NFL 2011 Week 10

The one pass he completed was pretty spectacular though. In-stride to the WR, 56 yards, maybe 45 of that in the air. Crazy good. Weird that he can throw something like that perfectly and miss other much easier ones.

Devin Hester, you are ridiculous.

I'm struggling how ATL decides to go for it on 4th down on their own 29 in OT?

Fixed that for you.

The Panthers have played well (well being a relative term after last season) in every game until this one. This is the first time this season I gave up on 'em before the end of the game. They stunk.

I figured it was more important to fix the burners on the stove than to watch Chris Johnson run over what the Panthers call a defense.

Turns out I was right! (About the burners. Wife was pleased.)

You know, I don't get it. Hell, I'm a Bears fan, and I'm surprised that EVERYONE does this.

Everyone knows not to kick to him. If he retired this instant, he'd be in the HoF the first year he's eligible. So why do they keep on doing it? Are they just trying to get mentioned in the speech?

EDIT: I think Stafford might need to be checked for colorblindness after tonight. Can you make those picks any easier?

Vernon Davis!

Fantasy gods, thank you!

That's the sort of coaching decision that makes you think you could lose your job.

And now Hester is out because of his illness.

That's right, you got burnt by a ill man.

Oh hell yes. INT, then TD on the first play! 49ers baby!

I know he's a difference-maker, but I just don't see him making the HoF based on his return skills alone. He's not made much of a name for himself as a starter at other positions, and that's bound to be a mark against him. It would be an interesting choice I think, but I don't think the game has been changed in a significant way because of his play.
Edit: No ring yet, either.

As a Packers fan, you have no say in this.

Look, at least we had a return man with a Super Bowl MVP to his name

That's beside the point. Not having a ring significantly decreases his chances at a HoF bid.

Someone take the red challenge flag away from Jim Harbaugh.

Seriously. He keeps using it every week when he has no business doing so.

Seahawks beat the Ravens. This has been the singly most inconsistent year I can ever recall in the NFL. I have no idea who's going to be good from week to week; even the Packers have had a bunch of scares. Really weird year.

And what a long storied career he had!

Edit: Desmond Howard! Took me forever to remember his name.

NFC West 4-0 today.

Nice one Gumbie.

How in the hell did Nick Folk miss that gimme kick?

It didn't for Dan Marino.

Yes, QB's are God in the NFL, and Marino is arguably the best QB ever(and absolutely the best QB that never got a ring), but being the best player ever to play a position pretty much means you'll get the votes, even without a ring.

Lol @ Collinsworth claiming that offensive pass interference will be called every time on a push off. God what a tool

The only thing I see wrong with what Phisposer said was "significantly." Rings do matter to a certain extent. It is understood in the voting that QBs play the most difficult position in football, as you said. Hester return kicks and sucks as a receiver. Special teams is not something that generally garners a HOF induction. It's just harder for a special teams player to get in and not having a ring will certainly be a factor.

That said, if he continues his dominance, I would expect him to get in.

Maybe he is smart and is using them like an extended timeout? Take a timeout and get two minutes, or make a challenge and get five minutes...

I have no idea, I haven't seen any 49ers games, just a thought.

SFGate just did an article on it last week.

The one at Detroit was pretty bad, they called a penalty on him for throwing it after a scoring play. But the article is way too kind. Who knows if that kick return might not have been the one to break free? Ted Ginn Jr practically won the week 1 game himself with back to back kickoff/punt returns 4 plays apart. Not giving him that chance is a big mistake.

Anyone know what the over-under is going to be for fines from the Bears Lions game? I'm betting 500k.

NFC West represent!

Damn you, Seattle, St. Louis, and Arizona. So much for Thanksgiving being the potential clincher for the Niners.

You think Stafford will get anything for trying to pull that guy's head off?

A sack-free Sunday. Carolina's coming to town next week. I'm not sure Carolina could get a sack against some of the high school teams in Charlotte.
