[GA] Suggestion: Heal the Tank...
1. This isn't WoW its Global Agenda
2. As such, the combat is much more organic
a. Its faster
b. Situations change faster and more often
3. Line of sight is critical for healing.
a. When you duck around a corner it breaks the beam.
b. When you back up behind me, it breaks the beam.
c. When team members criss cross between me and you, its difficult to target the one getting damaged
4. The healing beam has a very short range
a. When you charge into a room, I have to run in after you, making us both vulnerable to grenades and rockets
b. When you jet pack, it is very easy to get out of range
5. Healers do run out of energy.
a. When they do, often times it will switch targets.
b. It can make it difficult to re-target you
6. The Assault class is not necessarily a tank
7. If you don't bring both your invulnerable abilities, as an assault, you are not an effective tank
8. If your ranged invulnerability is at level 1 or 2 because you wanted to bring along spider mines, you are not an effective tank
9. Your ranged invulnerability is not effective against rockets and grenades
10. Every class has damage reduction talents making them just as effective as you when your invulnerables are on cooldown
11. Robotics players that bring a rank 3 or 4 force shield can be more effective tanks
a. They can shield the whole team
b. They can last longer than 10 seconds
c. They work against rockets and grenades
d. They don't block line of sight for your team mates
12. Robotics high rank turrets are better tanks than you
a. It works great if there are no healers in the group
b. They distract enemies from targeting team mates
13. I want that low death bonus too
a. I won't stop topping off other teammates
b. You charging ahead while your teammates are struggling hurts just as much as that long necked recon in a blood frenzy
14. If I wasn't doing my job as a healer
a. Everyone, including you, would have a much harder time being so reckless
b. We wouldn't have killed the medium security boss with 7-8 minutes left on the timer
c. We wouldn't have had a chance at the low death bonus going into the boss battle
15. Play a healer before you gripe
a. There are a lot of really bad ones out there that actually don't heal at all (and I can see why if this is how the good ones are treated)
b. It much more hectic and difficult than you think
c. You'll appreciate sniping more
d. You'll learn a lot about other classes
e. You'll learn to appreciate the skilled players of other classes that make your job easier
f. Everybody makes mistakes
g. The healer is responsible for everyone else's mistakes, including the healer's

QQ Noob! L2Heal!
I kid, but here are some quick rules for healing in any game that I live by:
1) Heal whoever you want to. You see two players, one obviously knows what he is doing while the other continually suicides. Heal the smart player, don't promote the suiciding maniac.
2) If someone complains about your healing, stop healing them. If you're out of combat and they run up to you at 1 health asking for a heal, just sit there and do nothing. Hell, use the /sit macro. If there is one thing I can't stand it's people who blame you for their stupidity. Don't stand for it.
I might be an elitist when I'm healing, but following these rules has allowed me to play most games as a healer stress free. And most of the good players on your team will thank you for the extra attention as you no longer have to waste time on the noob.

Ran a medic up to 10th in beta. Ran each of the other three classes to 21 or 22. Healing in GA is even more annoying than most MMOs.

The flip side of sanity is the game.
Yah, but all of my QQing aside, it can be really fun too. I guess I just got unusually bent out of shape because it was someone who didn't have a clue who was frustrated with the others who didn't have a clue and blamed me for not giving him preferential treatment. I mean the other guys were reckless but they got themselves out of their own trouble and came limping back to me in a safe area. Or if they died, they just sucked it up. This other guy really thought he was a tank and just ran his minigunned ass into a pack of 5 bots supported by a healer droid and expected me to negate the damage he was taking. I don't know how the level variation works in GA but he went down in 2 seconds. If i was able to maintain a stream on him, he would have lasted 3. It was a mixed level group. The highest was 14. I was 11. The other guy was 10 and the supposed "tank" assault was 8. I don't know if I can chalk it up to just level difference though. The enemies chewed through all of us like the proverbial hot knife through butter.
I guess I should just follow suit with what the other good players I've come across with are doing. The first few minutes, they sort of size you up as a healer. Then once they figure out that you know what your doing they start to press forward and often do crazy things, yet survive. This kind of chaos, I find fun and the whole team usually gets rewarded with stories to tell. And they usually survive because they know their class is meant for something other than getting the biggest gun and pew pew.
And I mean I know numbers aren't all that but, 35k healing is an awful lot of deaths avoided. Its not that 35k is a lot of healing. Its not, especially for medium security. I think the most I've healed for so far is 85k. But that is another story =P
@Tkyl - I was so tempted to not heal him the rest of the fight. I was considering dropping the heal beam for my agony gun and just pew pewing the rest of the mission. But I figured venting on GWJ would be a more constructive route to take =)

Yeah, if you're doing the Security missions, it can be tough to just all together stop healing him. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

So I've been having so much fun with my Robotics that I think I'm going to shelve my Healer and save it for gwjer or other trusted group. Ya, I know I shouldn't let one asshat dictate what class I play, but the most rewarding aspect of this game is how well you contribute to the success of your squad. And I just find that I am doing much more as a Robotics than as a Healer.
