The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Catch-All

Don't watch a live stream now! You're so close to playing it fresh with your own eyes.

This.

Yeah, I could see if you were waiting 'till after the holidays or something to pick the game up, but for everyone else you'll have it in your own hands in mere hours.

Do you have to be a paid member to watch it? If not, I might pop in for awhile. I don't care bout no spoilers.

Nope. It's free for all. You just have to login to chat and that's for all users also.

I can't get the damn thing to work for me here at work, I just get one still image, so I'm gonna listen to the soundtrack instead.

I think they're just showing a static image with no sound... unless you mean it always just shows an image. :)

So instead of saying you're playing it wrong, you're saying I'm anticipating the game wrong?

I'm on the fence about what race to play.

Planning on playing stealthy with some magic, and for my first playthrough was leaning towards Nord to see the gameworld from an "insider" perspective.

But Argonian is awfully tempting, mainly because the idea of a Dragonborn being an anthropomorphic lizard is hilarious to me.

I suggest you give the 1up review a read. It's a combo review by Jeremy Parish and Thierry Nguyen. Both played with much different styles and described how they felt.

(Somehow this is not quite as exciting as a preload.)

I've been obsessively checking my order status. It's still "Not yet shipped."

The reviews are hitting. The videos are appearing. Excitement is reaching a fever pitch as the release clock counts down the few remaining hours.

I shall remain strong.

I will not waver.

I shall discover everything for myself.

The Dragon shall ride again on the winds of time (and then get a fireball to the face from me).

I guess this is the start of the nerdgasm that lasts two weeks or so before opinion settles down. Enjoy it.

For those of us who wait eagerly:

Nice! I'm not getting Skyrim just yet (opting for SR3 next Tuesday), but I'll be listening to this while I work today.

I normally play ES games as a Breton using a bow for damage, stealth and magic for support. I like being armorless and just enchanting cloths with armor buffs.

This time around I think I might try a Dunmer using destruction magic and a shield. Sounds like it might be an interesting combo. Block, shield bash and zap!

What a productive comment!

You've just thrown a giant monkey wrench right down into my gears. That sounds great.

I'm thinking khajiit for the same reason: watch the kitty torture the giant lizards and snicker.

Been thinking about what to play for weeks and I still can't decide! 12 more hours and I'll have to make a choice!!

For some reason Steam decided that Fallout New Vegas needed to randomly download 2 GB of data, which stalled my Skyrim pre-load. Bizarre! *Reminds self to put Steam back into Offline mode as soon as everything's downloaded to prevent it from 'fixing' something.*

Made it to 76.4%, though, so with any luck it should be ready by tonight. A nice warm bowl of Beef Stew and a tankard of ale! Sounds like a good way to dive into the frozen lands tonight.

Only 12 hours to go!

...

It's going to be a loooong day.

Dammit, dammit, dammit. I was trying so hard to resist picking this up right away. Filthy enablers.

5% preloaded...12 hours until release...

I'm not sure what race I will be, but I think I will be a heavy armored (maybe medium), Archer, sword and shield type of guy. I'm never much into using magic in these games, but I love to hack and slash or shoot arrows out the wazoo.

I think you want it to keep fixing Skyrim, though.

That sounds incredibly uncomfortable.

2363 comments for a game that isn't even out yet. Is this a GWJ record?

So I was reading that the loading times were long. Do you think putting the game on my SSD would help with that? First time I've had a SSD.

Not as much as getting them in there to begin with.

Of course.

Horse tranquilizers. And lots of them.

It was an anti-clocking record at least!

Is there a way to redirect steam to put one games files on a different drive? There is no way my steam directory will fit on my SSD but I could put just Skyrim there if steam can be tricked into seeing it.

So, what are you guys doing to prepare? I've taken my rig apart, cleaned dust out of all fans, defragmented every drive, and run CCleaner. The home office is tidied up, and everything looks good for an uninterrupted day of playing tomorrow.
