NCAA Football 2011 Season Catch-All

Good job BCS. We get the same game we saw two months ago.

Only much more boring, and (it appears) that the national champion will have not won their own conference or division in their conference. What a craptacular game. One of the only fun things about the bowls is watching your conference beat up on other conferences. No more in-conference rematches in any bowl game -- even the national championship (unless there is a playoff involved too).

So if first LSU had beat Stanford and Alabama had beaten OSU, we wouldn't be hearing these complaints, right?

I don't know, I'm having a pretty good time watching huge defensive linemen reach out and pull down 200 pound running backs.

The LSU Golden Girls are the highlight of the game.

Holy sh*t, Jefferson looks terrible. He needs to go like now.

That was terrible. This sucks.

EDIT: Big boy football sucks. Absurdly errant passes, missed field goals, backwords receptions.

Not sure if these defenses are that good or these offenses are that bad....

If I hear him say honey badger one more time I'm going to blow my brains out.

I'd say that the defenses are just that good. Their offenses are scoring just as many points as exciting teams like Oregon and OSU in almost every other game this season.

I think both teams shut down OSU's one dimensional offense just like they shut down Arkansas.

No point in playing that game to find out, I suppose.

It would spoil the fantasy.

I have to say that, aside from the injuries, I've really enjoyed this so far.

A touchdown after 7.5 quarters + OT. Wow.

Now someone brought this up earlier and I think it's in play. I wonder if anyone is remembering that Alabama played one less game since they didn't even make their conference championship. There was speculation that that could affect LSU.

Really LSU play calling? Screen...screen....option...run....screen...sh*tty pass attempt...screen...option.

Some of the worst offensive play calling I've ever seen in any football.

Feels just like the last game these two teams played. Scared to throw, didn't challenge or stretch the defenses at all. It's like the legend of how great the defense supposedly was scared the sh*t out of both coaches and they never even tested to see how good they were.

Missing that PAT was strategic. It makes the score look like it was all touchdowns. Someday someone looking at a record book will think it was an offensive performance for the ages.

I'm all for playing it, but Saban won't return my calls and Mike Gundy already thinks he's won a National Championship.

The system gave us the two best teams. OSU blew it against Iowa State and lost their shot.

I have a feeling the system is toast after tonight. Hopefully in the near future we won't have to play the hypothetical matchup game. It still won't help the PAC and Big 9 until those conferences start playing some defense.

I have a hard time believing that a conference championship more than a month ago can cause the until-now top team in the country to completely disintegrate (mostly on offense).

Until they up their grey shirting as well.

Also, what carries more bragging rights in the SEC? Winning your conference or the title?

Is now a good time to remind everyone that Jordan Jefferson was arrested before the season for kicking a Marine in the head while he was on the ground?

If there's one thing the NFL has taught us this year, it's that God takes an active hand in the lives of certain quarterbacks.

Except the QB was the offensive MVP after going 23 of 34 for 234 yards.

Nope. At least that way I can have the pleasure of watching two SEC teams beating two teams from other conferences first. Like I said, if we had a playoff, then this arbitrary "who gets to play in the championship" crud would not be an issue. Sure 4 is not fair to #5, but there's less argument when it really is decided on the field.

The Bachelor and Castle were good tonight.

That's tough because usually you have both. It's such a screwed up situation. I felt Bama was probably the better team last time they played, but LSU got away with one.

Winning the SEC isn't as huge a deal when the East is as down as it was this year and you're playing some of you're best games inside of you're division (and I'd argue in LSU's case OOC). It's not like LSU had to beat an Urban Meyer/Spurrier Florida team, or the Vols during the 1990's.

Fed call it what you will, but karma can be a Female Doggo sometimes. Makes me wonder what A&M did to deserve last season.

That was simply the worst I have ever seen a football team play over the period of 60 minutes. Jefferson should have been benched after the 1st quarter. But I don't blame him, he can't help that he is totally inept, that's just an accident of genes. This was totally on the shoulders of Les Miles. I have quite simply lost all coaching respect for Miles. One of my best friends is a college coach over on the west coast and he called me after the third quarter saying "what the hell is wrong with your coach? Was he in a horrible car accident today and lose all reasoning ability?"

LSU played so terrible that not only did they deserve to lose, but they should have to give back the SEC championship and give it to Alabama.

Pretty much. That game was awful to watch, but dear god, LSU looked unbelievably inept. Kent State and Georgia Southern scored more points. North Texas had more yards.

Sounds like I made the right move playing Saints Row 3 last night!

It looked to me like LSU brought the exact same game plan from the first game to this one. A team that made a living moving the ball down the field, reduced to quick screens and other "at the line" type plays that they refused to move away from despite Alabama blowing up every single time -- in BOTH games. If they had actually tried to challenge Alabama down the field, some of that closer stuff might have had a chance of slightly working. The offensive plan by LSU was just that -- offensive.

When you get right down to it, both games were pretty similar (which certainly doesn't help counter the "we already saw this game" crowd) except this time, Alabama made their field goals. I know it’s a sports cliché to say “we didn’t lose, we beat ourselves,” but that’s more true than usual in the first meeting.
