Whatever happened to Employee Profiles

Yes... Yes... This is a fertile land and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land and we will call it... Todd Land.

I think we should call it your grave!

Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

Ha ha ha, mine is an evil laugh, now die!

Ahh, no God! Oh, dear god in heaven!

The story behind "Toddland":

Back in High School I thought I was being clever by buying people's souls for a Rolo or a dollar or whatever change I had on me at the time. I would have them sign a contract and all. The selling point: If you know you're going to hell, why not come to Toddland instead? It's a cross between a casino, resort, and theme park. The REAL logic was that if I couldn't actually provide this post mortal coil, I would turn in all their souls for an upgrade. I started getting called this as a nickname. People just assumed that my name was short for Toddland.

Flash forward to 1998. I'd just been hired in my first game industry job as a level designer. My computer at the time was named "Toddland". On my resume, the document was titled Toddland.doc as the default would name it to whatever computer or drive you were on. I emailed them my resume, and they assumed that was my name as well.

My first paycheck was made out to "Toddland". I had to explain to them that it was not my real name. "It's a good thing you told as that AFTER you got hired" the HR person told me.

"Sephirotic" was named after the sephiroth on the tree of life, which was a passing fancy for me when I was setting up my online identity. I have more connection with Toddland than I ever did with "Sephirotic". People always assume it's a reference to Final Fantasy 7, which I've not even played...

Can't wait to see this summer's blockbuster: Todderman 4. I think the inexperienced director they picked could do some good work with it.

Now "skill tree of life" is a nonsensical tag! So much confusion!

I can't get no relief.

I am entertained.

For now....

Do your students know you just lost your gamer card? I'm also pretty sure that statement belongs in the gaming confessions thread, along with the explanation of your screen name choice.

It now refers to Toddland.doc

My only regret, is that I have but one Employee Profile to give to this site.

Or do I...

I know that I have at least two trying to get out. Or I ate something bad for lunch.

Whoever this is must post 1000 times and make their tag Attention Whore Part Deux.

Silver Spring and Silver Springs? Confusing.

Yes, I'm sure whoever that is, they're happy for the attention…

A donation logo IN the avatar. Oh how sneaky!!

Hah! I submitted that one to the gaming confessions thread LONG ago: it's a pic of the ff78 cover with the "I've never played it..." at the bottom.

I'm still considering selling my soul to Toddland.

Also, I've seen the look your students get when they hear that you never played FF7. It is pretty funny.

I should clarify: I finally played the first hour of FF7, got bored and quit.

Arise, thread!

So here we are, 22 profiles later, and I now appreciate why they lost momentum. Well now it's your turn.

If you'd care to nominate someone to be profiled on 12/28, go here and submit them. Nominations close on December 7. Please only "vote" once.

My name is Tanglebones, and I approve this message.

I don't see any rules prohibiting voting for myself.

Tanglebones killed employee profiles! One profile to rule them all!

I say take a break and come back once the holiday rush is over.

No can do. They won't give me the key to the executive washroom unless I complete 25 in a calendar year.

I've already got profiles planned for 11/30 and 12/14 (assuming they ever send me their answers) and figured this would be a fun way to fill the last slot.
