w00tstock Sea/Port/Chi/Minn: Adam Savage, Wil Wheaton, Paul and Storm, other geekery
Is anyone planning on going to w00tstock in May, or been to the shows last October? I had never heard of it until last night at the Jonathan Coulton concert, when Paul and Storm (who I had also never heard until last night) mentioned it. If you aren't familiar, lemme break it down for you, quote-style:
For decades, geeks were ostracized, picked on, laughed at and punished by the sun’s harmful UV rays. But there is only so long that a people can be kept down before they rise up against their oppressors; and, indeed, the dawn of the 21st century has seen the ascendancy of geeks and geek culture. We now celebrate that rise to power–and let’s face it, nerds pretty much run everything now–with w00tstock, a special event for geeks of every stripe. Television host/special-effects artist Adam Savage (“MythBusters”), actor/author/blogger Wil Wheaton (“Star Trek: The Next Generation”, “Stand By Me”) and music-comedy duo Paul and Storm (hey; that’s us!) present a night of songs, readings, comedy, demonstrations, short films, special guests, and other clever widgets born from and dedicated to the enthusiasms, obsessions, trials and joys of geek pride.
This is the dawning of the Age of Geekdom–and its voices will ring true at w00tstock.

So I have no idea what to expect, but already convinced my better half to drive us down from Vancouver for the weekend, so we have our tickets for the Seattle show—honestly, I'm not sure which of us is going to try to run away with Adam Savage first.
If you went to the shows in SF and LA last year, what was it like? If you live near Seattle/Portland are you going in May?

I'm intrigued. Any idea what the ticket prices are?

Tickets are $25 advance, and can be bought here.
I'm canvassing my geek buddies to see if any else are interested.

I am tempted to drag my brother along since I know he liked Paul and Storm from PAX last year but I dont know if we will since we have stuff going on Saturday as well.

It's a good excuse to go to Portland. I'll have to sleep on that for a bit.

My wife and I are planning to go, but we're trying to find a way to get some tickets without paying TicketSmasher fees. I think we can just get them at the Aladdin itself? It's only a few miles away anyhow, so maybe I'll check with them.

Let me know if they are selling them there. I'm not paying $8.25 in fees for 1 ticket.

OP updated with special guest info. The Seattle show will include MC Frontalot (yay) and Molly Lewis. (Frontalot is also playing a separate show on the 8th, but two nerd events in a row is too much for the missus.)
Anybody else confirmed? If I was a proper goodjer I'd've ordered a GWJ shirt to wear there, but I haven't done that yet so I won't. We've booked a night at the Moore Hotel (convenient that), so if I see you there, hooray, and if not, boo hiss.

Posting for tracking.
If I go it'll be to the show in Chicago. S&T?

It was awesome. I mean, really really great. Four solid hours of music, talks, videos, and lulz. And as fantastic as it was, and for how good I felt to be there, it must have been a fraction of what a PAX must be like. So now I'm very much considering getting my ass to September's.
The wife's only goal for the show was to get her picture taken with Adam Savage. But despite not being as nerdy as everyone else there (or at least insisting she wasn't), she surprised herself with how much she enjoyed herself (no more groans when I play MC Frontalot in the car as she'll be able to recall his dancing). Then to top it off she got her picture taken with Adam and Wil Wheaton at the signing afterwards. I got their signatures on the poster and will frame it and hang it above my computer.
We took a few recordings, including all of Adam Savage's talk, which I'll post soon (probable spoiler if you're going to the June shows). Until then, here is someone else's recording of Paul and Storm and Wil performing Trololo:

Enjoy! Adam asked us not to post this, so don't tell anyone okay?
