Dominion, anyone play?

Dominion is a turn based strategy game played through a webbrowser. Theres 18 races, you can read about the rules here.

The reason I like this game though is that each turn is an hour real time. It takes 12 hours to build a unit. So you check it a few times a day, like email. It can be great fun though, especially with a group.

Anyone ever played this?

Eeek I hope it''s simpler than the instructions make it out to be. I''ll maybe give it a go though I hope I don''t get my ass trounced quickly!

Well thats true, its not exactly easy to start out on, but it can be helluva fun, and its pretty easy to play once you learn the ropes.

Wow, that''s great to see this game talked about -- I know the creator. Really nice guy, smart as hell. The game is really involved, and has a religious cult following.

Pyro,

It appears, since the game won''t start for a few days yet, that the best course of action is to build as many buildings as you can right now?

I''m brand spanking new at this, but began building walls and towers for defense, with the vast majority of buildings going to Ore mines, factories, and masons, with the logic being able to build more army units at lesser costs.

My goal is to build a huge defensive army, I just want to stay alive long enough to get a real good feel for the game, and if I can persuade others from attacking me vs. a lower defensive area..I figure I stand a good chance at the begining to better build up my castle and offensive army.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Well, since the game wont start for a few days, I dont think anything will get built. I cant check however, because Im currently in a group and we all havent signed up yet, so they wont let anyone from the group log in.

Tips that I know, though Im still new:

Your first priority is to look at what types of units you want to build, figure out what types of resources you need to build them, and build as many buildings as possible to produce those types. Then go explore more land to build those buildings.

For instance, Im Gnome, and the only unit I build is Juggernauts, which use platinum and ore. So I build as many alchemies and ore mines as possible. Then I go explore as many mountains and hills as I can.

Also keep in mind you need to build some homes to get a bigger population. But this only really comes into play later when you start cranking out military units.

Keep doing this for a bit, then build as many units as you can. Rinse, repeat.

Your goal is to get your defense per acre (defense ratio) up to about 6. You can view this under Advisors -> Statistics Advisor. Below 6 and people will attack you and take your land, because you are ""landfat""
