So, in GWJ3 I am up on Rabbit by 84.75 points and he has 1 player left tomorrow night. This win will give both of us a 3-1 division record, and 10-3 overall records. The tiebreaker goes to, if I understand things as mentioned above, is by Points For. I am 66.35 points behind him right now, so it all comes down to whether or not Maurice Drew-Jones can score 18.4 points or more. If he scores more, Rabbit stays in the lead in the division. If he scores less, I obtain the lead in the division.

That's how I understand it, although fleaflicker had you at a 0% chance.

I didn't think you'd win so big, so it wouldn't matter, but damn, nice game. ;)

Well crud. Looks like, unless MJD gets a serious case of the fumbles, I will be in second place in the conference on points alone.

Fagh.

I don't understand why taking Mendenhalll early is a bad thing. He consistenly puts up good numbers. Andre Johnson and MJD are injuries waiting to happen.

So yeah I whiffed on MJD, but I hit the nail on the head with Johnson.

Ryan Matthews, please do something very stupid and self injuring very early.

So much for that, bud.

Crud. And Rabbit keeps 1st place in the Northern division on points.

Just means you'll be up against ukick if you win round 1 instead of me. I'm certainly cheering for you all the way to the finals.

So, it's your fault. Jerk.

Johnson has gotten hurt, so point for you on that one.

But I think Mendenhall, with his #26 RB rank and his up-and-down performances, has perfectly illustrated why I was shocked at people taking bruisers (Turner, Blount, Mendenhall) over dynamic backs who catch passes (MJD, Forte) in a PPR league. Mendenhall is basically batting .500 in terms of games above and below the double-digits mark. That's the problem with bruisers - they get all their points in games where their team can pound the ball, and they murder you in games where their team can't.

I have to give Michael Turner credit, though. He's still behind MJD and Forte by a good margin, but he's at least made a go of it - though he's killed his owners for the past two weeks.

2nd in points, 7th in FFL1's hearts.

Fine, I didn't want to play in your stinkin' playoffs anyway. I'll just over here in the consolation bracket.

Seriously though, I could not win a stinking game when I needed to, that's what it came down to. Good luck to everyone in the playoffs.

You know what matters? First round byes. Still got it.

12.1 points. That is the difference between Rabbit and myself in GWJ3. Well done sir!

With my win, I believe I am safe from relegation. Woo!

I thought relegation was decided by the loser's (sorry, "consolation") bracket.

This season started with high hopes and ended so very damn poorly. I missed the playoffs in all of my leagues for the first time ever. Very bitter pill to swallow.

I pretty much need a miracle to even win my next game I think. I'm guessing my best possible finish here is 4th place.

I just hope someone gets relegated. I want a shot at promotion if I win the playoffs down in the bottom league

Yeah it was pretty close in our division, I had one win over you and you had about 30 points over me. I thought you would get a wildcard but it didn't work out.

Damn it, you're right. I did earn a first round by in the consolation bracket though.

Quick question regarding the commish:

If you are interested Grump, I would be willing to give you the userID/pw for my GWJ3 flea flicker account for you to use as commish.

I may just be that I'm old and need an afternoon nap but I can't figure out... why?

Yeah there's no point in him promoting/relegating, as he's already in all the leagues.

Promotion drives relegation, not the other way around. You win, and you'll get promoted. The only question is whether a slot will open up naturally or if we'll have to relegate someone to make space.

Yes, you're safe. Only the bottom 3 (non-commish) teams need be concerned. This year, that's #9-#11.

From the official rules:

Promotion and Relegation: In order to provide additional incentive for competitive play, GWJFFL uses a promotion and relegation system.
Promotion: The top two teams, as determined by post-season performance (basically, the two teams in the Championship Game) in each of the lower divisions, will be given the option to move up to the division above (e.g. GWJFFL2 to GWJFFL1).
Relegation: If positions for promotion do not come available through natural attrition (i.e. teams leaving the league), the rules for relegation from the upper divisions will be implemented. While the simplest solution would be to say that the bottom two teams (#11 and #12 at the end of the regular season) will be relegated, we like to make things a little more interesting here in the GWJFFL. Essentially, two of the bottom three teams (as determined by the final regular season rankings) will be relegated, based on their post-season performance.
* Since it is possible, due to various factors, that only one team will relegated, we first compare the performance of the bottom two teams (i.e. #11 and #12). Whichever team has the worse post-season record will be relegated. Ties are won by the higher-ranked team.
* Should a second team need to be demoted, we then compare the post-season records of the remaining two teams (i.e. #10 and whoever is left). Ties are again won by the higher-ranked team.
* In practice, this means that the following is usually true:
* * Winning the consolation tournament will guarantee immunity from demotion but is not necessarily required to avoid it.
* * In the scenario where two teams have to be relegated, the #12 team has to win at least two games to have a chance of being completely safe while the other two teams might be safe after winning only one.
* * The loser of the first round game between #10 and #11 will be at least the second team relegated, if not the first.
Exceptions: Since the commissioner is already in all leagues due to administrative necessity, the commissioner can be neither promoted nor relegated. This means that...
Should the commissioner finish in a position that makes him eligible for promotion, the next-highest team (i.e. #3) based on post-season rankings will become eligible for promotion.
Should the commissioner finish in a position that makes him eligible for relegation, the next-lowest team (i.e. #9) will be considered for relegation, if necessary, according to the process described above.

Due to the exception noted above (i.e. I can't be relegated despite my embarrassing performance), this year the loser of #10 KAOS - International Organization of Evil and #11 GBuchold's Altogether Convincing Simulacra will be the first team up for relegation from GWJFFL1.

I seem to recall that at some point in time you mentioned that it would be nice to have an independent commissioner so that you didn`t have to be in every league...

Oh, yeah. That was in relation to considering going to ESPN since they let you set up joint ownership of teams. Running 5 teams can kind of burn you (or me, anyway) out. I appreciate the offer but I'm not too keen on having other people's logins. Besides, having a team in the league keeps me much more in touch with what's going on there.

Only because I mentioned it, I want to add that I'm unimpressed with ESPN's fantasy football site and so I'm not really considering moving the leagues over there anymore. We can discuss this further in the Spring so please don't worry about it right now.

Fleaflicker ftw!
