Bastion Catch-all (now coming to iPad)

The m/k has been tweaked in one of those patches. And that was a big improvement. Most complaints were solved with that.
So I'd go for the higher resolution and k/m.

Yeah, the day it released, they didn't have diagonal movement using the WASD keys (you are now able to move diagonally by holding 2 keys). That was just plain awful, but it was fixed the next day IIRC. Until that patch, I played it with the 360 controller, after which, I went back to m/k. While having 8 directions of movement as it is currently isn't as great as having analog movement, it's plenty to make it work fine. The advantages of using the mouse for aiming make it worth it.

Is there vibration on the XBLA version? Stupid broken arm isn't a big fan of that.

Yes, but I'm 99% sure there is an option to turn it off. Just download the trial version to check it out first.

There is an option to turn off vibration in the "Settings" section of the Steam version. I would guess that this option makes it into the 360 version, but I don't know for sure.

Edit: I'm not sure if this works, but it looks like you can disable vibration through the general settings on the 360.

I only played XBLA myself, but I understand the PC version has a little additional content (very small but a nice little easter egg) so I would go with that. I bet Supergiant gets a smidge more money, too. So all else being equal...

Oh good point, that easter egg is awesome.

I finally got around to playing the demo for this the other day on PC and was pleasantly surprised. Seemed like a great little game. To me the keyboard movement was a little annoying, I fell off the edge a few times because of all the diagonal movement designed in. When I buy the full version (next time it is on sale) I will try hooking up a gamepad and see how it goes.

There's no doubt the finesse of a gamepad is better suited, but you're going to fall off the edge sometimes, anyway.

It's part of the experience, whether it annoys you or not.

Bookmarking this thread for later consumption -- been playing this game whenever I haven't been cooking during the long weekend (Canadian Thanksgiving). Maybe I can get some weapon pointers that will allow me to branch away from the amazing upgraded musket + some melee weapon. Also, will I be able to level up enough to have a bunch of potions and subscribe to a bunch of gods? It feels like the game is already heading towards a climax and I'm only around level 5...

Subscribe to the Gods sooner and you'll level up faster. To max everything out you'll have to play a new game +.

The Bellows can be a good musket replacement, especially when you go against some of the armored enemies.

Can't believe you don't WANT a distance weapon. Again, seeing how something like the Mortar chews through armored enemies that would take you forever otherwise...

Almost everything is good powered up sufficiently but you have to wait for New Game+. I had a hard time letting go of the Fang Repeater once it had homing arrows. There will be a lot of places it is great, especially if you have a run-and-gun style.

awesome.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind.

And that, in a nutshell, is why I haven't bothered to go back to Bastion. I couldn't even finish the parody video.

Always a clocker.

Oh come now, the Smash Bros. bit was perfect.

Saw this on RPS. Somewhat amusing if you've played Bastion.

Bastion Narrator Invades Other Games

Let's count it out, guys.

6 posts up, MeatMan.

I blame RPS for being so late to post it on their front page.

I picked this game up on the recent Steam sale and man did I love it. The game just oozes style and creativity. I'm even listening to the amazing soundtrack right now. It reminds me a lot of the old Soulblazer series for the SNES. My only complaint about the game would be that there are a lot of customization options but many of them don't seem to have a significant interplay with the gameplay. The combat still has depth but the search space just feels kind of muddled. Anyway it's a minor complaint since I still enjoyed the gameplay.

Bastion demo is now IN CHROME HTML5. You cane also buy the game for chrome Pretty amazing.

http://chrome.supergiantgames.com/

Nitpicking, but Native Client (NaCl) in Chrome isn't HTML5, but as the name suggests delivering a native version of an app through the browser.

Incoming DLC (next Wed). Free for pc, $1 on 360.

The chrome version is rather nice. How does it work? Is it like an Onlive thing and it is being processed on the other end and streamed or is it dynamically downloading what it needs as it is needed?

I <3 Supergiant.

That's really cool of them, and I look forward to whatever their next game is.

I can't get the sound to work in Chrome. I'm currently on a mac.

The Chrome implementation seems to work well, and the DLC news is great!

I don't suppose anyone's got a steam gift of this just kicking around after the sale that they want to part with?
