YES

Never spent much time there, but drive through (up 95 and west on 3) to get to my parents. Whereabouts is this magical place you speak of?

Here you go

I just gotta say, you may be near the mason dixon line, but as someone who grew up in northern Virginia, now lives in Richmond, VA and is married to a woman who would identify herself as southern, you don't live near southern culture. You don't really get to the 'south' until you pass the sweet tea line. There's actually quite a noticable difference from where I grew up and where I live now.

McDonald's offers sweet tea in Chicago. I would not be surprised to see it in Wisconsin.

Northern Virginia really needs to be it's own state.

They already did that, except they decided that the northernmost section of Virginia was "West."

You are aware that Illinois and Wisconsin do not matter at all, right? Same goes for McDonald's.

The "Sweet Tea Line" as an actual statistical study was based on McDonald's options.

As for your dismissal of the Midwest ... you know what? I don't have to cite statistics. "Scoreboard."

I know you don't, and I don't either because the Midwest doesn't matter.

And that McDonalds study (2004) was done before their sweet tea was a advertised franchise wide (2007/8?) offering. I may be wrong on this one. I haven't really been into a Mcdonalds for much other than breakfast while going to some destination since '96.

Most of the folks I know in Northern VA would love to separate from the rest of Virginia. This is mainly because for every $1 they spend in state taxes, they get back fewer than 75cents in state services. The rest ends up building bridges across the James River or highways out to West Gluteousfornicate. And considering how truly borked traffic is around NoVa and the complete lack of any infrastructure funding to solve it, the Arlington, Clarke, Culpeper, Fairfax, Fauquier, King George, Loudoun, Prince William, Spotsylvania, Stafford, and Warren county area would absolutely LOVE to secede from the tyranny of Richmond.

Just remember to stick to the FROZEN Carl. You don't want to accidentally order the HOT Carl.

It's all context. If you ask for an "Arnold Palmer Half & Half" in Thailand, you end up with an empty wallet and a head full of conflicted feelings.

Did you take an arrow to the knee? That's why she wouldn't marry me...

Marry? Hell, Lydia will barely even talk to me, much less discuss marriage.

Shame, too, as I rather liked her voice. Wish she had more than three lines.

Cheeze, thanks for the tip about Albion's Seed. I snaked it from the stacks and have been reading it on my lunches. I'm not a historian so I can't vouch for its accuracy, but in attempting to provide proof of his thesis, the author ends up painting a pretty thorough picture of the four American cultures. Fascinating stuff.

Lydia is so sarcastic when I ask her to carry stuff! Why, Lydia, why must you hurt me?

'welcome! Glad you're enjoying it!
