Peter Jackson directs "The Hobbit"

Jersey Shore dwarf, obviously. "We call it A Shore. A SHORE!!"

I can't believe I'm about to type this but: Kili's kinda hot. Yowza.

Is it because he looks like a long-haired cross between Garrett Hawke and Hugh Jackman?

Quite possibly. What can I say? I have a type: Dark, bearded, and handy with a broadsword.

I bet they'll even find a sexy way for him to crawl out of his wine barrel, soaking wet and starved.

Watching those video blogs are painful. It is easier to be patient for this movie when I don't get little tastes of it.

So the movie has a Facebook page with all the photos thus far.

Dev Diary #3: All about beards and smokin' hot dwarves.

So much goodness.

Another fantasitc video blog (although I am disappointed it is focusing on 3D so much)

Orlando Bloom confirmed to make an appearance. All the purists say whaaaa?!

Come on! How else are they going to take a book that is 1/4 the length of any of the three books in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and turn it into two movies without some pretty heavy modifications?

I look forward to seeing Legolas surfing down the river when the dwarves escape from the elven city. Sigh.

Was Legolas supposed to be out of the country when the dwarves went through his Dad's Kingdom? Seems like he could totally have a (short!) cameo there.

My wife will probably approve this modification.

He just isn't mentioned at all. But yeah, I'm sure the fact that a large part of the movie takes place in his homeland was too juicy an opportunity to pass up. Edit: And I don't know what retro historical explanation Tolkien gave, if any, about what Legolas was up to before LotR.

Have a little faith. It's Jackson. I'm sure he'll just be leaping from tree to tree. Like a lumberjack.

John Howe has grown an amazing beard. It was a lot smaller on the LotR shoot. I love the way that he and Alan Lee are so chummy.

That video made me very very excited to see this in 3D. I always avoid 3D like the plague but I will definitely not miss it in this. 48 FPS is going to look fantastic.

Here's your trailer

Oh #$&@ me. These and the Elder Scrolls series turn me into a 6 year-old. With just a song this time, even.

Awesome. But I still think they're missing out by not going with "Part 1: There" and "Part 2: Back Again".

Oooh I got chills. I CANNOT WAIT!

HOT DIGGITY DAMN.

Big geeky tingles there. And is it just me, or is Thorin sorta hot?

Unless I'm mistaken, when Thorin and Co are brought before the King of the Forest Elves after they are captured in the Mirkwood the king's son is described as standing with him on the dais, and that's our Legolas. He doesn't say anything I remember, but he should be there.

Now you realize I have to go re-read the book now. Sigh. I was trying not to drive myself insane with it for the whole of next year like I did with LOTR.

Niiiiiice

I haven't been able to bring myself to watch the trailer... But here goes.

I was hesitant, but it seems my fears were unfounded.

It was good!

Not sure I can get over Mitchell from Being Human as one of the dwarfs, though. I'll spend the whole movie expecting him to rip someone's throat out.

Lovely. It'll be interesting how they balance the sometimes silly, childish nature of the book with the more serious tone of LOTR. I'd always imagined that Tolkien would in retrospect make The Hobbit a kiddified version like Bilbo was telling it to a child or something like that.

The IMDb page is claiming that BRIAN BLESSED may be playing Dáin Ironfoot, which would be excellent. And Barry "Dame Edna Everage" Humphries as the Great Goblin. Interesting, to say the least.

I am not sure i can wait a year. It looks like great fun!

"To dungeons deep and caverns old"
*shiver*

Yeah, that song also sent chills down my spine. So awesome! I love that Bilbo is played by the guy that plays Watson in the BBC Sherlock series. It looks like he's doing a fine job, too.

That looked fantastic. This is going to better than the LOTR movies I think. Fellowship was the best of the movies and I think this is going to have that same vibe.

Really impressed how it all came together, it looks like cast and crew didn't miss a thing in the last 10 years. Gandalf looks awesome, Grey is better than White
