iPad Games (and Apps) Catch All

Carcassonne - The Castle is another great Knizia game.

Thanks for the reminder! I only played a bit before my kids got to it. I'm hoping it adds some zing to Carc.

Haha, don't get your hopes up too much. It's definitely still Carcassonne. The decisions are a little trickier though.

We played a great Knizia game last Friday where you drew tiles with animals on them from a bag. Very simple, but a ton of fun as the inherent decision was whether to continue to press your luck ("No whammies!").

Thematically, it sucked, and the art was not very good. For a game that simple, it didn't matter. I'd play it again in a heartbeat, but for more complicated (longer) games, I've got to have good themes.

Botswanna?

I have no idea, but he can't have many that fit that description, right?

Any mention of a release date for The Walking Dead: Episode 2 for iOS? Grew frustrated attempting to browse their forums.

Next week.

Just having a look at the Magellan synthesiser as the featured App for $5.49

I was toying with dipping my toe in the virtual instrument pool, and then I saw this, also 'heavily reduced' from $10.49 to $2.99 'for a short time only'.

I know some of you were discussing iOS musicmakers a while back in the thread, any comments on these two?

Apparently, SqEnix' DS sweetheart The World Ends With You is coming to iOS. Anyone planning on getting it? I own it for the DS, but never got further than 30 minutes in. Plan on finishing it before I turn 35 though, because that two-screen combat is irritating. Maybe the iOS version could remedy that?

Looking forward to some GWJer reviews...

I'm on the fence about getting it. It was one of my all time favourite ds games, but I'll wait and see what the port is like. I'm guessing it will be around ten to fifteen euro like the other square games, and I'm on a budget at the moment:/

If you still have it on the ds you can just ignore the top screen and hack randomly on the buttons while you play the bottom screen...

Looks like the fan favorite Spectromancer (standard & HD) came out this weekend.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned - I'm new to the iPad and am still making my way through this thread - but Galaxy on Fire 2 is on sale right now for 99 cents.

Well, I already had it and I caved. Bought the HD one just for the graphics - and the Supernova add-on is imminent! Woohoo!

Shows as 9.99 for me.

I finally loaded up Lost Cities this weekend. What a great little game, and the app works very well. It even saves your profile across an iPhone and iPad, which is a bonus. I'm not that good, but let's play some online games.

Do you know if online is live or async?

It was apparently a weekend sale and ended at 9 EST. Sorry for getting your hopes up!

And it's showing 99 cents in the US store again. The forum I found the above info in was obviously wrong.

It's a-synch, through Game Center.

Back at $9.99 for me. Looks like they can't figure out what they want to do.

For any interested Summoner Wars players who aren't following the catch-all, we are organizing a GWJ Summoner Wars tournament. So if you are interested head over to the tournament thread and sign up!

Anyone using TextExpander? It appears most of my apps support it, but five bucks is over my "just buy it and try it" app threshold.

I finally played some Ascension yesterday after having it on my iPad for many weeks. Within an hour I'd bought all the expansions. I was up until 3 a.m. playing. It's like crack.

I use it everyday @ work and love it. However if you do not type repetitive phrases / paragraphs / sentences over and over then its really only good for changing things like ttfn to Ta Ta for now when you text message someone.

Yes, yes it is. I've been playing a bunch of games with Oilypenguin, the asynchronous play is really nice. Kick me a friend request on Gamecenter (Teneman I believe) if you'd like to play.

Friending you up, Teneman. I'm muzzynj on Gamecenter.

I figured I'd shamelessly plug the new Ascension Tournament ITT as well. All are welcome and encouraged to join!

Sigh, double post fail.

Um, yay iPads!

Bastion for the iPad. $4.99

Toucharcade plays Bastion

Official FAQ

It's only for iPad 2 and 3! I seemed to have missed it on XBLA and PC, so I'm glad I get my chance now!

Bastion was such an amazing experience. I could walk around the bastion all day listening to that song.

I have heard that type of comment before which means I might have to turn up the sound on my iPad for the first time in months.

I just finished Bastion on PC on Tuesday. It was an absolutely wonderful experience and WELL worth $5.
