Starshatter Demo

It's demo time, and once again we're pointing out one of those that are not likely to receive as much buzz as the trial versions of let's say Painkiller or UT2004. The Starshatter demo (67MB) is pretty much a must download for gamers that are interested in space combat games. Wing Commander and Freespace fans definitely have a new title to look forward to now, however, even followers of the Homeworld series should check out this one as the strategic portion of the game also let's you command bigger battleships and carriers.

Starshatter

Another noteworthy aspect of Starshatter is its customizability. One can choose between joystick, keyboard or mouse driven controls depending on your preference. Elite freaks will be happy to see that the game also contains the (optional) 'roll approach'. And the gameplay options provide enough features to be enabled/disabled to appeal to both, arcade and sim fans. Did I mention planet missions and the multiplayer mode? The hardware requirements are moderate and the demo runs fine on my good old 800MHz machine. Starshatter, which is being developed by Destroyer Studios, is currently set for a release some time this spring and you should stop by the official homepage if you want to obtain some more information on the space combat title or see some shiny pics. Since my attempt to take an appropriate screenshot of the nice looking game didn't work out that well (see above).

I'd just like to step up to the plate for this guy. I previewed this game way back in the day for Avault and it's pretty darn cool. One thing to note is that the entire game was done by ONE SINGLE PERSON! There are tons of options and different ships to fly, and it's got a dynamic campaigns that adjust to how you do. Also it's got aspects of RTS where you can take over a command ship and dispatch your forces on missions to clear out sectors.

Basically it's really cool and you should give it a try. *returns to lurking*

This game is awesome, guys. I've been in the beta for ages, and love it. It's basically the game a lot of us have been wanting for a while. Sort of like a "falcon 4" of space sims. Dynamic campaigns, mods, and much more.

Freespace 3 is not on the horizon, might as well give this a try!

Now if they could add RPG elements like improving abilities like ... emissions controls, piloting, gunnery, electronics ... mmmmm ... dream space sim. And really really huge space battles AND ships mmmmmmmmm

Hey mebbe that would be a good thread ... what do you think would make a dream space - fighter sim?
