PAX

Cool things are happening all around, and as things come my way I'll be posting them here:

----------
Sunday, 4:30pm

A few final notes...

  • Omegathon Final and Closing Ceremony: Starts at 5:30 PM in the Main Theater, and echoed to Wolfman Theater.
  • Kirby Mass Attack: Very pink, very cute, and you can collect and control up to 10 Kirbies.
  • Extra Credits: James Portnow announced today they're going to be moving to PA TV in the near future.

Penny Arcade Expo is on its way. If you're joining us and the 60,000 or so of your odder fellows in downtown Seattle this weekend, you've got a great time in store.

We've done our homework, and we've got info to help you make the most of your trip.

GWJ Represent!

  • Your fellow forum-goers are going to be all over at the convention, and to make it easier to find each other, we have chosen a symbol to identify ourselves - Stan! See the PAX forum thread for an awesome example and a link to a printable PSD. Print one, add your forum name, and wear it with pride. Just don't hang it in front of your PAX badge.
  • Check the schedule for our luminaries showing up as panel guests. Why not heckle Podunk at the Serpent Theatre on Sunday from 4-5pm? He'd like that. We're sure.
  • The Official GWJ Slap and Tickle will be held on Saturday, August 27th at Kells Irish Restaurant and Pub. See this thread for details, RSVP here, and I hope to see you all there.
  • The 2011 Post-PAX Party will be held Sunday night at docbadwrench's house. See this thread for all the deets and to RSVP. Please keep in mind this is his house. Bring snacks, watch the noise, and carpool if you can so we don't turn his neighborhood into a parking lot. ;)
  • There will be unofficial gatherings and ways to meet up all weekend -- peruse the forums or keep an eye on Twitter, watch for the Stan, and come hang out!

Child's Play Logo

Just a head's up to remind everyone that this year's Child's Play annual toy drive for children's hospitals is still going strong. There are over 60 partner hospitals in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Egypt to choose from.

Things are going very well this year. The community has really come through with awesome events like Funde Razor, the Desert Bus, and too many individual efforts to list here. As of Friday the total stands at over a million dollars.

There's a lot more left on those hospital's lists, though, and a couple more weeks left in the drive to round things out. Want to chip in? There are still plenty of ways for you to help.

PAX '08

This year, the Gamers With Jobs crew descended on the Penny Arcade Expo in force, with over 25 members in attendance. Each day was filled with dozens of sessions, tournaments, impromptu gaming and more. After a great Friday night Slap & Tickle at the Elephant & Castle pub, we continued our real-life meet-ups with a D&D session expertly led by Kingmob, a Rock Band tournament appearance, interviews and, of course, tons of game coverage. Even our representatives within the PAX Enforcers crew were able to grab some time to join in on all the fun. Read on for our impressions of the games of the show.

*UPDATE* We're back with a new batch of game impressions from our very own momgamer! Mirror's Edge, Need For Speed: Undercover, Crysis Warhead and more after the jump!
