Anyone else looking forward to Fable when it comes out? (Whenever that is
)
My wife is actually looking forward to that one and she doesn't even play on the Xbox.

Lunabean, when are you going to grow up and stop playing video games?lunabean wrote:

I will buy it. But its kinda wierd. Im going to buy it so I can studying it. If its good, I''ll get a lot out of it. If it sucks I want to know why.
Is that strange? To not care whether you are enjoying playing it, but to just make notes on it?
Being fangoriously devoured by a gelatinous monster.
The screenshots and feature list are pretty amazing. Waiting to see on the gameplay...

I''ve read just about everything out there and I am eager to see if it lives up to the hype or turns into another Black & White, which was neat for about 20mins then got to be a major pain.
I won''t be buying this immediately but checking reviews and hearsay first.
End of line
This is one of two titiles that made me go out and get another Xbox after I sold the first one (the other is Halo2). So yeah, I''m in.

Question: has anyone outside Big Blue Box (and Lionhead) actually ever played the game? All previews I read always looked as if the descriptions provided were based on hear-say. I was always under the impression that the authors constantly are like ""and [blah] is going to be"" or ""and you can do this or that"" and listing tons of features - but I don''t recall people noting how it actually feels. No ""and that part was really fun"" or ""[blah] really pushes the level of immersion"". I haven''t read every single preview available, of course. Really, when KillerTomato said
in the thread about the multiplayer part getting cancelled, it kinda pinned down what could be its downfall - the ambition beneath it.
I''m guardedly optimistic about this game. When''s the release date now? Something like Q4 2004?

I loved Black and White. Not because the game was fun, but because I liked going into work in the morning and being able to say with complete innocence what a blast I had spanking my monkey the night before.

Like mumford I''m cautiously optimistic. I''ll almost certainly end up getting it for the same reason I''ll get Duke Nukem Forever - curiosity! And I''ll hope for the best.

To tell you the truth I didn''t even care about the multiplayer aspect of it, though I would purchase it with or without it. I am guarded about it as well, but there are only a few games that I am going to buy for the ""box"" this year and this is one of them (along with Halo 2 of course).

I still retain hope that it''s going to be good. I also really like the website. It''s well designed.

I''m basically indifferent to this title. I don''t trust morlock as far as I could drop kick him...but will see what the scoop is after it comes out.

Did Samurai Jack ever get back to the past?
I think between this, and Sudeki, the Xbox will finally have some good RPG type gaming, other than lame PS2 or PC retreads, and KOTOR.

I have to agree with the RPG comment, I was hoping since the ""box"" was from Microsoft that it at the very least could port over some stuff from the pc....man was I wrong.

I hated Black and White, it became too difficult too early, in my opinion. Definitely going to wait for GWJ reviews before I give Lionhead studios any more money. The previews look nice and all, but I''m suspecting this game will be on the short side.
"But 2004 might be ancient for a teenager, with their hippin' and the hoppin' and the bippin' and the boppin', they don't know what the jazz is all about." - Gravey
It''s a good thing that they delayed Sudeki - because the version I got to play was rather boring, generic and the camera was absolutely horrible.
Well, you have to keep in mind though that the game is being developed by Big Blue Box though - one of LH''s satellite studios - despite the Molyneux-esque hype surrounding it. The Peter himself has a ""consulting function"".
I hate webpages that open in new small windows... but this one since it lets me burn stuff, harm old ladies and the like is pretty cool

I''ve got great hopes for the game. Peter Molyxe isn''t the only one in charge this time and that''s why it could be great.
You think he got that music guy (what''s his name?), no that was MS.
You think MS is aware of how dull Black and White was? You bet they are. I''m sure Peter is aware as well.
The guy has an awesome imagination, is a huge contributor to the game industry, he can just fade off in his own imagination though, and needs other leader to pull him down to earth.
""Yes, Peter, but what about the GAMEPLAY?""
I''m not too optimistic about Fable. It''s being developed by one of those indie UK studios that sprung up about 7-8 years ago with the demise of Bullfrog. The only 2 good games to come out of them were Urban Chaos and Startopia. Fable''s development pattern seems far more similar to that of Black & White, Republic or Galleon.
With every preview they seem to be reining in the feature list. Again like the above games.
Sig-free since 1996.
I''m looking forward to it, but I''m not getting hyped about it. As long as its a fun and customizable RPG experience I''ll be satisfied. They''ve got some talented people working on it, they just need to make sure they stay focused on making a fun game and don''t get distracted by being innovative for innovation''s sake, which is all the (thankfully) canceled multiplayer component would have been. I think they''re going in the right direction.

Over at WorthPlaying They have a new trailer for Fable from the GDC, as well as new trailers for a few other new high profile games that should be coming down the pipe in the next few months.

For those who were wondering about the actual gameplay, here''s some hands-on impressions at GameSpot.

Crap man....polish up the frame rate and camera and ship the stupid thing already! *wheezes* I''m alright. I know, let them keep the game and fix it up so we have nothing to complain about, it''ll be ready when it''s ready. sigh
