The poster used html code, not BBCode.

Don't forget that there's also a time-registered component to being able to use code. The spammer you linked was a member for two weeks before posting that.

Dunno how hard it would be, but it'd be nice to have a [small] tag for little asides. It could just translate directly to the HTML <small> tag, as far as I know.

You can kind of do this now with the font tag, but it doesn't work very well.

You can use the size tag. [size=6]Like this.[/size]

I didn't see anything about it, and maybe I missed it... being new to the forum and all, but it would be nice to have a way to follow certain threads. And as mentioned previously I think. I would like to be able to search threads. For example, I see a DOTA 2 channel in Vent but wasn't seeing any threads about it in the forums... maybe I was looking in the wrong place too though.

For the first request, go to Account in the top left, then the 'Track' tab, which shows every thread you comment in, ordered by recent comments. For the second, there's a site search on the sidebar.

Aah, thanks, I thought was just a link to the google search... I must have been up too late this morning.

For me, the time change didn't take hold in the forum. I'm east coast, and my setting is on 'America/New York'. So I'm showing posts that were made at 9:19am as being at 10:19 am. So in other words, it didn't 'fall back'.

Ha, the timestamp on the posts has NEVER been right for me.

If I recall, that's something that's not fixed in Drupal core till 7. In 6, the Date module fixes it. In 5, which is what GWJ is, uh, maybe?

I don't know what you just said, but I read it as "switch to central time zone for now"

The search function no longer returns any results. I tried in IE and Chrome.

I believe this is an improvement over the previous search function.

I noticed this yesterday.

Same here.

Also, over the past few days, I've noticed pages are taking significantly longer to load. Is it just me and my crappy Mexican ISP, or has there been additional load on the servers?

I've had that issue, too.

Definitely not just you. I get weird, sporadic, behavior where in one moment a page will take 30+ seconds to load*, then a tad later and the next page will load almost instantly. There doesn't seem to be any pattern as to when or why the slowdowns take place. Time of day doesn't seem to matter.

* I should say, 30+ seconds to connect. The browser sticks on "connecting", once it connects the pages load quickly.

There was a notice out on Twitter that Rabbit's latest frontpage article was getting a lot of traffic and was hitting the servers pretty hard. I'm not sure if that might have something to do with that. I know it killed the site completely for a few minutes a couple of times.

Don't think that has anything to do with the busted search feature though.

Could be a google problem? But yeah, search no worky.

Posting on twitter is useless to me.

Sounds like your problem, not theirs

Plus when the site's down there isn't really a better way to let people know why. Twitter is kind of ideal for it...

Twitter account is @GWJOps for anybody that's curious.

The problem is that requires I use twitter. I do not use twitter. I guess I could just bookmark that one site or something and check it when need, right? Can I plug it into google reader like an RSS?

EDIT: Evidently, yes... Too bad I only check reader occasionally and forget about it at home.

The poor site performance earlier this week was due to Julian's latest piece getting linked to by several different outlets. I believe we improved performance a bit over that time period so that we can better handle something like that in the future, but only another event like that will tell.

Regarding search, I believe this is due to a change on Google's end. You'll notice if you have a Google account, when you go to search you're usually both logged in and redirected to an https URL. This is Google encrypting your requests -- which is good for you, but bad for the way our site search works. Most browsers won't render SSL content inside of a non-SSL page (like ours). I'll do some investigation today to see if I can figure out a work-around.

Search should be working now! If you run your own site with embedded Google Custom Search, you may want to take a look at this discussion on Google's support forums.

You only need to remember to check it when the site isn't working. I'm not on twitter all that much, but when I can't access the site I just go to twitter and check out the @GWJOps and see what's up.

El Pollo Diablo's long-lost brother?

Rabbits don't usually come from eggs, so probably not.

What about the Easter Bunny?

It was delicious.
