Gears of War

Gears and Beers: The Legend Lives On

Time:
03/07/2008 - 20:00 - 03/08/2008 - 02:00
Description:
Starts at 8:00 PM CDT. Too good to die. The Friday night tradition has not died off, Fed just stopped playing, so no one updated the original thread. Come out and face the humiliation of a chainsaw to the face, a grenade tag to the back or a last-man standing Chinese fingercuffs! We always welcome new players. You might not think you're that good, but then you'll witness Bagga in action and feel good about yourself again! Hop on Xbox Live, and ask for an invite to the game. If you don't have some of the regular G&Bs players on your friends list, send them an invite. You'll be playing space marine vs. locusts in no time. You'll also be wondering what you've gotten yourself into. This is normal and it will pass.

MLK Day Gears

Time:
01/15/2007 - 10:00 - 01/15/2007 - 23:45
Description:
Well, this weekend's Gears fiesta was certainly robust! Any interest in extending it into MLK Day, for those who don't have to work? I'll be online and looking to see if we can get a game together. I'll probably be on starting pretty early in the morning.

Gears and Beers!

Time:
09/21/2007 - 20:30 - 09/21/2007 - 23:00
Description:
Gears and Beers is the chainsawing sensation that's sweeping the nation! We play primarily on Fridays and Saturdays* around 8:30pm Central, but pick-up games can be had almost any night of the week - beers optional on worknights. Many a Coffee Grinder asks, how can I get me some o' that? The answer, gentle neophyte, is to send friend requests to several of the people who you see posting in this thread; chances are, they are the most frequent players. When a Gears game starts, or when one has an open slot, the people in the game will typically spam their friends lists for players. If you were only on one person's list, they'd have to be playing for you to get invited - so send out a bunch of friend requests! It is also perfectly acceptable to see that someone is playing multiplayer Gears and send them a message like "invite?", though of course the game might be full. *the Saturday game only appears on the event calendar on Saturdays, because there is only one Gears and Beers thread, but it IS there - it's just suspended in a xenon mist.

By not necessarily popular demand (Podunk's), we're going to try this out on Wednesday and see how it goes. If you Zombie Skate types are looking for a chaser (something to wash down the taste of brains after the rink shuts down) definitely drop by. GoW drew a solid group last time, and we could do that again. I'm up for a little GRAW, though, co-op or otherwise. Anyone got a similar hankering? Vegas is also on the table. We also need a host with a solid connection.

I'm starting a weekly late night 360 event for those of us who are on the West Coast, have kids, or are otherwise on Xbox Live into the late hours. I'm hoping we can get a regular crew together, because I'm tired of getting on Live just as everyone else is wrapping up. ;) We'll see how it goes. I'm thinking Tuesdays, 9pm to Midnight PST. Let's start on the 2nd. Who's with me, and what do you want to play? I'm listing it as GoW to start out, but I'm open to whatever. GRAW and R6:Vegas also seem like prime candidates.
