Yes, but it sounds rather arduous. Looks like someone is working on a tool to aid in that process though:

No idea how well it works though.

Thanks a bunch guys

You have to redo the LAA patch for every update.
I haven't noticed any crashing.

That is not true for the "new" LAA launcher, which the Bethesda guys have been talking about on Twitter. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1013 is what you want.

That said, if you're Bethesda and you're making Elder Scrolls games, at some point you should bite the bullet and refactor your code to be compatible with 64-bit addresses.

That's one reason I hope consoles get more than 2GB of RAM to play with sooner rather than later, so it'll force at least some of them kicking and screaming into 64 bit land (and all that entails, hopefully they're not using XP64, so you can put the final nails in the coffin for DX9 and similar decade old tech)

This is a pretty awesome thread for tweaking Skyrim. I'm sure most of it is old news to some of you but a great list for starters!

I came in here to post it but tempest beat me to it, but note that his link has a setting for fixing vertical/horizontal mouse movement. (Haven't tried it myself.)

Also, I thought the fact that the sun only moved in spurts annoyed me, but then I found a setting that had it update constantly. It's better the way it is, trust me.

As a heads-up: I've been manually changing the movement speed, healing rate, or other variables every time I play, using player.setav. Frustratingly, these changes don't persist across save games/loads (including deaths); the same adjustments do stay in place if player.forceav is used instead. My settings are:

player.forceav speedmult 55
player.forceav healrate 0.1

I don't see the need to change the heal rate. When in combat it doesn't matter and it is easy for anyone to get the heal spell which is great for healing between battles. Now if you change the magicka recharge rate, that is a different story.

This is super crash happy after the patch. Three times in an hour. One sec I'm looking at the game, and then... my desktop.

You have tried the CTD fix involving the default sound?

I was seeing the same thing. I then realized that it had patched (encrypted) my LAA away. I reenabled it and all is well. YMMV.

player.forceav magickarate $whateverYouWant

Magic Karate is the best kind of Karate.

Same here. I think its the LAA issue, as I didn't have any problems with the audio issues before.

I love the mod community. Watching a patch screw up games like this is frustrating, but the community comes up with solutions at a phenomenal rate.

Also a great tip. I set a batch file to adjust both to save me typing it out each time. I'll try the forceav setting and see how it goes.

I hadn't messed with any of the LAA stuff, or any mods at all for that matter, so I'm not sure how the patch not allowing that stuff anymore would affect me.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to the most current LAA? Cant seem to find it on Skyrim Nexus.

This is the one mentioned by the Bethesda team on their Twitter/Blog posts. I've used it since it was added, and it seems to do the trick. It's from the same guy who made the same kind of mod for Fallout.

Edit: See above

I'm playing with the 360 controller, and I've been bothered with the lack of hotkeys (only 2). This mod gives me 8. I went with the 'classic menu' option, and it works well.

Does anybody know if there's a mod that makes potions weigh nothing? The damn things are really weighing me down but I can't bring myself to dump them somewhere.

I tried the LAA injector thing last night; can't tell if the frame rate improved, but I did have damn good performance throughout.

You try carrying around dozens of vials of liquids and see how fast you can run

I'd rather see a mod that lets you drop quest items. I had a misc quest that was rendered uncompletable when the questgiver was killed. I was stuck lugging around the heavy quest item until I decided to just use the console and look up her reference ID and use the place at me command (her corpse was un-resurrectable)

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads... allows you to craft some more stuff and convert Azura's Star to The Black Star or vice versa. Might help some who feel they made the wrong choice.

That's a decent one, but I prefer my personally modified version of this one:

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads...

I never really feel like the d-pad diagonals are reliable enough, so this one's using RB as a shift key to get at the second set of hotkeys feels preferable. The only weakness is that you lose the ability to fine-tune your aim while charging a shout since shout has been moved to Y, but overall I think RB makes a more logical shift key. Also, this one seems to capture absolutely every function I would have on the keyboard except quick access to the system menu (but start, then LT isn't that bad).

Here are my personal modifications to that control map:

I agree with one of the commenters that using LB as a second shift key is a bad call. Thankfully it is easy enough to not have to use it at all. Since the RB shortcuts make the "Tween" menu unnecessary, and you can achieve zoom in and zoom out by holding the right stick and moving the left stick, the following modifications will eliminate the need for LB modifiers.

My modified mapping:
Quick Load -- RB+Start
Quick Save -- RB+Back
Wait -- RB+RS Click
Auto Run -- RB+LB

Delete theses lines:
Tween Menu 0x0f 0xff 0x0100+0x8000 1 1 1 0x908
Zoom Out 0xff 0x9 0x0100+0x2000 0 0 0 0x220
Zoom In 0xff 0x8 0x0100+0x1000 0 0 0 0x220

Modify these lines:
Quicksave 0x3f 0xff 0x0200+0x0020 1 0 0
Quickload 0x43 0xff 0x0200+0x0010 1 0 0
Auto-Move 0x2e 0xff 0x0200+0x0100 1 1 0 0x801
Wait 0x14 0xff 0x0200+0x0040 1 1 0

Additionally, I added quick panning on the map screen via the D-pad by changing the following lines:
Up 0x11 0xff 0x0001 0 0 0 0x8
Down 0x1f 0xff 0x0002 0 0 0 0x8
Left 0x1e 0xff 0x0004 0 0 0 0x8
Right 0x20 0xff 0x0008 0 0 0 0x8

Sh*t. Wish I had access to that earlier -- I really wanted to take the white star route, but the black star is way too awesome. Well, at least I have the option for future characters now.

Oh! While messing around making my custom version of that control mapping I discovered an undocumented control. You know how if you hold the activate button rather than tap it you can drag a world item rather than take it into your inventory? Try the same thing with your followers. It gives you quick access to the "command" mode that you would otherwise have to select from their dialog options.

I sure wish that had been explained. Somewhere.
