Next year marks the 25th anniversary of the Shin Megami Tensei series, and it says a lot about the pace at which these games release that getting a new one just three years after Shin Megami Tensei IV feels sudden. There was a nine-year gap between Shin Megami Tensei II and Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturn. There were ten years between Nocturne and Shin Megami Tensei IV.

This was going to be the year I waited on EA’s NHL game to hit the EA Access Vault around playoff time. It’s not that I don’t like the games. Since NHL 09, this has been one of my favorite sports series, but the fall and holiday season gets a bit crowded.
