Any Backloggery users out there?

It's been around for a while, and maybe it'd help for all thos people trying to clear their piles, but I can't find any threads on it.

So, I present to you, the Backloggery.
It does a pretty good job of allowing you to categorize your games and track what has yet to be overcome, with a bit of a social element to it that's not intrusive.

I have my backloggery here. It's helped show me, despite what I thought to be true, I leave a decent number of games unfinished.

So, who else uses it? I know there's at least a handul out there! What features do you find most useful?

I use it as a list and reminder of what games I actually own/have played. I also sometimes use the fortune cookie feature to decide for me what to play. It's quite handy.

Aside from that, I just love categorizing things.

I'd thought about starting a thread, since both trueheart and SocialChameleon had theirs up. I'm here, once I bother to get up and running.

I did have a quick question, though: does the site have any automated features at all, or am I entering all the information for every game myself? I wasn't sure if I was missing something, features-wise, or if it's pretty much a "you enter what you got and go from there" sort of thing.

Either way, looks like a nice way to try and keep track of stuff -- as well as a way to both incentivize and distract from clearing that pile.

I'm pretty sure it's all manual at this point, which can make it hard to track if others are playing the same game, if you're into that.

I signed on over there back before I heard of anyone using it on GWJ. The thing is, I can't remember all the games I've played, so my list is much smaller than it should be.

I picked up Game Collector for tracking stuff like this. I'm not big on the manual entry for everything. Once you get it straightened out, join us in our monthly attempt to reduce the number of unfinished games.

I added those of you who posted links as friends. I was feeling lonesome on the site. I hope that's alright.

A link for the lazy? Is it better enough to perform a switch-over? Does it have inputs for finished / completed and own / no longer own sorts of things?
/being too lazy to look it up myself

I also know ign sort of does this tracking thing as well, but backloggery seems to function better for my needs.

I really appreciate the manual entry as it allowed me to add some games that IGN's gamestats doesn't have listings for. Also, once gamestats was taken over by IGN and left a text-only format, it became insanely slow-loading; something that isn't a problem with backloggery.

Keeping up with friends and seeing little status updates, sending messages, etc is fun and motivating at times. For example, Vrikk taking a stab at Final Fantasy IX got me to start it as well. Allowing you to use your own custom banner is also nice.

This looks like an amusing and somewhat useful site, glad you posted it.

Unlike a lot of folks I don't feel any great angst or sense of obligation about my backlog, but especially after all the Steam and D2D holiday sales my pile grew so large that I sometimes have to think hard to remember what's in it. This should help with that issue quite nicely!

So, I just added a bunch of games via looking at my achievements list on XBox.com and...

...wow, is that depressing.

I was fairly picky/choosy over stuff I've put into the 360 tray in recent months, and didn't include things I've stuck in the tray only once to see the main menu and that's it.

So, thirty-eight games, fourteen of which I've "beaten," twenty-four of which are still "unfinished," as defined by Backloggery.

Man.

Only listed about eight or so as "currently playing," though that feels a bit like a lie. Anyway, it's interesting actually seeing the numbers breakdown, I guess.

Man.

If you're never going to finish a game, you might as well put it in the 'null' category, so it's not counted against you. That's what I do. There are some games I've played, but just decided to adandon b/c I didn't really care for them enough to push through and there's no chance I'll ever go back to them.

Thanks for the advice. Red Steel goes there.

edit

Got maybe half of my PC games registered. Putting the handheld and GC games up will be laborious to say the least.

In my list, "null" only applies to sandbox games with no "campaign" (but not all - for example, Sins of a Solar Empire which I might consider "beaten" after getting most achievements or being able to win games in my sleep) or multiplayer-only titles such as Enemy Territory.

Still, everybody's definition varies (for example with "what is goes into the PC/DL category vs PC-only").

I always just throw it under "PC." No need to diferentiate between download and disc.

I use "null" for games I haven't technically started. I may have to throw in games that I will never finish or have abandoned.

This is how I do it:

Null - Games I own but don't play (hubby games). Games on my wishlist.
Unfinished - Unfinished.
Beat - Beat the final boss. Saw the ending credits.
Complete - Unlocked everything. Collected everything.
Mastered - 100% achievements. Misc. Challenges.

I'm afraid of the monster I would reveal if I were to post my entire backlog. I use the site but only post a few unfinished games at a time then pick one to play maybe with the fortune cookie.
