I miss "Podunk Stomp"
Anyway, about minecraft... You were playing the free version perhaps? I think it only has the creative mode and not the survival mode which has the monsters, the crafting and stuff.
Loving Monday Night Combat with the GWJ crew. It's got more depth than I first thought. So if you just played the tutorial and maybe just a bit more, it needs a bit more time IMO.

I was just thinking this.
Dear Jonathan,
I like variety, I have enjoyed some of the musical interludes you have placed into the shows since taking over production duties. But please add some Podunk back into the rotation. Los Pistoleros would be nice.
Thanks.
Oh yeah, Rabbit, the only TF2 hole there is, is you not playing TF2 with us.

Yeah, gotta pay the $10 to get the monsters ... and the insanely complex trigger system (which, I might add, you really don't need to use, ever, to do some cool stuff). Also have to play with the difficulty turned to something other than Peaceful.
Anyway, yeah, Dwarf Fortress 3d comes about as close as any other description for the game that I've heard.
Edit: And to be honest, I didn't get the appeal of the game until I actually played it. Before that it just seemed too abstract and, well, pointless.

Roger that!
While I'm really turned off by the anime aesthetic, Recettear looks pretty awesome! I watched a couple of YouTube videos of it at work and the concept looks very unique and fun. I'll grab the demo when I get home. I'm hoping it doesn't have the typical Japanese design element of suddenly becoming insanely hard and requiring hours of grinding to advance beyond a certain point.

I appreciate it!
Yeah, same for me, but once you start playing, it really, really sucks you in. I killed way too much time on this this past weekend. Also, it has some truly awe-inspiring vistas which was surprising to me since it is done in an 8-bit art style.

This.
When you play the game as it's intended - online multiplayer in Crossfire mode (team vs. team) - you'll quickly realize that MNC has a lot of depth in terms of class selection and strategy as well as team tactics. It's very addictive, especially when you form a XBL party of 4-6 and play on the same team.

Just got to the part with the email about ideas for Telltale games based on old movies. Here are my suggestions...
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
Bachelor Party
Raising Arizona
Blazing Saddles
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
Steam: [GWJ]MeatMan
Jersey Shore would be rad as a Telltale game.

New catchphrase: "[blank] years ago called: wake the f*ck up."
Edit: And I say go for a new Blade Runner game; we need something like. And if they could make a Jurassic Park game like theHunter, that'd be awesome.
Doubt edit: And it sounds like Corey will fit right in when he gets to San Francisco.

Just finished the demo of Recettear, and it was a ton of fun. Looks like it's coming to Impulse September 10th. Not sure what the pricing's going to be, but if it's $20 or less this is a first day buy for me.

Yeah, the online free one, Minecraft Classic, isn't being updated anymore. You want Minecraft Alpha - the pay version. In single player Alpha, aka Survival mode, monsters spawn at night and underground. Multiplayer Survival is slowly coming along - he's got day/night cycles and some animals spawning but no persistent inventory yet.
Liquidmanitis is currently running a multiplayer survival server, which is basically just creative mode at the moment.

I just figured out what about the title "Recettear" was subtly bothering me: it's almost, but not quite, a palindrome.
"Recettecer", anyone?
Victoria 2 sounds cool, I'm looking forward to hearing how the game plays. The manual was really talked up, I might find that just to read it.

Lara Croft & The Guardian Of Light, or How To Play A Game With Your Wife, as I like to call it.
Mrs. Jonman has always struggled with twin-stick controls, and has, up until now, avoided any game that features them like the plague.
We've been really enjoying it though, the difficulty is pitched about right where actionwise, it's a pleasant cakewalk for the enthusiast gamer (me) and reasonably challenging for the more casual gamer (her). The fact that the penalty for death is minimal serves to prevent frustration from ruining the game.
The puzzles are pitched just right where we're experimenting and calling out ideas to each other all the time. The satisfaction of overcoming the challenges together is superb.
One thing I did note was that the Tomb Raider branding seems to be completely superfluous. The story elements are completely disposable, and I can't help but feel that replacing Lara with generic game character #9 wouldn't affect the quality of the game whatsoever.

Oh absolutely. I think it was also part of getting the wife to give the game a shot. She's played and enjoyed Tomb Raider games in the past, so she was that much more willing to dive into a game-style (twin stick shooter) that she traditionally wouldn't have.

I have a question for the Scotchy Laura Crigger. Have you tried my favorite scotch, Laphoraig? It's not something that very many people like because of the Peatyness, (is that a word?) But if you do like it, you get 50,000 Drinkerpoints on DrinkBox Live.
Also I am looking forward to trying out the new Laura Croft game, I am now convinced!
Great show as always, and thank you guys!

How about "Revenge of the Nerds" as an old movie Telltale remake? Or Animal House?

That's right. Sometimes I smell of tequila.
(Haven't gotten a chance to listen to this ep. yet. Where does this interesting tidbit about myself come in?)
Yes, I have; Laphroaig's a good go-to scotch. It's not my favorite, but I find the more aged you go, the tastier it gets. We always have a bottle of 12-yr on hand.

Words cannot express the magic captured by this suggestion. But alas, they already tried a Bill & Ted game, and it didn't go over too well.

I concur with the excellence of the suggestion.
A Big Lebowski game would be awesome in its banality.
I thought it was a Coen Brothers movie, but just checked and it isn't, but Welcome to Collinwood would be an excellent adventure game.
*edit*
And I have to say, Jonathan's total confusion about MInecraft made it seem bizarrely appealing.

Not a bad show, really enjoyed the Convetioneering topic - one day I hope to attend and will use those words of wisdom to save up for a blazer and some tic tacs.
