CNN cuts Ron Paul interview to look like he storms off.

CNN does some pretty unethical stuff here imo.

When I posted about it on twitter I received an unexpected tweet. Fair and Balanced!

Yeah, they twisted that one a bit much. He probably was mad though as he has been answering the same damn questions for so long.

That's going to happen when all of you content is created by random people on the internet. If CNN is still a news organization, then so is Facebook.

I'm glad this was exposed. The initial CNN version seemed very odd as it looked like the reporter literally ran up and blitzed him with newsletter questions. I kept wondering why they didn't bother asking him about anything else in his campaign, which shows viewers exactly why he has so much support.

Instead of shills for the government in general, you should listen to shills for the Republican Party.

Wow, just ... wow. I originally thought he had just made a mistake, but this is ridiculous. I can't believe CNN was ham-handed enough to hand him such a powerful piece of information. I also wonder how the uncut interview got out there.

wow...then again, not too surprised really.

You guys really want to see a Bircher in office? Seriously?

C'mon Robear, we already have a thread for that. This is about one of the most-respected multi-national news outlets showing a complete and utter lack of journalistic integrity through blatant editorializing. Whether this happened to Paul or Obama this would still be unpardonable.

Right... Robear, this is a news outlet that very deliberately lied to you about what happened at an interview.

Whether you like the candidate or not, this is absolutely inexcusable, and it means CNN is not trustworthy as a news source. Ever, not just about Ron Paul.

I guess you only need one person working there to either be a Paul supporter or just to have a reasonably developed sense of "this is bullsh*t".

We know you don't like Paul and this conversation is about CNN's integrity. Why bother posting if you don't have anything of substance to contribute? How would you feel if this happened to the candidate you support?

Why bother posting if you have not nothing of substance to contribute? We know you don't like Paul and this conversation is about CNN's integrity.

I picked the wrong thread, 93, I didn't run over your dog. Being the third to slam me, I have to wonder whether you've got anything of substance here. My posting was a mistake...

I would be horrified if they'd done this to John Birch himself.

It's not good, no. It's surprising because he's got plenty of documented positions that don't resonate with the mainstream. But as someone noted, the knives are out.

I replied to your post assuming it was intended for this thread. That's far from a slam, Robear.

Can't say I'm surprised. I don't trust any "news" source anymore.

I don't think we should downplay this. Lots of people get their news from CNN and it's generally considered relatively reliable. At least it used to be. I stopped reading it due to their war/Iran coverage. That and the fact their top 10 stories always had at least 3 about autism.

That said, it's hard to say CNN is biased against Ron Paul when they actually gave him some air time (funny joke).

Right. So....honestly....where are we supposed to find news now?

THis is for another topic but it seems that journalism is dead. I can't trust anything I read. What media outlets are you guys using that you "trust"?

This is unacceptable. This is like Paterno not following up on molestation charges. It's like Ohio State offering illegal gifts to players. It's like bankers inventing money out of thin air and then taking your house. This is wrong on a fundamental level. It isn't a gaffe.

If your favorite car manufacturer built a car that had a tendency to explode when Phil Collins songs played on the radio would you ever trust any of their cars ever again? THey failed at the ONE thing they are supposed to do.

I never trusted them in the first place but this is so casual it amazes me. The news media doesn't even care if you catch them lying anymore because they know that you know that they are ALREADY lying (or you are too stupid to tell the difference and are thus the demographic they are trying to reach).

*sigh*

I came to terms with getting most of my political news from The Daily Show and Colbert Report. Also, forums like this one.

youtube.com/theyoungturks

Wait, I can't trust CNN!? Where am I going to find the most insightful tweets about inane topics?

To be helpful, I'm with Slacker. Most of my news comes from this very forum. Some of the topics have very awesome people like PhoenixRev in the Gay Marriage thread, or Edwin in the OWS thread, that trawl through a lot of information to give us highlights and links. The others have useful information, links, discussion, and analysis from the community as a whole. While this forum is (rightfully?) critiqued for being heavily liberal, I think that there is a wide enough spread to generally get at least one person posting links and sources from multiple sides of the issue.

I also watch Daily Show and Colbert Report, and find that they are a better place to go for news than many other places. I have heard good things about BBC though, so maybe I should start using them more. I don't use MSNBC very much because back when I did use them years ago they had inflammatory and often flat out incorrect headlines on their website. I don't know anything about their cable coverage other than conservatives think that they are way liberal, which isn't exactly a scathing indictment IMO.

Edit: Oh, and I also like NPR, which reminds me, I need to set my phone to record some of their podcasts.

I have added Zelda: Skyward Sword and Forza 4 to my list.

I considered including Kirby's Epic Yarn, which was also a christmas present, but it may be just a bit too overloaded with sweetness for me. Honestly, I feel like a pedophile when I play it.

NCAA 12 and Deus Ex: HR got the axe.

I wondered where that went when it failed to show up in the GOTY thread.

Keep a salt shaker handy. And just let your eyes glaze over whenever you hear the words "Freedom, Democracy and the Rule of Law". Recited by rote whenever they interview anyone and everyone to the point that it almost becomes as meaningless as "uh huh".

I hear Al-Jazeera is a pretty good source, as long as the news isn't about Qatar. Of course you need to be careful to whom you recommend it, as its name is dangerously foreign.

I love GWJ.

My liking for the BBC has dropped off sharply after their breathless cheering for the Libya conflict, carefully omitting that NATO explicitly violated what it said it would do. We said 'impose a no fly zone', but what we actually DID was to conduct a full air war.

And they never pass up a chance to speak poorly of Iran.

It comes from an unusual perspective, but one of the better news sources I know is Al Jazeera. They have a pro-Arab slant, which you'd expect, but it's very educational to read it, because their slant is SO obvious to a Western eye that it highlights the slant in Western media. And I think they're a lot more honest in their reporting than most Western outlets. From what I can tell, you can really trust the facts you get from them, and they seem good about separating the facts from their analysis OF those facts. Those analyses, which are largely absent from modern Western media, will expand your perspective a LOT, even if you completely disagree with them. I often do, but I usually learn something in forming the disagreement.

I also really like some of their reporters... they get in there and do real journalism. It's kind of a new thing in the Arab world, and they're taking it seriously.

as long as the news isn't about Qatar.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that, thanks.... will keep it in mind.

Yeah, you'll need to go elsewhere to satisfy your overpowering thirst for news on Qatar.

This thread reminds me of this:

The Daily Show and Colbert show you the news through a lens every bit as tinted as what you'll get from Fox or CNN. The only difference is that they do it for comedy effect, not (or less) for ideology. I mean, it's a good place to be informed of the goings-on in the world, not so much accurate details of them.
