Saw THIS thread posted and locked in the Everything Else forum, but couldn't find a thing about the game over here.

Played the PS3 demo, and it was extremely 8-bit and rather awesome.

Be warned, it is super hard. The levels are long as hell and there aren't any checkpoints. I plan to head back and bang my head against it for a lot longer before I give up though, which must mean that it is fun.

Three suggestions:
1- Bionic Arm
2- Bionic Arm
3- Bionic Arm

It's in the secret shop in the underpass, and it gives you +50 STR. Grab it, and you can rock worlds with ease.

I assume that you need a friend or two to really get through the game (sort of like Castle Crashers). Because of that, I was thinking about going for the 360 version... however it seems like there's no online play at all. Not even any "drop in/drop out" co-op, which seems kind of weird.

Still might go for the game anyway because my brother and I seem to be able to have fun slogging through these sorts of things (hell, we went through the Watchmen game together!).

You know what? I've been playing it single player for a bit and, although I died on the first level the first time I played, I gathered lots of money and was able to buy stat boosters to help out. Even a +10 to strength is a huge help and makes a single player game much more straightforward.

Up to now, I love this little game: it's gorgeous, the music is great, and it definitely scratches that River City Ransom itch.

Warning: The last level is looooooong, and just when you think you're at the end, you are most assuredly not.

Is this out for XBL yet? Or is that tomorrow?

Life and death appeared to me ideal bounds, which I should first break through, and pour a torrent of light into our dark world.

I bought it for PS3, but now I'm wishing I waited. I know it doesn't have online, but.....achievements. I have barely played it because its too hard with only 1 player. Oh well, its only money, right?

The book shop and record shop in level 1 have some stat boosting items that can help a lot. I struggled at first, but monstered it, single player, after grinding the first two levels a couple of times. The subspace areas are good for cash if you kill all of the flying pigs. Once you level up and unlock some attacks and buy some items, it is a lot of fun rather than frustration.

The secret shop helped me in my first play through, especially bionic arm, but I am trying to avoid it this time. I had a look at the shopping guide on gamefaqs after my first run-through , and it is possible to max all stats with around $600, apparently, without using any of the premium items from the secret shop.

Going back and replaying with another character, I found it much easier; combat is about rhythms and patterns.
