Interesting stuff. Can't wait for next year's coverage!

Gamespot is always negative, bunch of idiots if you ask me. (IMHO) IGN''s preview is a lot better.
I am ready to play this at the end of next month. Doom 3 and HL2 almost around the same time. Sorry wallet.

I don''t get that. The preview looks okay for me, actually, it''s nice to not see them completely gushing, drooling and babbling about [whatever title] will be a new benchmark and whatnot. A little more distance doesn''t hurt, even if it''s not in your line with your personal take on the game.
I added IMHO for you Spunior
It is a known fact that Gamespot has had some very unqualified reviews in the past year or so by I think that Greg what''s his name guy. I don''t know because I never go their site much, if ever.
Xbox Live: Kooter06
To me they didn''t have more or less unqualified reviews in the past year compared to IGN/Gamespy. They got mostly slammed by Xbox fanboys for their Splinter Cell score and by Nintendo fanboys for their Mario Sunshine/Mario Kart ratings. Now if I, for instance, take a look at the Sacred and Gothic II reviews of Gamespy it doesn''t exactly communicate validity to me either. Of course, that''s my opinion.
At the end it doesn''t really matter to me personally how any of the big ones rate games because demos and feedback from people I know (e.g. in this forum) are more important to me than a single score at some site.
I''m not quite sure where Flux is coming from on this one...IMHO Gamespot is by far the most respectable of the big gaming sites. I''d certainly take a bad review from them over one from IGN or Gamespy any day of the week.
Examples? Or just hyperbole?

Oh, and Half Life 2 sounds pretty interesting. Here''s hoping they deliver on the 30-40 hours of quality gameplay we were promised last year.
Of course, I''d be happy with 10-20 if it''s fun.

I''m with Naked here. Gamespot is by far my first choice for online review reading. I don''t always necessarily agree with them, but I''d be hard pressed to question their professionalism.
On having read the actual GS preview, I''m impressed with their hype free thoughts on the game.

Opinions vary.
I think most of my hate did revolve around Xbox reviews, although it is has been a while and I don''t really care. I don''t own an Xbox anymore. I prefer reviews like we have here at GWJ''s front page and message board comments. Read a ""review"" from a site with supposed ""experts"" or read a 300 post thread about every detail of the game. I know which one I pick.

You mean next year''s previews of HL2?
