Have played for 5 mins, and seems like a 360 controller on the PC is the way to go at the moment. Anyone agree/disagree?

Completely agree. I played through the opening and the keyboard controls are frustrating with a keyboard.

I am pretty upset that I cannot bind anything to the numpad. Being left handed I use the numpad instead of WASD. Keyboards are pretty standard, everything should be bindable on them. I do know why this is hard for so many developers to get right.

Switched to a 360 controller and the game is much more playable. I would love to be looking around with a mouse instead, but at least I can navigate the interface.

At this point, I think PC makers should start offering the 360 controller as a standard add-on to new systems.

Some of us don't own an Xbox controller for the very simple reason that I own a PC, not an Xbox. My pc comes with two very functional and useful input devices that have worked very well in the past. One would think that since they planned to put this on the PC from day one they could have put a little bit of thought into enabling it's native input devices.

^That.

I'm not above using various hacks and workarounds to get things working well, but I think it's dangerous to say "just do it" or to think that it's acceptable.

I shall be buying this on my lunchbreak oh yes. This may be one of those sweet games that I love playing and the wife loves watching. Win win.

I'm glad I've not had any trouble with the keyboard or mouse. Apart from the very odd decision to make LMB the right hand and RMB the left. I get it, of course, the right mouse button has always been "block", but still. It's only reasonable to change it now.

The decision to trade my brother a Radeon 5870 for a collectors edition of Skyrim seems more and more foolish.

SINCE IT HASN'T HAPPENED YET! Damn you, weekend. Damn you, eventual Amazon shipping speed. Damn you, fiscal responsibility!

While not as integrated as the bug tracker for BF3, I think this is a good start. Take initiative, people. Post up your bugs.

I think that might be a bug because it makes no sense.

Yeessss! Auto detected Ultra High quality on my laptop. Runs very smooth and looks fantastic. Playing with a wireless 360 controller/USB dongle setup. Only had a chance to play 20 min or so this morning; can't wait to get home this afternoon!

Puce Moose, that sequence with the cart is fantastic. Do I sense a set of well crafted mods telling the tale of a magical war chariot in our future?

To use the favorites system on the PC you have to highlight the item/weapon/spell and press the F key. Then you use the Q key in game to bring up the favorites menu.

ARGHHHH! Decrypted and now I'm staring at "The game is currently unavailable Please try again at a later time"

wTF

EDIT: Validate Cache for the win!!!

Sounds to me like waiting for Christmas to play this game on PC is a good idea. I still really really want to play BF3 when I get home so I can hold off until then.

Yuss! Purchased for a fiver off at HMV (they're competing heavily with GAME, UK console fact-fans). Sweet! I was getting bored of grinding out unlocks in BF3 anyway.

Added the Numpad one.

When I get home from work and spend time playing I will add what I find.

Another tip you can turn off mouse acceleration in the skyrimprefs.ini and change bMouseAcceleration=1 to 0.

PC folks, here's a list of tweaks that made the game feel much more enjoyable for me. (Especially FOV, the default is crazy low, it actually made me uncomfortable)

So far I've spent my hours in Skyrim creating about 3 characters and running through the tutorial area. Yep, it's Elder Scrolls! Not sure which character I really want to use. Oh decisions.
Oh and an observation about the new game engine, I don't know what it is or if it's just me, but the way the game looks and feels (controls, weightiness of objects/movement, etc) reminds me very much of the Gothic games or Risen, maybe its the low res texture style or something about how it renders, I can't put my finger on it. It defiantly feels closer to those games than it does to Oblivion/Fallouts.

The UI sucks. I'd actually love to have the default Oblivion UI over this!

So that is where the fov setting is. I must have overlooked it.

111,000 concurrent people playing Skyrim on Steam right now :O Modern Warfare 3 topped out at like 80,000. That's crazy.

It won't stop certain companies insisting that every game needs multiplayer though.

Do any of you know how torturous it is to leave my computer at home, decrypting the files on Steam, and then to have to come into work for a full day, reading the fun that ya'll are having? Please at least tell me that the game is crappy and that I'm not missing anything special. At least that way I can get through my day with my sanity intact.

How does this all fit on one 360 disk? Didn't Oblivion take two?

If anyone is having corruption of the video when launching on Nvidia cards be sure to set ansitropic filtering to "Application controlled" anything else and the game won't launch for me.

Well one MS got rid of the 2G of data on a Dual-DVD that was need for Security and second compression tech has gotten better. I am only pissed I pre-loaded on STEAM and have redownload the whole game for some reason.

Oblivion was only one. The two disc version was the GOTY rerelease with all of the Shivering Isles content.

It was a nice feeling when it came up and auto detected ultra high settings. Breath taking the views are. Oh and those early complaints about controls? They must have been on crack. First you're able to change them to what you want and everything is real fluid.

Should be playing after work, finally got my amazon shipping email after 1am!
