Star Trek Fleet Captains

Anyone had a chance to play this? RPS raves about it. Boardgamegeek has it with an 8.2 rating. But the lowest legit price I've seen for it is $68. For that kind of money, I'd love to find out if someone else has taken the plunge.

It looks really good...

Haven't played it, but I loved the old Star Fleet Battles.

Looks really interesting! The story mechanic could be kind of cool though the blurring of crews... eh, wth right? Another game to add to the Xmas Wishlist. Now where's NSMike... We need to get this at PenguinCon2012!

I had a blast with that game soooo many years ago. May have to give this a look.

From what I read this might not scratch that SFB itch. Battleship Galaxies might but I don't think it has weapon arcs or shield facings.

I have it and have played a few times. The rules are long, but not complex, just a lot of options available as to what you can do. If you like the Star Trek universe, there's plenty to like in the game. As many have written about, the card stock is a bit flimsy and pretty much requires sleeves. After that, it's totally fine.

It's a good game and offers many play styles. You can go military, exploration, diplomacy, depends on your compliment of ships, which is random each time.

I recently played a game against two big klingon ships with my four smaller federation ships. Made them chase me around galaxy, as I could never go toe-to-toe with them. Use distractions while sneaking behind to complete "missions".

Lots of options and varied game play. Look at boardgamegeek for lots more info.

We need this at TurkeyCon so Hedgewizard can bust out his patented Simon Pegg impression.

I don't have anyone to play this with, but I'm tempted to just buy it and keep it in case they go out of print.

Yeah, from everything I've read, this is *not* tactical combat game. Don't mistake it for SFB.
