Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Catch-All

100 hours ... psha. That's what the devs said. You could spend 100 hours in there, but I doubt a normal playthrough would come to that.

The fact that it's the largest Zelda they've done, well, that's a different story. But 100 hours. Nah. Not unless you're crazy.

Edit: http://www.computerandvideogames.com...

They said Twilight Princess offered around 70 hours of gameplay as well. I doubt it took most gamers that much time.

54 for me, and I didn't do all of the side business. I wouldn't be shocked if I hit 70 in this one, if the world exploration is more interesting (as in Wind Waker).

I found every heart container, caught every bug, and completed every tasks, and I'm pretty sure it clocked in around 60-70 hours for me.

I don't care that much for a $20 gold wiimote + soundtrack. Regular edition from my brick and mortar for me.

I was on the fence, but the soundtrack is what pushed me over. This is the first time in the series it's been fully orchestrated!

Plus, my two controllers are from launch, and have seen better days. Having built-in WM+ helps, as I suspect Wii U will be using the peripheral also. And Gold!

Kind of a no-brainer CE for me. So few CEs have functionally useful stuff nowadays.

The unfortunate side effect is I'll likely be spending money on a black nunchuck (black and gold is one of my favorite color combos) to go with it, and maybe a gold CCPro from the Goldeneye bundle.

I came close to 100% but didn't have the stamina to go locate the few I missed and took just over 60hrs. So I'd say 70hrs was about right, if you tried to 100% it the first try without any outside influence.

Yeah I have that CCP, so I'm looking forward to having this to match. Since I used the CC to play SSBB, Mario Kart, and Muramasa, figured that would be a nice combo. I do feel a little weird about the white nunchuck but I already have 4 from way back when everyone was coming over to play the Wii, and there's just no point in buying a new nunchuck for color right now.

If I'm reading the Amazon product listings correctly, the soundtrack looks like a pre-order offer and is available for regular editions. The CE is sold out there though

Might be, I don't know, but in the video Cyrax posted the soundtrack was clearly in the actual game packaging.

Amazon doesn't seem to be offering a credit on this one, and Kmart isn't going to have the CE, so I've opted for a Gamestop preorder.

Yeah I did gamestop too, since it's a Sunday release. Makes me pretty sick to give them money, but I didn't want to wait until Monday for Amazon. Can get a lot of gaming done on a Sunday. And there might even be a Sat midnight release party.

I still might try to swing by Walmart at midnight and if I can get the CE there, to hell with Gamestop... we'll see.

Take solace in the crummy profit they get from sales of new games.

I only buy used there during great sales, B2G1s and such. And I really like most of the people that work at the one I go to, so it doesn't feel quite so dirty.

So I just watched the gametrailers exclusive trailer that farley3k posted on the last page. I honestly am totally psyched way more than I was before.

I need to somehow work out how i'm going to buy a Wii along with this game.... Do you guys think there'll be a bundle?

Target still has the Wii Mario Kart Bundle for $134.

From looking around Amazon and other places, that's probably the cheapest new console you can get.

*Is in the EU*

It looks like the cheapest i can get a Wii is for £120 ish (no game)... which is ridiculous when you consider what that is in dollars >:(

So Edge gave this game a 10/10. I guess the review was posted online but they pulled it.

I found a reposting of it here.

Holy crap, Jeremy Parish lost a lot of weight and looks kind of weird now.

He's definitely slim, but I never thought he looked overweight before.

Yeah, I also did and collected everything, and I think I managed to come in just over 60 hours.

Sounds brilliant.

So, here's a kinda spoiler-ish (didn't look too closely) artwork gallery, which shows some locations, chracters, and some of the weapon/items of the game including upgraded versions.

Google chrome to the rescue! We just lost power at work just now for a minute and outlook is basically decided it doesn't want to do anything after loading the program, but not any personal data, but chrome recovered the text in the post above. I was gonna abandon the post, too.

EDIT: and some more characters

I'm so excited for this game! I've been hoping for awhile that they'd make a more kid-friendly Darksiders game, and this looks like it fits the bill perfectly.

Another cool looking video. No story spoilers but some location ones I guess you could say.

Darksiders... is that any good?

For the record, here is the list of games that Edge has awarded a 10/10 over the 18 years it's been in print....

* Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64)
* Gran Turismo (Sony PlayStation)
* The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64)
* Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox)
* Half-Life 2 (Windows PC)
* Halo 3 (Xbox 360)
* The Orange Box (Windows PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)
* Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
* Grand Theft Auto IV (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)
* LittleBigPlanet (PlayStation 3)
* Bayonetta (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)
* Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii)
* Rock Band 3 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)
* The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)

That's some damn fine company.

I didn't expect to see Bayonetta in that list.

gregrampage wrote:

It was a reasonably controversial inclusion at the time. Having spent some time with it though, I kind of agree with it's inclusion. It's a spectacular action game that keeps innovating from start to finish. I think that it's presentation put a lot of people off.

EDIT - almost to a tee, every single game on that list can be called 'genre-defining', in that they are (or at least were at the time) head-and-shoulders above their genre peers.

Personally agree with all of those except for LBP, with those controls and floaty jumping crap and stupid limited lives nonsense, crappy checkpoints... ugh.

Bayonetta I still haven't played. The rest are solid.

Well, damn.

Time to dust off the ol' Wii. Or more accurately, find the box it's packed in.
