DC: Universe - Catch All

Oh, yeah it could definitely be lag. I've been having problems with some of my bow attacks and with rolling 'cause of that. Next time I'm on my hand blast character I'll try out the Meteor Blast.

Yeah I was getting lag the other day, I would use a skill and it would get stuck for an excessive amount of time in that stance, not allowing me to attack like usual.

This game is fun when I can actually play it. SOE actually makes a game I like and now I'm 2000 in the queue.

1250
it actually moves pretty fast.
I've been off all week so I managed to get a villian (Porzon) to level 20. I really like it. Loved Beta but was already a paying customer of somethign else and didnt want to do 2 games.
the moment i heard it was going F2P i was all like YEA! and WOAH!

Anyways, playing during the day is great. no lineups at all. Too bad work will get in the way again starting monday (new job).

If someone manages to do a "guild" make sure to make an obvious post. would be great. need a paying customer to start it.
anyone, anyone?

This game is a buggy mess. And that's not counting the issues with queues.

Getting stuck in loading screens that never finish loading.

Powers bugging out constantly, animations getting stuck leaving you unable to fight until you die (if you are lucky) or until you leave the instance and restart from scratch... maybe. No, not lag.

Tried their 'Legends' PvP, and my character had no actions or powers, couldn't even make a basic melee attack other than picking up and throwing barrels.

Went into their halloween event, it was just a recap of the existing Scarecrow instance cranked up to level 30 - and the other three people appeared to be just standing around, doing nothing. Obviously just an animation glitch, since things were losing health and getting knocked out.

I'd blame it on the influx of additional players to the servers due to going F2P, but some research on the forums shows that some of these issues have been around since beta, with no improvements.

Not saying its without its good points, but boy would I have been pissed if I had been paying for this.

There is a league. Someone invited me the other day. I think I have invite rights as well. Hit me up on Steam or something and I'll log in and try to invite.

That one annoys me the most. It happened back-to-back the other day and I just gave up on playing.

I mean you get through the login, the loading, the selection, the queue... and then nothing happens.

I added you on Steam. Throw me an invite if you can. "Blackened Night"

I've never had any of these issues yet. Hopefully they get it cleaned up soon.

Are you all PVE or PVP?

I'd love to join the League, Stele. I've already have you on Steam from our L4D2 days. Name is Kabar.

I just struggle with the controls both keyboard and mouse as well as PS3. The UI is crap as well. Inventory management along with that costume thing.. ugh with a side of yuk.

I play with an Xbox controller on the PC. Seems to me like the game is definitely made for that.

I'll invite you to the league if I see you on (the game doesn't allow me to send an invite to someone who's offline).

Quoting this from the other day, for those posting hero names and wanting league invites...

Just watch for us on Steam to be in-game or play on steam yourself so it tells us you're online. Apparently posting hero names doesn't help us too much, until we actually are both playing at the same time.

Well I did the download last night on my PS3. Maybe tonight I can login and create a character. Is there still an active PS3 population or is everyone on the PC side?

Yeah, I promoted you to the highest rank I could, so you can invite people.

For everyone else, as Stele mentioned, we can't invite you unless you're on. I'm on my main, Serra Angel, most evenings, so feel free to message me in game or friend me up on Steam.

Cool, i will try to fire off a message when i get on tonight. What's the league named? Can you do a /who GWJ or something to see who is on?

Oh are you hero or villain?
Hero is Wild Orchid and Poyzon
Villain is Porzon

Eh, I don't know when I will actually be on again. I purchased Skyrim. See you guys next year!

I am on now as Wild Orchid if anyone is on to send me an invite.
ive tried messaging you Serra Angel but it tells me serra is offline

im not sure how you send a tell to a 2-part name.

For two part names, use quotes:

/tell "Serra Angel" message

Its the same server, you 'phase' and choose which you want to be doing. Since its a toggle, you can just run back and swap sides again as needed. The PvE/PvP server selection at character creation is a holdover from before they did the server merges.

Nearly a gb patch today. Notes here.

I was finally able to track down Stele and get an invite to GWJ league. If anyone wants to group up just let me know. I have a level 30 fire spec hero.
My hero's name is Quantum Fissure. I have not done any duos or T1 alerts yet but I will help with anything.

