Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Catch-All

Ah! Like, the one guy I never talk to. Thanks!

Any idea which one? I'm having a hell of a time finding dusk relics. I assume I have to go out questing at night for those, but I couldn't find any on Skyloft.

Got that one yesterday. You can't get it until after the 3rd temple

Spoiler:

When you get sent to the spirit world, there will be a lot of them in the woods section.

Yeah yeah :p

Spoiler:

Although I think bugs are predominantly potion upgrade ingredients?

Spent some time practicing my entomology skills last night. I've gotten pretty good at catching the little bug(ger)s.

I figured out how to catch bird feathers last night finally.

I've caught all the bugs, but am still missing one of the ingredients on the right. Not sure where it comes from.

ClockworkHouse wrote:

The hell do I do with all these bugs? What are they used for? Does someone collect them? Are they just things I'm scooping up because I like scooping things?

Spoiler:

The primary use for bugs is as potion enhancers with the husband of the potion shop lady. Secondary use is selling to one of Groose's henchmen at night, in their room.

Primary use for the other ingredients is upgrading your shield and items with the scrap guy. Secondary use is selling to the item shop vendor in his house at night.

EDIT: Tannhauser'ed cause I tried to answer two posts instead of just one. :p

EDIT2: I guess you're right about the spoilers. And my answer is more complete.

I'm still missing one bug, but I'm not sure where on the chart it falls.

Regarding the treasure item -

Spoiler:

dusk relic

, I just won another in one of the mini games last night.

Spoiler:

The pumpkin toss game where you shoot them with arrows in Skyloft

I also found another one today in the 4th temple, off a certain enemy. And I was mistaken, I still have one ingredient missing from my collection.

The very top left corner, if anyone wants to spoil me.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's listed when I put the pointer over it. Hornet Larvae? Where do I get it? I have 30 Hornets I've caught with the net...

It occasionally drops when you knock down a Hornet Nest. It can be easy to miss if the Nest falls in grass.

Well there you go then. You should be able to obtain every ingredient or insect item by the 4th temple.

Halfway through the third temple and I'm now convinced this could possibly maybe be the best Zelda game. The mechanics and enemies in here are genius. If the rest of the game is as inventive, keeps making me use all my tools... well, it has a shot.

The Wii froze up last night while playing through the third dungeon. Had I saved recently? Of course not.

I save like a madman.

Heck there was that bomb/rupee minigame I ran into, and I ended up losing a bunch of rupees. Just reset the game and went back to my old save with a couple hundred more.

So I pretty much ignored Wii over the past couple of years despite my love of all things Nintendo. Twilight Princess came out for Gamecube so I never had much reason to get a Wii. I wonder if this game is a good enough reason to drop some cash to finally get one. Any thoughts?

I'd buy a Wii for it, but the Wii is my favorite console of this generation, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

You can do far far worse with $200. Plus there's plenty of other good games on the system. What do you like to play?

If you just wanted the one game, you probably should have got the $99 Wii at Walmart last Fri.

Or grab a used one for that at Gamestop.

If you love all things Nintendo, you've missed quite a bit on the Wii.

I don't think I'd buy any console this close to the next version, but I'm the early-adopter type. It pretty much depends how much you value the $200 or so you'd be spending. If the Wii U is at all intriguing to you, I'd skip the Wii and play Skyward Sword via backwards compatibility. There are a few threads around here recommending Wii games, take a look there and see if there's anything else you'd like to play.

Zelda has always been my biggest reason to own Nintendo hardware, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess were the reason I bought a Gamecube in the first place. My concern is that Skyward Sword is basically an expansion pack to Twilight Princess. If that's not the case and it does provide some level of progression in the context of the Zelda Universe I'd be sold on getting a Wii.

I typically enjoy playing single player games on console. However, my living situation will be changing soon (I'm heading back home to family/friends/roommates in about two weeks) so I wouldn't be against some multiplayer games. The most fun I ever had with a co-op couch game was one of the Gauntlet games for N64. Haven't heard any anecdotes about a similar title for Wii.

I'd agree with this. If you really, really must play Skyward Sword right now, then there enough good Wii games that you missed from the past 5 years to justify your purchase. However, if I were in your boat, I would probably wait until March or April to see if they announce the price of the Wii-U. You've already waited this long. If you have other games on your pile to play in the meantime, it may be worth waiting and just picking up the new system.

WiiU does muck things up a bit doesn't it, I'd completely forgotten about it.

I'll see if I can borrow someone's Wii to play Skyward Sword and wait for WiiU in the meantime. Thanks for the input fellas.

*shudders* My wife loves the Gamecube Gauntlet, for mindless gaming.

As for the Wii U, I expect a price at E3 and a launch date for North America of November 18th, 2012. This is effectively the same day of the year, as Skyward Sword's release, being the Sunday before Thanksgiving, and a major release day for Nintendo. Both the GCN and Wii launched that day and as we all just saw, Skyward Sword.

Can you wait a year for the WiiU to play? Also couch multiplayer gaming is pretty good on the Wii. You will not be disappointed if you pick a Wii up and have willing 2nd players and sometimes 3rd and 4th's.

I can wait. That being said if the right deal comes along for a cheap Wii I won't hesitate to bite. The one upside to Zelda games is their tendency to maintain quality over time, I have no doubt the game will be just as fun in a year as it is now.

This game is going to kick my ass.

Got the first side quest with the missing girl who was taken by the grave yard. Figure I need to go there at night, and one of the NPC's tells me as much. So I go there at night, move all the grave stones, and nothing.

Am I gonna have to FAQ this entire damn game up?

The old man in the Pumpkin bar tells you how to get there.

You have been to the Pumpkin bar right?

Yes. That was going to be my next stop in hopes that the Beetle was what I needed to get the piece of heart and stuff on the chandelier.

Nope!

Spoiler:

Gotta roll into some stuff upstairs, IIRC.

Actually, the beetle might work. I had gotten the piece of heart before the beetle, so I don't know for sure. I doubt you can use it indoors, though.

Huh. I thought I did that. Ah well. Worth a second try.

Talk to everyone. There are NPCs who tell you how to get the heart piece from the chandelier and what to do in the graveyard.

I know now why you cry.

FWIW, there is an NPC in Skyloft that tells you to talk to the old man at the Lumpy Pumpkin too.

You

Spoiler:

can't

use the beetle indoors.

I'm at the cusp of the final dungeon now (I think). I don't really want to go in though, want to spend more time here, so I'm doing the side stuff.
