Torchlight 2 Catch-All

They've made a comment before that they "know where they exist in the ecosystem" when people expressed concern about the upcoming heavy hitters and the lack of a TL2 release date. I wonder if they don't feel a little more relaxed about their timetable to get it out now that D3 is pushed back.

I can't help thinking everyone's getting tunnel vision on D3, it's not the only factor.

Didn't they say a lot of TL1 sales came from boxes in stores, so it might be an issue of timing so it gets picked up on an impulse purchase. Or they're trying to fit it in around other titles so it doesn't get swamped out in the fall rush.

I'm hoping it's two things: 1) networking is a PITA and 2) polish.

For myself, I wouldn't mind if they offered a singleplayer version right now and with the proviso that it's not quite finished, but what state to ship their game in is their decision to make

I would've said this in the summer, but with so many big time commitment games coming out, I'm honestly not looking forward to TL2 now. Community will likely make it an instant purchase for me, and not the product itself.

Dangit. Every time this thread lights up I click it hoping there's "TL2 will be out next week!" news.

That's the thing, the people who visit this forum aren't the only people who ever buy games, and not the only market for TL2, so just maybe Runic is considering other markets too.

I know what You mean. This is the main reason I go into this thread . I've been burnt in the past as because I was waiting for Desciples 3 and Jagged Alliance 3 . I bet Runic's time estimates of sometimes in 2011 (or at worst q1 2012) are more reliable than the two games I mentioned.

Must release now... Come on guys!

Pretty please?!

The Engineer class gets massive hammers? I'm in.

Is it out yet?

No?

Dammit.

He's not wrong about Skyrim, but...NOoooo!

I'm fine with this because they finally said something.

Not terribly surprising. There's been little information since PAX and they were hoping for a Fall release.

I mean, these are ex-Blizzard people we're talking about

Makes me wonder how big of a jump it is over TL1. If anything it shows me why I hate estimated release dates, it stings when they're pushed back.

The general impression I've gotten is that it's comparable to the Diablo -> Diablo II jump.

I'm extremly dissapointed it was delayed because I feel like its going to come out around the same time as diablo 3, it won't even be a choice for what I will play and I still really want torchlight.

Now it's a race. D3 or T2.

Yup, and now I'll definitely have time for Skyrim around the New Year.

Terminator 2 came out five years before Mighty Ducks 3.

With only 6 weeks left in 2011, I think everyone realized it wasn't releasing this year. I just wish the delay announcement had mentioned at least some idea of when they expect it to be ready. I'm playing SR3 now and plan to play Skyrim over the week off from work I get between Xmas and New Years. So I hope Runic releases TL2 in January or February, as I'll be playing Mass Effect 3 starting March 6th.

With the number of high caliber games coming out this year, I think many people can excuse the push. Of course, maybe I'm just saying this because I actually didn't know the original estimated release date.

That sums up my thoughts pretty nicely.

I may be in the minority, but there is no race as far as I'm concerned. I will be pre-ordering Torchlight 2 as soon as it's available on Steam. I will not be buying Diablo 3.

Getting 3 copies of Torchlight for co-op with the kids. Not sure I'll get D3.

D3 isn't an option for me. I spent so many hours in the first two that I have to play it. Torchlight on the other hand was just meh (if it had multiplayer I might have liked it more). If both come out at the same time, D3 wins. But if Torchlight can come out 2-3 months ahead I definately will play it until D3 comes out.

So, any recent word on Torchlight 2? Anyone?

As far as I know, nothing since the Nov 17 announcement of the game getting pushed to 2012.

The TL2 website got a facelift and some new stuff. Before you ask: no release date.
