GAMING overload!
I hate this time...and I love this time...
its gaming overload..
The rare periods of the year when there are simply too many games to play and not enough time to play them..
The last 6 months were pretty quiet... sure some new titles came out but nothing that really captured my attention for long..
Now.. I'm staring at my desktop at 5 icons...
Battlefield:V
UT2K4
FarCry
Sacred
Wolf:ET
Too many choices! too many decisions...I can't take it...
Plus I have SP:PT on order for the Xbox...I'm still looking at Champions of Norrath on the PS2..
I skipped getting Harvest Moon for the GC...so that has to get picked up eventually...
Too bad I can't send the cloned me to work..and I could stay home all week and just play games..
Aint nothing new about the world order..it's been playing since the day they put George Washington on a quarter
85's face the truth you're too dumb.

In the past few years, the PC game industry has gotten incredibly stupid about marketing. Nearly all major releases are clustered around the ends of the fiscal quarters (except in the fourth quarter, where everything is released a month before Christmas).
This leaves huge dead spaces during the first 2 1/2 months of each fiscal quarter. Then during those last two weeks, they''ve got a huge number of AAA games competing for the same gaming dollar.
It''s just brain dead. A decent AAA PC game released in late January would have cleaned up, because there hadn''t been any new releases for nearly a couple of months and there weren''t any major releases scheduled for nearly two months.
The console industry does a much better job of positioning its releases.
Agreed. They''re shooting themselves in the foot by doing these gluts of releases. They end up burying games that could''ve done very well if they''d been released at another time. It''ll be nice if we ever get people who aren''t the worst kind of rejects running the business side of gaming.

Waaay too many games right now. A wise man (which I am not) would space out the purchases in order to enjoy the games, but I''m with GG in that I have a list (about the same) of games to go through. And I have a poor attention span to boot.

Luckily for me, spring break is coming around soon. I''m going to fit in much more gaming then usual in a day.

Yeah very lucky for you!!!!
Why do I admire videogames so much?
There's nothing else on earth that entwines art and science so closely.
This is great though. For the last 3 months I''ve kind of been in a slump with nothing I''ve really wanted to play. Now I have all kinds of great new games to play and since I haven''t done much in the way of gaming for the last few months everything is feeling really fresh and fun. I''m having a great time.
I''ve been spending all day with Far Cry and then jumping into Pandora Tomorrow in the evenings. Loving both games!
Plus I still have UT2K4, I''m thinking of Sacred if I read enough positive feedback, and for some reason Ive had the urge lately to revisit Wind Waker and finish it off.

When does Soldner come out? That looks pretty cool -- anyone had any experience with it in any way?

Soldner will be out in 5/4/04. I''ve been looking forward to that game, it reminds me of Tribes only not that far into the future.

Thanks! I downloaded and watched the newest trailer today -- it looks pretty cool.

Yup, a while ago though. I found it pretty neat because it mixes OFP, BF1942 and CS. It was only 2 vs 2, so I couldn''t check out how it plays at a larger scale and how the commander role works out (which somewhat resembles the commander in Savage, but is only focussed on leading his team rather than managing resources or something like that due to the nature of the game.) The Advanced Destruction System is nice, because you being able to level a building is somewhat more satisfying compared to Battlefield 1942/Vietnam, where a wooden cottage is enough to shield yourself against a nuclear strike (you get the idea).
I like it that way. When I was a child I got used to the (certainly sad) fact that there will always be more books I might want to read than I actually can read. Well, and same goes for games now. The point that I''ll never have the time to fully participate in a real GWJ session is more depressing to me.
Hadn''t heard of Sodner, so I went to their website to check it out. Destructable buildings and landscapes sounds and looks pretty good.
Man, 128 players would totally rock.
Yes the 128 part was very interesting aswell, not to mention the high selection of weapons and vehicles.
