NFL 2011 Week 12

Also, why did Norv take a timeout instead of letting the play clock run out and backing Denver up 5 yards on a delay of game?

Because Norv.

Did you see Tebow kick that game winning FG?? Awesome

I mean go Hanie!

Methinks Hanie just earned a C'Mon Man.

Ya, I think I have to agree...

He looked better in the second half but it might be a tough road ahead with Hanie at the helm.

ALL HE DOES IS WIN

Wow Bowe totally wussed out on that last play where he didn't even go for the ball. Also I thought Arrowhead was one of the toughest home crowds? It sounded like a Steelers stadium with the cheering explosion when that last interception was made.

I can't even believe I'm typing this again...

TIM.
TEBOW.
JUST.
WINS.

I'm starting to wonder if John Elway's practicing a little reverse psychology; by repeatedly insisting that the QB of the future isn't on Denver's roster, is he hoping to light a fire under Tim Tebow?

Except for the fact that Tebow doesn't seem affected by Elway's comments (or even sees them), I would say you are right.

Remember that stretch back in 2000 when the Ravens IIRC went five straight games without scoring an offensive TD, yet won all five?

TRENT.
DILFER.
JUST.
WINS.

Whoops, Thanksgiving snuck up on me and I forgot to enter my picks for the week. Then my daughter snuck up on me and was born on Friday

Of course, I went 12-3 this week in my office pool. Rat Boy, I will take the Saints over the Giants, to try to get 1 win for the week.

Congrats, Kush! That's a better excuse than I've got for making bad picks.

Gratz Kush!

Take it from a long time BUCS fan (me), no way Tebow is as bad as Dilfer and the Ravens won a SB.

If "the guy that lines up against Guy Whimper" were a single NFL player, he would be 3rd in the league in sacks.

Guy Whimper turns your left defensive end into Jared Allen.

(and the left defensive end is usually the defense's lesser pass rusher)

Also a longtime Bucs fan; Tebow is far worse than Dilfer. FAR worse. Dilfer was mistake-prone, but could be counted on to occasionally have a good game; note he actually made a Pro Bowl. A dubious accomplishment, yes, but a 21/11 TD/INT that year, and 21/15 the next shows that the guy could . . . actually play QB. He would brain-fart and make mistakes at the wrong time, but I really don't see much difference between Dilfer and guys like, say, Brian Griese or Rex Grossman; not "good" NFL QBs by any measure, but really the kind of guy that you don't mind as your backup.

Tebow? No. I only watched the first half, and I saw him miss a few short, wide-open throws; his accuracy is utterly terrible. Even worse, his mechanics are nightmarish--watch him throw the ball. Watch his windup; even Byron Leftwich thinks Tebow has a slow release. You put a decent pass rusher on Tebow's blind side, and it's strip-sacks waiting to happen. It takes FOREVER for him to throw, and that's the kind of basic mechanic that's very hard to change (and Tebow has shown no ability to change it).

Denver is 5-1 with Tebow as starter. In those five wins, Denver's defense has given up an average of 15 points. Those games were against the Dolphins (before they woke up), the Raiders (two weeks after Carson Palmer had gotten off the couch), the Chiefs (who are imploding), the Jets (Mark Sanchez being Mark Sanchez), and the Chargers, who RAN THREE TIMES INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE LINE in order to settle for a 50+ field goal to win the game (NORVVVVVV!!!). They've managed to play five sliding teams at just the right time.

Would Trent Dilfer be winning? Don't know. Dilfer certainly would have more turnovers, but, then again, Denver ran a designed QB draw on 3rd and 13 from their own four-yard-line rather than risking Tebow throwing the ball. Huge confidence there.

Unfortunately, for Denver fans, they have a very easy schedule the rest of the year; the only really good team they face would be the Patriots. Vikings, Chiefs, plummeting Bills, Caleb Hanie-led Bears. That will lead to just enough success that Tebow sticks around next year and, when the schedule is harder, he will actually have to win games, rather than run designed QB draws on 3rd and long.

Apples and oranges.

One's a quarterback, the other's a single wing tailback.

Dude, Tebow is 8/1 TD/INT this year over 9 games, he's on track for a 16/2 year.

In other news, the ESPN guys were blowing Von Miller this morning. That's my boy!

I randomly watched the Bills-Jets yesterday. Watched a lot of football yesterday. Anyway, I thought Ryan Fitzpatrick looked really good, with a cannon for an arm. Do the Bills just have lousy receivers?

Pretty much. That was a really frustrating game. The Bills defensive plays were all over the place, leaving people uncovered, and huge gaps for the Jets to exploit. When Sanchez tried a throw to someone with decent coverage, the Bills were playing amazingly well at corner (again, if they were near the WR). Fitzpatrick should be a good QB for a good number of years, but his WRs need to help him out a bit.

I watched the early part of Bills-Jets but turned the games off at halftime (somehow, wedding anniversary dinner won out); Sanchez was really, really . . . well, Mark Sanchez yesterday. Bleah. As for Fitzpatrick, he's been the journeyman backup long enough that I completely and utterly do not trust him as a starter. He had opportunities in St. Louis and Cincinnati, and was really bad. I will go back to my "I trust nothing from the early part of this season" statement; the fact that he looked good at the start of the year doesn't mean anything long-term.

Also, Steve Johnson is a moron. Mocking Plaxico's shooting himself as a TD celebration is bad enough, but then, with 30 seconds left, the ball lands right in his hands for the game-winning TD and he drops it.

I think Jacksonville's found their Jason Hill replacement! Johnson will be hitting free agency this offseason...

Yeah, but did you see him beating Revis most of the game? That was hot.

Okay, everyone watch Jerome Simpson's flop. It cracks me up.

Thank you NFL for calling out this BS. I wonder what Dalton was thinking?

"I wish he laid out that much for some of those passes"
or
"Maybe I shouldn't throw it so hard to him. I might hurt him"