And do we have a villain league or whatever it's called on that side? I haven't rolled a villain yet, but am thinking about it just to mix things up a bit.

That's a good name -- I'm surprised a name like that was still available. I'll try to find you in game; I'm usually up for duos or alerts.

That's a good question. I have no idea. A lot of my friends are playing their villains most of the time because their PVP queues are much, much faster -- if you're looking for PVP, villain side is definitely better from my understanding. But I've never made a villain myself so I don't know if GWJ ever had a villain league or not.

They've announced the next DLC pack on the official forums:

SAN DIEGO – November 17, 2011 – Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) will soon launch its second Downloadable Content (DLC) pack for DC Universe Online with the worldwide release of Lightning Strikes, later this year. Launching simultaneously on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC, Lightning Strikes introduces Electricity Powers – the game's eighth power set – and a new adventure starring the iconic speedster The Flash.

"In this DLC pack, fans have the opportunity to immerse themselves in another great character and action-packed story from the DC Universe," said Jens Andersen, Creative Director for DC Universe Online. "With exciting gameplay, a new power set and new locations to share with your friends, we packed a whole new kind of fun into this DLC pack and are eager for our players to dive into another legendary adventure."

In addition to the new Electricity Power set, DC Universe Online players will also be able to interact with The Flash-themed characters and content with new maps and features:

* Central City – An all-new map that offers players a more open world experience that provides on-going gameplay, with solo and group missions.

* The Flash Museum Duo – Players can now experience the Central City of today and tomorrow. In The Flash Museum Duo, players can travel back in time to the very moment when Barry Allen became The Flash and battle foes inside the Central City Police Station!

* Electricity Powers – Players now have the opportunity to get the new Electricity Power set for current and new characters. The new Electricity Power set allows players to leverage the lightning power of electricity and use new types of attacks in combat. Electricity Powers include the Tesla Ball, which creates a floating ball of electricity that zaps nearby enemies; the Shockwave, which shoots streams of electric bolts at enemies; and Ionic Drain, which drains energy from the environment to replenish a player's health while simultaneously damaging surrounding enemies.

* New Gear – Players can earn all-new gear sets including the new Zoom-inspired gear set for villains, and the new Black Lightning-inspired gear set for heroes.

* New Characters – Lightning Strikes brings players new iconic DC Universe characters including Livewire, Black Lightning, The Top, The Trickster, Static and more. New characters – such as Livewire – will be featured as new "Inspired By" options for players who can choose to create a new character inspired by some of DC Universe's legendary characters. Additional new characters – such as Black Lighting – serve as a bounty mission that players can fight if they choose to be a villain.

Lightning Strikes offers players a new story-driven adventure that offers up even more of the intense and fast-paced combat that distinguishes DC Universe Online, a game focused on superhero combat set in locations where gamers can showcase over-the-top powers in epic battles. The Flash adds another legendary superhero for players to battle against or alongside on their journey to becoming the next legend.

DC Universe Online's Lightning Strikes DLC pack will be accessible for free for all of the game's Legendary players and available for purchase for $9.99 USD for all Free and Premium players from the PlayStation® Network Store, through the in-game Marketplace and on the PC from the DCUniverseOnline.com website.

F2P version of DCU is bringing in 700% more money per day than before. Good lord.

Also, playerbase is growing by 6% a day, more than 85% are returning users, and "Additional character slots and the Vanguard of the Heavens character skins are the two most popular marketplace items."

I don't know how WoW is still charging $15 a month

Stele wrote:

We'll let you think on that a bit.

Well I'll be darned. Catalyst 11.11 out this week. In the resolved issues patch notes:

DC Universe Online no longer hangs soon after selecting a character and entering the game.

So I guess that was an AMD thing and not DCUO's fault.

I wonder if they'll ever fix the missing sound bug in this game? I've seen this game on 5 different systems fail to play sounds for some animations and worst of all sometimes NPC's!

It's pretty bad when you can tell a contact is giving you vital information about your mission but you hear nothing but silence as they gesture and do the talking animation.

Having played Champions Online for a while (a good, underrated, but not great game), Co made a big mistake by locking up powers. But yeah I think the DCUO F2P version is much better than the formula CO came up with.

Although: Player housing in CO was a big plus for me.
