Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Catch-All

Turns out this is going to be in Redbox on release day. I'm gonna be up at midnight to reserve my copy. I'm not big into the MP so figure that even if it takes me a week to beat the game, the cost is 7 days * $2 instead of buying it.

Yes, I'm that cheap

This will be my second game purchase of the fall silly season, and one that I'll be murdered by my wife if I do not make. She loved watching me play the first two Uncharteds, and has been getting excited every time she sees ads for the third.

Today's my last day in Berlin, and as I was off to grab lunch with a friend, I came out of the U-Bahn Oranienburger Tor station to see this mural.

Taking that as a hint to order the game from Amazon and have it shipped to where I am moving to in the US.

That is kind of awesome. Yes I am a victim of their marketing but seriously if I just walked into the street and saw that I would have to stop and admire it.

Guys, you can cancel your pre-orders. According to the AV Club, the game sucks because Nathan Drake can't crouch and the gameplay is "archaic".

By the way, all you jerks on my friends list who were playing this last night are jerks.

Is it Tues yet?

How many of us play this series because of the game play?!?!? Personally I'm in it for the story / characters.

I love the AV Club for just about everything else they do, but their game reviews are pretty consistently terrible.

Agreed. It's baffling that they are so bad at something that should be a natural for them (given their target audience of overly ironic 20- and 30-somethings).

I beginning to wonder if they just purposefully post bad reviews to get more traffic. Every time they right a review that's incredibly off-base, they get a ton of people commenting on the story that just found it because of metacritic or through somebody else Female Doggoing about the review. If that were the case, than I'm a part of the problem since I posted the link to it.

I'd have found it anyway, I go to AV Club all the time for their TV stuff. What irks me most about the review is the minor, but annoying spoilers blithely bandied about--oh, and the psychoanalyzing of me and why I like the series. It's always a good idea to write about that.

In more credible news, Tom Chick isn't impressed.

Yeah, except he didn't much care for Uncharted 2 either, so if you loved that, I think you pretty much know where you're going to stand on his opinion of 3 (even though his review isn't out yet afaik).

No doubt Chick's embargoed until tomorrow.

Tom Chick lost his credibility with me a long time ago. He likes a very specific kind of game and Uncharted most definitely is not it.

Shipping notice finally.

Yeah, it's not out yet. To be honest, I mostly just find the idea that it's the worst Uncharted interesting, not necessarily that he didn't like it. We'll find out the truth tomorrow though, I'm sure.

FWIW he also thought Uncharted 1 was much better than Uncharted 2.

93 metascore right now, based on 58 critics.

I will buy anything that Tom Chick doesn't like on principle alone. That guy is a joke, irony for the sake of irony.

I can't wait to play this game.. if it's even half as good as Uncharted 2 it will be amazing.

Delivered!

Oh good news for trophy hunting. Finishing the game on Normal unlocks Crushing now. Had to do the first two games on Hard for my first run. This will be much more pleasant and can just enjoy the story.

Waiting for lunch so I can go pick mine up. So, so far away...

I think I might be too busy to play much of this until Friday night. I really need to finish this before Skyrim ruins my life next Friday.

Indeed.

I can't wait to get home today. Game should be on my doorstep when I get there in a couple hours

Waiting for my HVAC to be serviced, before I head out to pick up my copy. I should have scheduled this later in the day...

Out for delivery! Taking break from BF3 tonight for this. Can't wait.

It's in my hands, and once I'm done with these pesky work e-mails, it be on.

Wow, this game is solidly on page 2? On release day? I once thought about creating a metric to describe good games based on number of GWJ posts and retention of the high frequency of posts. Obviously, this would be an outlier. Or, maybe Uncharted will sink between BF3 and Skyrim? Say it isn't so!

There's also something about single player vs multiplayer games usually. Or perhaps it's even more divided when it's a system exclusive? Have had this discussion in both Mario Galaxy threads. Two of the best platformers ever, but barely any discussion.
