Wonderfalls the new Firefly?

CEO

Amazing critical reviews. Genre fiction that is both quirky and interesting. Tim Minear. Low Nielsen numbers. Friday Night Time Slot of Death. On Fox. Fox getting antsy ...

I'm just saying, sounds familiar.

I've only seen one episode as my local station has pre-empted Wonderfalls twice now for, I sh*t you not, High School state hockey and basketball tournaments. Kinda reminds me how Firefly kept getting pre-empted for stupid baseball. For those of you who've seen it, what do you think? For those of you who haven't have you even heard about this show?

*edit* For those interested it looks like Wonderfalls may be getting a new timeslot. It's on tonight (Thursday) at 9 EST/ 8 CST. Might be worth checking out.

You''re Canadian, right? So doesn''t hockey pretty much pre-empt everything?

Wonderfalls is really good, actually. And just like Freaks & Geeks, it is destined for critics'' ""Best show nobody watched"" list. Sigh.

This is a toughie... I like *some* elements of it, but not others...I like the heroine, the bartender, Niagara Falls & the gift shop, the talking creatures (love the monkey!) and the concept. I guess the storylines are actually the weakest part, for me; they seem to take too long to get up to speed.

The thing with Fox is that they''ve had a *bad* track record on Fridays with SF/Suspense/Supernatural- even though ""X-Files"" started there...I think....

Remember ""Millenium""? Then there was the show about the tatooed guy who came back from Hell to recapture it''s escapees? Then ""Firefly""....

I have been watching Wonderfalls and find it pretty interesting. I too love the talking animals, and the herione is great. As usual though I am sure FOX will find a way to screw it up!

Aww damn network television, I can''t have Tivo record it. Maybe I won''t.

It leans a bit too heavily on its quirkiness at points, and the animals'' voice annoys the bejeezus out of me (perhaps intentionally), but it''s well worth a Season Pass on TiVo. Great acting, interesting writing - very original. And doomed.

Ahh Brimstone we barely knew ye.

But, yeah, the whole ""see a coin, pick it up"" part is kind of annoying, but it does make for pretty good episodic television. It''s a little less predictable than the usual fair.

I have to admit though, I''m very much against where the show is going. She''s so enjoyable as a maladjust, I can''t imagine watching if she gets all sweet and loveable. Then again, I watch Joan of Arc too...

Joan of Arcadia you mean?

Its an interesting concept. Joan is too teeny bopper and whiny for my tastes though.

One interesting thing I picked up (I think) from Zap2it or TV Guide reviews was that they thought an hour format was too long; that perhaps this was a better half-hour show.

I just hate that Fox has put it up against ""The Apprentice""- which I am *way* too hooked on. On the other hand, ""Apprentice"" is over in two weeks, so.......

I love it so of course I expect it to get cancelled.

I don''t understand why executives can''t understand that the Friday night time slots needs different rules. It is such a black hole that they have to think about it differently when looking at ratings.

Yeah, catching Brimstone reruns on scifi made me sad. The guy who played the devil was just brilliant. The main character was a little too broody, but their dialogue was great together. Which is good because it was about half the show.

I didn''t know it was another cancelled Fox show. Bastards.

There is NOTHING stupid about Baseball. Fox pre-empts everything for Baseball and I like it that way.

Hey, don''t get me wrong. I liked the show too. The only reason I knew what it was called was because my friends and I had been talking about it only a few days before. For more John Glover magic, I hear he''s pretty solid as Lex Luthor''s dad in Smallville.

There are lots of stupid things about baseball, but nothing less so than trying to show the first few episodes of a new TV series during the playoffs
