I hope they find this asshole and drag him behind a vehicle.

From what I understand the propeller went into her brain, so she may have bigger concerns.

Gentleman douses woman in gasoline and ignites her over $2,000.

Not sure how he expected to get his money back that way.

Speaking of elevators in NYC, this woman is a very close cousin of one of our writers. She's pretty distraught.

Also, I may be a bit leery of leisurely stepping onto elevators in the near future.

I don't think he expected his money back. I think he just wanted to torture/kill her as revenge. Anyway, he'll get his free meals in the can now.

Pretty mild by comparison, but the woman trapped in this one is my wife:

Nah, that's entirely horrible. Unless they go the route of the Hensel twins.

Did everyone have to climb out through the hatch or were they able to bring the elevator back up?

They got hatched by the Fire Department, eventually.

Man steps on elevator on elevator, soaks woman in flammable liquid, then sets her on fire with a molotov cocktail. The victim was a 64 year old lady. This happened yesterday in Brooklyn.

He has been indicted, and is being held without bail.

Man has 180 lb tumor removed.

It's a CNN link, but be warned, what has been seen cannot be unseen.

Loggers in Brazil captured an eight-year-old girl from one of the Amazon's last uncontacted tribes and burned her alive as part of a campaign to force the indigenous population from its land, reports claimed last night.

Thanks to the tens of fans that clamored for its return, Fear Factor is back and they've upped their game. This Monday's episode features

teams of twins drinking the full glass of donkey semen -- with a glass of urine thrown in for good measure. Contestants had to drain both glasses in order to move on to the next round.

Shockingly, a few NBC executives were apprehensive about airing the episode. Then they realized ratings trump human decency and gave it the go ahead. Makes you wonder how they harvested the ingredients, maybe they employed the cast of the cancelled show, The Playboy Club.

You, shut your mouth. That show was going to be genius.

That's really lowbrow. The nadir of modern television. BTW, when is that episode on?

So what used to be extremely fringe porn buried in the remote depths of the net is now prime time tv?

I think we know how they will script the next season's episodes. Too bad the dwarf Gordon Ramsey porn double is deceased. Eaten by badgers. True story.

I ignored almost every post on this thread just to say thank you for changing the title (never saw the original, and I don't want to). Even though the thread was started several moons ago, obviously the threads get re-exposed regularly.

This is one of the things I HATE about modern connectivity. It allows news outlets to reach everywhere, keeping everyone informed of the most horrific, sadistic and depressing pieces of news, never mind how improbable it is likely to be repeated in your life. For a variety of psychological reasons, people love to eat that sort of sh*t up, and so the outlets increase the delivery of it because sensationalist news sells better.

The news gets echoed and amplified until a cresendo of misery is reached and people become honestly paranoid of living life because of some completely random and tragic piece of news. The signal gets over-promoted until it seems that people everywhere are getting brutally murdered or raped or mauled or die tragically in a fire/crash/combine/thresher incident.*

There's enough darkness in the world without me having to want to digest more of it, so I appreciate being able to skim a forum/news site and know what I shouldn't click on without being devastated by the headlines.

*Aside: I think it fascinating how news of Krakatoa was disseminated around the world, and how drastically things have changed in 'breaking news' today. Oddly enough, in lieu of these infrequent, improbable and often bizarre tragedies (which I am guessing this was one of), I'd rather see more attention paid to the greater misery being perpetrated on people, like genocides. Maybe if the signals weren't buried so easily, people would be more motivated to act on something occurring 'outside of their backyard.'

FOX turned into a hardcore porn channel so gradually, I hardly noticed.

I don't see much to disagree with here, really. When I see a new story here I have a bit of trepidation about clicking on it, because you never know what horrors will be inflicted on humanity next. I can see how this thread could be interpreted as wallowing in the details of lurid stories of human misery, but as I said early on, I have no one to talk about these things with in real life, and reading other goodjers' takes on these stories provides helpful perspective. To me this is more about sharing "WTF is wrong with this world?" items, a way to commiserate with other cynical people.

Los Angeles teacher charged with lewd acts

In the fall of 2010, a drugstore photo technician was running a batch of 35-millimeter film when a disturbing image tumbled out of the machine — a child, blindfolded with a white cloth and gagged with clear packing tape. From that first photograph, detectives spent the next year following a trail that led them to a South Los Angeles elementary school.

Placing a 3 inch long Madagascar cockroach on their faces and mouths was one of the nicer things he did to his students.

Girl gets life in prison for 2009 "thrill kill" of a 9 year old neighbor.

She was 15 when she committed the murder, she's 18 now. This is what she wrote in her diary, just after she killed the little girl:

"I strangled them and slit their throat and stabbed them now they're dead," Bustamante wrote in her diary, which was read in court by a handwriting expert. "I don't know how to feel atm. It was ahmazing. As soon as you get over the 'ohmygawd I can't do this' feeling, it's pretty enjoyable. I'm kinda nervous and shaky though right now. Kay, I gotta go to church now ... lol."

FTA: Bustamante then headed off to a youth dance at her church while a massive search began for the missing girl.

I think that's the worst news I've read so far in this thread

If you're one of those kids' parents, how do you not lunge at the bastard the moment you see him and rip his jugular out with your own teeth?

He needs to be put down.

Father (term used loosely) punches his 3 month old baby to death to stop it from crying.

The child had a 2.5" skull fracture.
