Good, Cheap iPhone headphones?

I lost my headphones somewhere but I would like to start using my iPhone for listening to podcasts again. I will need to buy something but I am not an audiophile by any stretch so I don't need anything great but of course I can't use any old headphones because of Apple's wonderful design! So does anyone have any recommendations for cheap iPhone headphones?

Que? Last time I checked (about 3 seconds ago) the iphone still used a regular headphone jack, supporting any old headphones. I have a pair of Sennheiser behind-the-ear headphones that I use with my Iphone, just because of my irrational affection for that particular form factor.

Yep...any standard stereo miniplug headphone will work. You will have to spend a little dough if you want an integrated microphone, though.

The actual Apple iPhone earbuds are decent and not too expensive. They are not great for iPod music, but will work just fine for podcasts or Pandora streaming. They are a definite improvement in sound over the old iPod earbuds. They have a more balanced sound and are not as fatiguing as the harsh tinny iPod earbuds.

The OLD iPhone (1st gen) had a recessed plug, so you needed a little adapter.

I use the "in ear" iphone headphones, because I want the three buttons and the microphone. I love 'em.

I just tried a pair and it didn't work. A quick google search shows that the jack is a normal size but somewhat recessed so some work and some don't

Quote:
The size of the metal part of the headphone jack is 3.5mm but it is recessed into the iphone. If the casing around the outside of the metal part of the jack is too large it will prevent the jack from fully entering the jack on the iphone.

I couldnt use my sony earbud's that i used to use on my ipod photo because the jack was bent at 90 degrees and didnt allow it to go into the iphone jack completely.

The Sennheiser PX100s (aka God's gift to portable headphones) are compatible with the recessed jack. You can even get them in white. Apple used to sell them on their own website. Amazon has 'em.

Now that I have a netbook, chances are the above post was written while on the toilet.

I'll second the recommendation for the Sennheiser PX100s. super-portable, and they sound awesome.

I bought a pair of Sony phones for under $10 that are serviceable. They have a "bend" in the headphone jack, but it works just fine with my 2G iPhone.

I really like my Sennheiser CX400 earbuds. They sound fantastic for below $100 and are on sale for $40 quite often. The two-piece cable design seems like it would work well with those third party iPhone mic cable adapters.

Seconded. For the price and size, they sound fantastic. They're not ultra-durable, but they're not flimsy either. Just don't throw them into the bottom of a bag with heavy books on top unless they're in the case.

I am not sure you people know how cheap I am! I found this pair for $5. Probably not great, probably not even good but I hope they will work for listening to a podcast while walking around on my lunch hour.
