Torontonians: Are you going to Gamercamp?
Surprised not to see any posts about it. What is Gamercamp, you ask?
Gamercamp is a celebration of the art, creativity and fun of video games. Launched in 2009 by Jaime Woo and Mark Rabo, the festival captures the excitement and enthusiasm that kept us in front of the television well into the night.
I didn't go the last year, but have paid my $30 for what the organizers are calling Level 2. Day 1 offers talks on development, art, and the dreaded "games journalism" issue, and day 2 delves deeper into design development, as well as offering talks about gaming community and culture. The speakers primarily come from the indie world, but a few guys from the big leagues will be talking, too.
In addition to all the pontificating, there will be demos to see with creator commentary, and games to play. Because Day 1 will be held at the Toronto Underground (a very cool genre theatre on Spadina), there'll also be screenings of The Wizard and The Last Star Fighter.
If anyone else in town is going, let me know -- perhaps we can attempt an impromptu GWJ meet-up.

Probably not kosher, but just going to bump this once to see if it catches anyone's eyes. C'mon... it looks like fun!
