around 10 if you're pushing it. Gotta figure in time for gas stops and pee breaks and all that jazz

?? Dayton to DC is about 8. If it takes you 12 you're going the wrong way.

6-8 is dead on for DC area to Cleveland with the range depending on how fast you drive and where in the DC area you start.

My buddy just moved to Restin VA and he has driven back several times over the holidays; he has it nailed between 6 and 8 hours depending on traffic and route. Posted speed limit is not maintained.

Yeah, gotta say you're off on that one Anime. Been awhile since I drove it, but I'd remembered about 8 hours as well. Just double checked on Google Maps and they're clocking it at 6 hrs 54 mins.

So i'm gonna come...but it is a requirement that we play the TI with the expansion...regardless of the length. As well, Carrot, whereabouts do you live in Michigan...I'm in Metro Detroit, we could probably work out some rides.

I live in Farmington Hills. I'm down for a ride share.

The best route is even less than that. Take 70 to 76, ride it on up to 80, straight into Solon. 6.5 hours.

See? Easy like Sunday morning.

Rest assured, we'll be playing TI with at least 8 people and both expansions.

Ok, its a plan. I currently reside in Clawson, a couple miles from the zoo.

Flossin in Clawson. We'll work it out close to the date. Didn't know you were out here! We'll have to get together sometime, or set up some Michigan thing.

I've no idea what TI is, but pick the right date (or wrong date, depending on your perspective), and I'll join you to find out.

Uh huh. Sure you will.

At this point I have to. If for no other reason than to test my theory that all these other people who claim to like you are actually just you posting under other logins...

That's fair.

I will most likely be attending... waiting on a Date! If it is AFTER April 9th there is no chance of a Hockey game. We sure as HELL are not making the playoffs Just Sayin'

Is this a one day event or a weekend event? if it's an all weekend dealio i could be tempted to come out from LA and meet you strange east coasters.

That's... tempting Cayne. I intended to just have it just be one day but if doing a Saturday-Sunday thing will get you there....

It would only cost a bit more to extend it a day. I'll think about it.

Cheeto, it will absolutely be after the 9th.

To be clear, I never claimed I like him.

I'm desperate; I'll like anybody.....anybody.

We can't have overlap with PAX East! That would just be bad planning.

I would be up for a 2 day event but then you might have to change the name to PenCon2012 Part 1.

We won't overlap with PAX East.

I'm almost really sure that Carg n I are coming along for MiniPen. One or two days should be fine.. Solon is neighbortown to my mother's house so we can always spend the night there if need be.
I'm trying to figure out how early I can make fudge beforehand.. how long does it last if it isn't eaten? Though maybe the bigger question is how early can I make it before temptation overrides?

Cheeto needs his OWN pan of Half Peanut Butter....half Mint Kthxbai

Stop tempting me you greasy, demon, seabird!

I'd like to put in my own order for a pan.

Also, fudge will last as long as you want if you freeze it.

That's just it; google maps times are driving time only and don't take gas stops into account. Most vehicles are going to take at least one, probably two gas stops between here and there. Throw in one or two stops for food and that's easily an extra hour and a half. So that takes it from 8 hours 40 minutes to just past 10 on its' own. Throw in traffic time(you will almost certainly hit rush hour somewhere) and that's an extra hour too, putting you around 11. Between my wife and I, we've made the drive 5 or 6 times in the last two years, and neither one of us is breaking the posted speed limit, including the myriad construction zones which drop you back below 60(most horrid in WVA around the tunnels).

TL;DR: Google maps time is strictly start and stop time; it doesn't account for real world stuff or safe driving practices, where I did, so YMMV.

I hear what you're saying AnimeJ. But from 7 hours to 12... well that's a heck of a lot of pee breaks!

Anime.... you totally make up for Peeing and Eating by BEATING the Google estimate.
