Trine 2 Announced

I was super interested in the first game, but the local-only coop prevented me from buying it.

I was disinterested in Trine at first because of that too, but the game played out just fine without it. Switching your characters made it into more of a puzzle action than it would've been otherwise, which I really enjoyed.

I caved and pre-ordered. If anyone wants to try the beta some evening up until the release date, let me know.

Need to finish other games first....too weak to resist.

5 hours left. Anyone here up for coop when it unlocks?

Looks so awesome! I'm going to hold off until then end of the month though. Either buy it during the holiday Steam sale or plunk down for the console version for some local co-op. Decisions..decisions.

Frozenbite have said it's not going in any sale this year, but it's still cheap.

I'm finally going to have time to play games this evening. This is one of the first things I will play.

Yes! That was very fun. I can't wait to play more, however, I need to play Batman now (If GFWL decides not to screw my saved game transfer).

This game to so much fun with 3 people playing. Thanks tuffalobuffalo & Hyetal

Are there enough people to justify a Steam group or should be just use the general GWJ group to try to get games going?

I'd vote no at this point. There really aren't too many people playing it. We should be able to use this thread to add each other as friends on Steam. If you're not on my Steam friends list, you can add me (I don't remember if you are or not).

On the other hand, it wouldn't hurt if someone wants to make one. There will probably be a huge sale at some point, and more people will pick it up.

I'll definitely be up for some coop soon. Just been too busy lately.

Also, THE WIZARD!

(yeah, no double post here)

Probably something of a running thing for most people in December. Personally, I hope that people will still be playing this next month.

Actually, has anyone played co-op yet? The beta had this weird habit of randomly assigning characters, and then shuffling them with each new section...

You can swap characters by holding matching character keys. If you are the knight and want to switch with the thief, you hold down the 2 key and then the other player does the same. Think of it like request and consent.

Just watched the Giant Bomb quick look. This game is gorgeous. The addition of online co-op is great. I'm not getting the game yet (pile is too big), but I'll be eagerly awaiting the first time this goes on sale.

I tried playing the original with my kids, on the LAN. It was much tougher in "co-op" than single player. is Trine 2 gentler for duos and trios?

I'm surprised I haven't picked this up yet. I got caught in the middle of other games (Saints Row 3) and haven't the chance to play it so haven't bought it. At this point I wonder if it's best just to wait a few more months for a possible Steam sale.

Trine 2 is on sale this week on PSN. I see that most of the comments above are referring to the Steam version. Does anyone have the console version? Is it worth $10?

I played both on PS3. Works well. The magic is a little annoying without a mouse but the archery is better with a controller.

Totally worth $10 as long as it works like DanB mentioned. It's a beautiful and fun game. They fixed a lot of issues that plagued the original Trine. It would make a great couch game for 2-3 people. I may pick it up on PS3 as I don't have two controllers for a laptop (I hate setting up PS3 controllers with a PC as it never works very well).

Thanks for the comments. I have been looking for a good couch game on the PS3 for my son and I to play.

Clockwork should probably change the title of the thread.

Just a heads up for PSPlus subscribers, Trine 2 is free until 6/5. I was waiting for an XBL sale, but free on the PS3 will work too.

First time I have ever played 6 hours straight of any game I got from a Steam sale.

Well I've had fun with this since the Steam sale. But I've probably been playing it wrong-solo.

If anyone feels like some coop let me know.

There's been a couple of ridiculously frustrating parts where I've just had to take a break. I don't know if another person would help, or if I'm just not getting it.

I forget about the Knight sprint and the Thief stealth sometimes, and then when I remember, suddenly whatever I was doing is a lot easier. Usually.

Can you have a coop person join in your save or do you have to unlock stuff from coop? I don't really want to start over, I'd like to finish the story. But I think playing with others might be fun.

Coop sorta breaks the game because you can have the wizard create a ramp or block and levitate your partners anywhere. That's not really a bad thing. It's a blast, playing that way. Do you also happen to have it on PS3 for some reason? The only reason I'd play it again is for the trophies. /i'm-a-lameass

Coop is drop in and out. It's very easy and you won't have to start over IIRC.

The coop does feel game breaking because like Mr. Buffalo said you will rely on the wizards levitation for everything. You can do this in single player too though. Just stack two boxes on top of one another and you can lift the bottom box which will lift you. You have to go slow but it works.
