KOTOR made me drop my jaw
Friday, March 12th, 2004 - 11:46am
Not a spoiler, or maybe, I guess, but not really.
I've not finished KOTOR, but I want to share that after not sleeping until 4:30am yesterday(Er, technically, today, last night I mean), after "finishing up" with the beautiful Manaan world (Thank you Geforce card!), I found out the whole story about Darth Revan, and I actually dropped my jaw for a minute there.
It has got to be the coolest thing ever.
I still have to explore Kashyyk and Yavin, please tell me I still have another 30 hours of game left...
BTW, why won't that damn Zaalbar share his life story with me? Damn social outcast! I saved you, furball!

Oh no... I barely survived going trough NWN, and now you made me return to KOTOR... Have mercy people, I need sleep...

Mex, you still have plenty to go, I think my total time ended up being around 50 hours.
Minor spoiler....
Zaalbar will talk to you when you get to Kashyyk.
I had my suspicions, but I didn''t think they''d actually do what they did. I too was pleasantly surprised by the story.

That game took me about a week, and everytime I thought I was done, a whole ''nother part opened up. A buddy of mine was going on vacation and I convinced him to let me ''babysit'' his XBOX while he was gone just so I could play that game. Great time.

Am I the only one who saw the twists in that game coming from a mile away? I mean it was fun to watch, but I had it figured out from the second world.

Oh, I just know you''re the guy at the movies that goes ""Watch out, I bet he''s gonna kill her! Ah! There! You see, I told you. Hmm, that guy looks evil, but I know he''s the good guy in the end. Aha! See! Told you.""

I saw it coming too, I just didn''t think they''d actually do it. At that point I thought some stuff was still goofy such as the whole Jedi Counsel, and that chick (I''ve forgotten her name now). They knew about the plot twist, but they had to act as though they didn''t. Whenever that happens in a movie it''s usually goofy, and never explained to a point that would make sense.
I thought they did explain it, and made their actions leading up to it fairly believable. That''s what I didn''t think they were going to take care of, but they did and I was happy.

I don''t say it outloud, but yeah. I''m totally that guy. I''m actively disappointed if I don''t figure out the big secret first.

I was dropping my jaw too, one of the best Star Wars stories EVAR ! I think it took me about 53-54 hours to beat.
Still undecided about the combat engine though it''s kinda clunky.

I''m a bit like Elysium insofar as I think I''ve seen most twists and plotlines before and nothing this forumlaic plot industry has suprised me since early 2000. But for some reason I was caught totally off guard by KOTOR and I think that sent an already well polished game to ""great"" status, I really was surpised, though I wondered why Revan was so short until I realized my character was female.
Still thats the quality I''d expect from the makers of BG, something they didn''t deliver in NWN. Back on form!

OK, I *must* get KOTOR now, to play in my utterly non-existent free time.

Yeah, I keep meaning to get to it myself, but other stuff keeps coming up... like UT2004 next week. Sleep is such a goddamn waste of time, but I can''t do with less than 6 hours a night.

I was lucky with KOTOR. When I picked it up I was on an extended business trip. 3 weeks away from home with nothing to do at night aside from eating a quick meal and going to sleep. That made for some quality late night gaming. I was able to push through it before I got home.

KOTOR is my number 1. it finally moved halo off the greatest game evar throne I have in my head..
Now that they''ve got the new space station available for download, I''m getting ready to play again.
Can''t wait.
Have to beat Ninja Gaiden, first, though.

Heh, i just called in sick for 3 days! Did nothing but kick back and soak in the game. I wonder if the sequel will be an Xbox 2 launch title?
Did anyone ever hear how it sold on the pc compared to the Xbox?

I highly recommend playing it through on both the dark and light paths. Some of the coolest surprises in the game only occur if you are a dark jedi, plus the ending sequence is totally different.

Thanks, Stric9...I was debating on whether or not to play it through a second time, and I think you''ve sold me!

I must agree, KOTOR had be hooked more than any other game in recent memory. The story made my jaw drop several times, and I also loved the graphics.
It was arguably the best SW story in years... which immediately makes it one of the best Single Player games I''ve ever played, but the abrupt ending and cheesy romance just barely kept it from stealing System Shock 2''s all-time best crown in the SP category.

Oh, and Veloxi - came back to JumpGate after seeing Muffy''s supreme pimpage - trying hard to balance it and RL (I think I''m succeeding). Even though the numbers are low caompared to the old days, the player base seems more active and content than before... absolutely loving it!

I was thinking about watching Episode II tonight because I realized I bought the DVD when it first came out (only because I got it for $9) but never watched it since the one time in the theaters. Somebody knock some since into me!

Hey there, I''m really happy to hear that! Are you playing on the US server, and if so, what''s your handle? If you have any questions or need hints, please don''t hesitate to ask via PM or email. Enjoy!
We now return you to your regularly scheduled KOTOR thread,
Please Flux, do not watch Episode II <smack>
