Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Catch-All

You mean that all those Skyrim adverts won't be around next week?

Spoiler:

Oh, i know they won't. No point in wasting money on advertising a current product, right guys?

All I can say about this game.... it's beautiful. And the Wiimote is cool. Soundtrack, awesome.

Bah. The Gamestop I pre-ordered from isn't doing a midnight launch. Figures.

They are opening an hour early Sunday...

Guess I'll be hitting WalMart and hoping to snag the controller bundle.

I stopped by Gamestop last night and reserved my controller bundle copy. YAY!

Does anyone know where I can get the limited edition bundle?

I know it is last minute but everywhere I look it is sold out.

Yeah. It's funny how you'll see an advertisement for a Nintendo game weeks after the game came out and only see it on the Internet. I know they make TV spots, I just never see them.

I mentioned Mario Land 3D to my Dad in our last phone conversation and he said "Is that the one with the 3D? I saw it on the TV and it looked like fun". Which surprised me, since I always see ads on TV for things like COD on the sports channels in the bars, but I never see TV ads for Nintendo games.

My only disappointment with the controller is that not all of the buttons are gold. But otherwise I love it.

I actually saw the Skyward Sword Commercial. Something with swords and stuff falling outta the sky and such.

We watched that at work and I just sat and laughed. Falling swords and shields can't be safe.

Goddamit, I'm weak. I think I've decided I'll be going down to Best Buy first thing on Sunday to snag this. I figure the price won't drop much (if at all) anytime soon, and I just got a $5 BB card. to use. I suppose if they have the controller bundle I'll get that, but otherwise, the game and motion plus addon should be the same price. God help them if they run out of those. I'd be shocked if they didn't stock up in prep for a Zelda game that requires it. I can't be the only one who hasn't needed to get one before now.

I've only played 2 motion+ enabled games so far. Red Steel 2 and Flingsmash. The former was worth it, the later I'm not sure why it needed it. Regardless, I got Flingsmash for less than the cost of the remote that was included with it, so whatever.

That's the thing, Nintendo games never go on sale. Except for sh*tty ones like Metroid Other M. So their first-party titles are one of the few single-player experiences I will still buy day 1 because it isn't getting any cheaper.

Although I prefer when it's not a Sun release and I get $20 credits from Amazon. Oh well.

Wow... if Metroid: Other M was €5 i might buy it. I've always wanted to see how one of my heroes looks like when they've been sissified.

Next on the list, Conan the barbarian complaining about how his father didn't ever tell him he loved him.

Try it. You might like it.

Note that i didn't say anything about the gameplay itself. The idea and the presentation of the content is insulting to my intelligence and social perceptions (in this day and age) though*.

*Before you come back with the whole, how do you know 'til you've seen it? Youtube is a thing.

I'm not arguing Metroid in the Zelda thread. Carry on.

Getting a text message on my phone (without my permission) from Gamestop reminding me my copy will be available Sunday AM and that I can get up to 30% off with trade-ins is a great reminder why I rarely shop them these days.

The best part? At checkout, the clerk agreed with me about not wanting to give them my email address. I guess asking permission to text me (and use up a text message on my family plan (I forget if we have unlimited, but it's the principle)) isn't covered in the training manual >_<

Whoa. Yeah I thought there was the automated phone call from whats-her-name.

I'm really hoping WalMart has the bundle Sat night and I can just cancel my Gamestop order. I don't want to give them any money, especially after they failed on the midnight release.

Yuck. One more reason never to deal with Gamestop.

Oddly enough I prefer pre-recorded messages for release notifications. Getting a pre-recorded message from Charles Martinet reminding me to pick up my copy of Galaxy the next day was classy.

This.... not so much.

EDIT: Oh, and it's not that I denied them permission. They just never asked aside from getting my phone #, which I thought would be a simple call to tell me my copy was ready. I guess it's possible I mis-interpreted what the clerk said, but still....

I got the same message, and to be fair it even said Text STOP if you do not want to receive them ever again.

I enjoy the reminder, although the 30 percent trade-in is kinda pointless since I paid in full when I reserved it...

I never trust that option. Probably because my phone gets a couple of text spam message every month, and I've become ultra-cautious / paranoid about unsolicited texts.

Text "STOP" to verify that you read our previous messages and will presumably read the ones our partners will now send you, since we sold them your phone number!

Looks like Wall-mart is going to have the collectors edition on sale for $60 on Black Friday.

Or Black Thurs, aka Thanksgiving, at 10pm... ugh.

Well I went ahead and dumped some old DS and Wii games, and a couple PS3 ones I platinumed and will never play again. Got $50+ credit with that special deal they are having for 30% bonus. So I got the Zelda+Controller bundle for like $16.

Just couldn't convince the guy to let me take it home today. Heading back at 8am I think. Tomorrow should be fun.

So, what is up with the Wiimote bundle? Is it a preorder only deal? Will they eventually get more stock, or would I have raid a bunch of stores tomorrow? And if it's not available, what is the most bullsh*t-free way to acquire a controller capable of actually playing the game?

The controller is just one that has Wii Motion plus built in. But if you have just the adapter, that works too.

Okay, thanks. I don't particularly care about the gold vs. white thing, but I was at least hoping to get a bit of savings on an intergrated M+ controller.
