SPAZ - Space Pirates and Zombies (SPAZ2 EA on Steam!)

I honestly do not see why I had to use a cloaked ship for that. It would have been far easier to roll in, obliterate everything, and take the target.

You actually can, if you do it stealthily. As long as you don't run your stealth meter all the way out, you're free to destroy ships as much as you like.

I unlocked the Big Brother last night and it's really cool. Have a disruptor cannon on the turret, fighter drones and 2 cannon boosters and it really is a beautiful way to bring destruction to my enemies. Still getting whomped if I try and take out a level 3 UTA space station, but I assume I'll need to wait for my HUGE ship for that.

I really like this game. Can't wait for the new bounty hunter patch.

Well I've unlocked all the ships now and been having a blast blasting... you know.. the things which start with Z.

Have to say, Carrier, loaded up with some of those rapid fire cannons and a boat load of cannon boosters pretty much melts anything in my way. Love this game. So much fun!

You know, it's not a spoiler if it's in the title.

Pirates?

Ze Pirates...

Ok, so without going into too many details, I'm in chapter 4 and it's got a lot harder. I can still melt ships with my Carrier, but I'm not sure what to do with my Large, Medium and Small ships... I've unlocked every weapon and ship and I'm trying to figure out a good combination.

I've gone down the cannons approach, but have beams at around 7 as well. Subsystems are still at 0 and same with drones... was thinking of maybe upgrading them so I could use bigger drones, or go with a point defense. I find the biggest problem I have now is critters and "Ze Pirates" infecting my smaller ships.

What's the best way to deal with those? Anyone got a good config for that final chapter? Also, any strategies?

Anyone got a spare SPAZ coupon from the holiday sale? Was going to pick it up on Greenmangaming last week, but you can't activate it on steam (sadface).

Had some issues with that too. Good strategy is to upgrade your crew size, and even level up crew, so that they will fight off infection.

And yeah point defense can help shoot things down before it gets to be a problem.

I like to run with an all particle cannon fleet so I don't have to worry about combined arms tactics. In an area heavily infested with Zed, I'll drive the smallest ship and use it to 'sweep' the hijackers off of the NPC controlled units. It's a strategy that works for me. It's also a good one for stealth missions where I have big boys run off to the corner of the map so they don't get in the way and I can weave through the infested terrain.

Well that's what I'm currently running with as well. Carrier with 3 huge particle cannons, 1 huge tractor beam on the front and everything else is cannon boosters.

Was wondering if I should use mass drivers, but then thinking of how to get past the shields first. Particle Cannons seem to be doing a good enough job of destroying stuff.

My other ships are the big brother, the hound and a colt all loaded with Particle Cannons.

Done. Clearing out the zombie infection took ages, but I was rewarded with a nice little achievement. Also, the last mission was pretty damn easy.

Now I'm waiting for the new patch so I can have some fun with the new ships and bounty hunters.

SPaZ has really sucked me in like no game has done for a long time.

Currently I've worked my way up to tech level 28 or so and I have a right hook with 3 overload emitters, and a reactor booster module. It's working pretty well, I can take out most medium ships with about two shots.

I'm not sure I'm doing things right. It's been a rough slog trying to get my mothership upgrade, There were a bunch of high 20 gates in the way. I fought my way past the highest, but I've still got about 4 more hops to go.

Not sure I'm doing things right. I've got a whole bunch of unallocated research points. I'm saving them for when I finally get blue prints.

I think your on the right path. At one point, I had about 50 unallocated research points. Once I spent them all on engine and reactor upgrades, I wish I had spent them earlier but I was cruising so it didn't matter that much. I found that choosing one weapon type (for me it was cannons) and ignoring the other weapons and concentrating the rest of my tech on engine, shield, armor, reactor, boosters, etc. was a good strategy. Your mileage may differ.

Also make sure to deploy specialists. If your roster is full, trash the ones you don't use them for a nice data boost.

Malor is right, this game is a lot more fun than it has any right to be.

How do I do that? I filled up a while ago, but can't figure out how to dump them.

Little trash can icon in the window beside them.

I'm actually actively avoiding this game so I don't get sucked in, so that I can enjoy some other games. Maybe I should just give in. But on the other hand, I have a feeling I"ll start staying up late if I start playing again.

Took me 27 hours from start to finish. I really enjoyed it and ended up around level 130 or so.

I'm planning on jumping back in once the bounty hunter patch hits in Feb. So if you don't want to get sucked in just yet, maybe wait till the patch hits and start then.

Good times, replaying on veteran with a small galaxy for the extra challenge.

I gave in. And of course, I played almost and hour longer than I was going to do. I just cleared the gate to go to my first system with a Titan Gate. But I did get some level 5 engine tech which sped me up a lot.

Coming soon...

I'm really looking forward to them releasing some modding tools. It's a ridiculously simple game to mod, they should just hurry up and release something to decompile/recompile their cs.dso files.

This is an update and not DLC, right?

There's now a date! (Also, more details on what the Bounty Hunters will be like. Sounds very cool.)

This patch will integrate itself into an existing save game, but we recommend finishing your current play through of vanilla SPAZ and starting a new one with Bounty Hunters on March 19th. Progressing through the galaxy with this new menace completes the game and should adjust the feel enough to make a new playthrough worthwhile.

Both of us immensely appreciate all of you allowing us to make our dreams come true by purchasing SPAZ and this expansion is the thanks for that. It took a lot longer than expected, but you guys and SPAZ are worth it, so we did it. We hope a lot of you can tell your friends about this dropping March 19th so previous players and even new players don't miss out on the new experience!

Now back to tuning for us See ya March 19th!

It's a free update, yep.

Awesome. Back to the pile this goes, haha. Just like The Witcher 2. They keep pushing back playing it for me.

Woot! Can't wait to see the new ships in action.

I'm at level 46 and I just got into the core worlds. Are there any missions upcoming that are points of no return? I like to leave my options open.

You will hit a point where you go forward and yes... you can't go back... kinda.

Which mission is that?
