PAX East 2012 Catch All & GWJ Meetup

Last year I could have used Friday to play more of the games. That's one of two reasons I want to get there Thursday night. So I can meet up with people and eat food and socialize and have fun, and so I can wake up Friday and start playing games before a lot of folks attending have even entered Boston.

Chances are I'll still skip on by some of the bigger games like I did last year. Nonetheless, was nice to have a chance to play Hunted: The Demon's Forge. Had I not tried it I might have actually bought it on sale, and then I'd have a crap game in the pile.

I shall forever hold out my dreams that PAX will get Machinae Supremacy to play, too, instead of The Protomen (who aren't bad, just aren't as good).

I missed out on the 3-day passes, but I did grab a Friday and a Saturday. Eagerly looking forward to seeing everyone (again)!

I think the only thing you really lose out on Friday is smaller crowds in the Expo hall. Well, that and an extra day of PAX stuff to do.

I've not really enjoyed Friday the last two years; I tend to spend the day working, and show up mid-afternoon/early evening. Not a terribly big deal to miss out, especially since I'm mostly interested in taking a tour around the floor and then settling in with some board games somewhere.

What's the Goodjer schedule looking like?

I will be there from Thurs night till Sun early Sunday evening (dependent on flight schedules). You will find me in the boardgame area most of the time after Fri morning (walking the floor).

This might be a bad time to ask this BUT, are there any 3 day passes that have been ordered but won't/can't be used. I told a buddy if mine I was dragging him to this thing; he finally got around to requesting off work but, I don't know if he ordered his passes yet. I will check with him tomorrow to see if he did.

What we need is a Goodjer Facial Recognition Packet, as I have no idea what you guys actually look like.

Update: Well he didn't order them and went ahead and got the Fri/Sat package. Good enough I guess.

The trick we used last year was to indiscriminately yell out, "weiner bomb!"

I've got my actual brown Stan fedora, but that only works when I'm not working. Does anyone have any better idea than the Stan badges?

I'm telling you, a Goodjerbook. Wouldn't be terribly hard to create a thread with our faces, and the post-PAX photoshopping would be incredible.

We usually post the pics from the Slap and Tickle for that. If you go back to the previous year's threads you can see them.

For the board game area I have been thinking about some kind of flag to clip to the back of a chair. That way it is super portable and gets it above the crowd for others to see. Oh and I don't think anyone else does this, so it will be unique.

I like that idea a lot. It'd be pretty simple to print Stan on double sided cardstock and tape it to a thin dowel or something. Do you want to make it Tigerbill or should I?

Feel free to make one yourself; I am still in the conceptual stage and will be shopping around for ideas.

Boo. We need industrial work safety signs, to ensure that we're well marked. I suggest this:

Speaking of board games. I'm looking forward to another round of BSG, preferably without the creepy rando looming over the table half the time!

Lol, Good times. I think we have a picture of him during that game too. Can we have it so one player isn't both Cylons this time. Either way I will be spectating rooting for the demise of the humans.

I've gotten more mileage out of that story...

I actually had a pretty lousy BSG experience recently, so I'm a bit less enthusiastic to give it another go, but I might be persuaded, by peer pressure & social lubricants

Verified Human Gaius Baltar guarantees you will have an enjoyable cycle Human Friend!

I was hysterically close to giving that guy an atomic robowedgie and blaming the jetlag.

Have all the fun PAX East Goodjer Boardgame Massive. I will miss you.

...but, but, but, now who will provide the dreamy accent? Is Dan coming?

Does anyone else remember the woman with the Welsh accent at the "Pitch your game idea" panel last year? The panel's reaction was priceless.

EDIT: Might have been Scottish. I'm not great with accents and it's been a while.

Welsh accents aren't dreamy.

Ioan Gruffudd could be reciting the Gettysburg Address and it would sound dreamy to me. But that might have a complicating source.

Second on the call for BSG. I'll bring my copy and I'll do my best to not be a double Cylon this time. I plan to bring 7 Wonders and Battleship Galaxies as well.

Yes please!

Not sure what my exact plans are for PAX East in terms of the various areas, but I love me some 7 Wonders.

This was an interesting moment last year where I was deciding how much I wanted to yell "WEINER BOMB" by the TOR booth before people started looking at me funny, then I met Tigerbill and Tanglebones.

I think what we need are hats! and flags!

Mrs. Mono and I will be in the table top area with baby Mono (who likes to help me play my cards with drooly fingers...)
