I have a lot of interest in this. It gives me a Men in Black vibe with some of the off-the-wall characters and monsters. I think I will see it.

Being a fan of the comic, and of Perlman, I''ve been really excited for this movie to come out. I guess I do have something to do tomorrow.
Awesome.

It sounds like a fun movie - most reviewers seem to love it. It''s been too darned long since we had a good action flick in the theatres!
Now on to trying to persuade the near-Mrs. to see this...
Everything can be debated, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's debatable.

I''m looking forward to this, and with Walking Tall in the theatres this weekend as well, it looks like its going to be a Movie weekend.
And this is supposed to be about a demon, right?

It''s Guillermo del Toro, dammit, I can''t believe you guys have no faith.

Or rather, I find your lack of faith... disturbing.

Ron Pearlman rocks. No matter what he''s in, I like what he does. City of Lost Children, Enemy at the Gates, he even made Alien Resurrection a little bit more fun.
I agree. As much as anything I''ll be going to see Hellboy because of Pearlman.

Got this and Punisher and Spiderman 2 out this year as well, so far, not bad. Anything is better than that hideous Daredevil movie, this coming from a long time comic collector.

lunabean wrote:Just a quick review (saw it last night), the movie was great and Perlman was perfect as Hellboy. Good acting, good story, moved at a brisk pace from beginning to end and was lots of fun the whole way through. Plus everything looked great, effects and set-wise.
There are NO phones ringing, Dammit!!!!!
Yeah I agree with yoric. Most of the people I saw it with were expecting serious action and were disappointed but if you expect a comedy with alot of action it''s pretty fullfilling. The action sequences weren''t particularly inspired but they were far from bad. Almost all of the actors except for whoever played Liz and the guy who played Rasputin nailed their parts. The two I just mentioned slipped up occasionally but weren''t bad. Perlman made the movie though, he was great.

I''ve fallen in love with Perlman, don''t tell my wife
Really, since a few of the interviews I''ve seen on this movie, I really want to see it now.

She looks pretty rough (intentionally) but she''s still pretty hot. At first I was thinking ""Aw sh*t, she''s going to be monotone the entire movie"" but after a scene or two I really liked her.

Woo, just watched it this afternoon and thought it was great. Makes me want to pick up the Hellboy comics I haven''t read, and with a comic shop nearby, I could definately do just that.

I''m going to see this tomorrow, so it''s good to hear that it doesn''t suck. Can''t stand the comics, though. Mignola''s art just makes me want to stab myself in the eyes with flaming oven mitts.

Saw it this morning and it was excellent. I would rank it just behind X2 and in front of X1 and Spiderman in terms of comic book movies.
I think the comparison to Angel is right on. A nice mix of action, horror, comedy, and drama. I am hoping it takes the #1 spot this weekend and they greenlight a sequal.

Selma Blair is (and has been for a long time) on my list of total cuties.
Selma Blair is cute, but she lacks something in the middle if you know what i mean.

And staying with the thread, it sounds like I was correct about Perlman doing well with the movie.

If anything, the movie was too short. I look forward to Hellboy 2, wherein Hellboy (aka Perlman) kicks the sh*t out of, mocks, and otherwise humiliates many more paranormal baddies as well as himself.

Umm, not very? I mean on the scale of say Alyssa Milano to Bea Arthur, she''s close to Bea Arthur in my book.
I guess ralcydan will hit that.
