NFL 2011 Conference Championship Round

Telling stats: Ravens lined up 3 wide receivers on 8 snaps last week. Most of their snaps were a single wide out on each side of the formation running isolation routes. No wonder no one is ever open.

Did that take into account the tight ends?

The Ravens have three receivers on the roster?

I didn't realize until I saw the Rich Eisen Podcast on NFL Network's interview with Josh Charles (Sports Night, The Good Wife) that perhaps if Baltimore goes to the Super Bowl to be held in Indianapolis and wins it, it'd be a major thing for fans of the Baltimore Colts, perhaps exorcising the demons from when the Colts packed up and left under the cover of darkness. Yeah, when I go to actors for sports info, I go to Dan Rydell. EAT IT, SAM SEABORN!

I miss Sports Night so badly. I watch through the entire show on Netflix every few months.

One day, I'm going to make the Draft Day T-shirt.

What better way to promote the NFL overseas, then to schedule one of the league's worst teams to play there over the next 3 years.

New England vs St Louis is next year. #pats53-6

They did a special celebration on ESPN First Take this morning... the first show in months with no Tebow topics!

@MattSebek[/url]]Rams averaged 1.00 touchdowns per game last year. Arsenal averaged 1.81 goals per game. Get ready, England.

Should have an half time show featuring the Boston Tea Party re-enactment

The Saints have replaced Gregg Williams with Steve Spagnuolo as their new defensive coordinator. The reaction among fans seems positive; I'm curious to know what the educated minds here think. I'm just hoping for a more consistent defensive performance in next year's playoffs.

My response involved copious amounts of swear words. As a Bucs fan, I'd rather have Williams' blitz-happy system on the other side than Spag's. The Saints are simply continuing their trend of giving me reasons to hate them.

Spags was a great coordinator for the two seasons he did it. Or was. St. Louis may have damaged him. We'll see. Anyway, he learned from Jim Johnson, so I approve.

I'm pleased to hear that you're displeased. Though indeed your every word carries the foul miasma that is the inevitable result of your infernal allegiance to the Buccaneers, I've come to respect your insight into this sport very much indeed.

You know, my girlfriend of over three years is a native St. Pete girl and lifelong Bucs fan. Two weeks of the year require the most delicate diplomacy between us...

Alright, time to get my picks in before I forget.

Ravens vs Patriots
No offense, Ravens fans, but they did not impress me much last week. Had Houston had a quarterback, I think that would have been a much different story.

Giants vs Niners
I want the Niners to win, I really do. I also really think the Giants might be unstoppable right now. But who cares, I am going with my heart, not my head.

Great, Psych and I made the same picks. Can I change mine, please?

Patriots
Giants

I want the other team to win both games (although I don't particularly like the Niners either) but I don't think I'm going to get what I want.

Joe Philbin is the new head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

Who picked the Rams over the Dolphins in large part because they gave him a large amount of control over player personnel.

Gee, after having to field the teams Floyd Reese put together, I can't imagine why personnel control was such a sticking point for Fisher!

You better hope the Rams suck. If Fisher coaches winning teams that Fisher played a large part in putting together, the plate of crow you're going to have to eat will be too big to fit in these threads. (I bet he doesn't sign VY).

I like the top comment on the article. "Hello, Matt Flynn."

I'm a Chiefs fan living in St. Louis. A bad Rams team doesn't bother me, and sometimes entertains me.

But it really feels like the Rams are not a lot of moves from being really good next year. Injuries and some inept coaching forced them to step way back after a promising season two years ago. I really feel like solid coaching, getting some players back, and many of the younger players progressing will lead to a lot of wins. They won't overtake the 49ers, but I won't be surprised if they battle for a WC slot.

My picks:

Ravens at Patriots
Giants at 49ers

Brian Schottenheimer to the Rams as OC. Time to see if he sucks or Sanchez sucks.

Then cynic in me says they got the team that could afford to lose some gate revenue. And a team that's a relocation threat. Maybe they'll fall so in love with the Rams that the NFL expands into Europe.

The London Rams that's a long way from Cleveland?

When my wife asked if I wanted to go to a concert on 1/22 a few months ago, I didn't bother to check the calendar. I now have dinner reservations right when SF-NY kicks off. Realized this last night. @#$!#@$@!!!

This was not by mistake. She's a clever and manipulative woman.

Rams fans in St. Louis are in full meltdown mode. They were worried enough about the team going to LA. Plus, agreeing to give up three home games is kind of a kick in the face to local economy. No one is happy here at all.

And don't use the word "summoner." Women see through that sh*t.
