Spring 2010 TV Shows
Friday, January 8th, 2010 - 11:49am
It's the new year, so the fall thread is getting long in the tooth. This next season is going to have some wonky scheduling thanks to the Olympics, but there are some new shows just around the corner and the second halves of the fall seasons sprinkled here and there.
If that's not enough, a topic for discussion: with Dollhouse winding-down at last, will Joss Whedon finally give up and start making shows on cable where they might have a better shot at success?

Does Caprica crank up sometime soon? I'm hoping to catch it via Hulu like we did Warehouse 13. But imagine I may end up springing for it via XBL.
I think The Mentalist and Fringe are both set for great runs. Dollhouse is going to try and make a run of it. It will be the final season of Lost. I think it
I'm a bit concerned with how well Criminal Minds is going to finish up with this season. It is probably my safest bet to provide exactly what I want out of a show every week. It is smart and somewhat intense drama. It has the ability to get pretty damn dark at times, and generally avoids the traps of trying to get too cute. But the first half of this season did find them getting a little carried away. But the show is so consistent that I will probably watch and enjoy its entire run, even if it begins to just tread water like Law and Order. It's at a pretty high level to tread water.

I know, it's sad that I never gave a damn about Tim Tebow. And he never gave a damn about me.
Did that have a satisfying conclusion? I'm not sure if I just missed it in the Fall thread.
He kind of shot himself in the foot there several times, by my estimate. I can't blame Fox in the same way I did for Firefly. I watched a little into season two and it careened wildly between awesome and painful.
It seems like if he could get a guaranteed 2-3 season commitment, he'd be more willing to take chances and produce the television we crave.
Burn Notice, Leverage, White Collar, and Dark Blue returning are on my list. Huh, those are all TNT, aren't they? Go figure.
Maybe they'll have another 3D episode, now that I snagged these groovy glasses from seeing Avatar.
Edit: Accidental double quote, but I left it because it made me laugh.
"YOU SPOIL, YOU GET SPOILED! AAAAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Burn Notice and White Collar are USA. Saddest part about Dollhouse was that it wasn't Firefly. Such a cool idea. Oh well, no use crying over spilt milk. I look forward to Leverage. Also, I'm not sure what's up with how SyFy does stuff, but I'm also looking forward to Warehouse 13 and Eureka as well, but who knows when they'll air it. Also, SGU returns at some point as well.
edit* How the hell could I forget Castle? That, Modern Family, and Better Off Ted are my Network TV choices. mumble mumble and NCIS mumble mumble.

There's a new episode (maybe two) tonight, and then I think it has one episode left to wrap things up. To their credit, the producers are at least attempting to wrap up their plot threads and go out with a bang.

Pretty comprehensive list of midseason shows with premier dates here.
Me? Looking forward to Lost, Damages, and Caprica. Glad that we get more new Castle, How I Met Your Mother, and Big Bang Theory, too.

For me, It's all about Fringe, Burn Notice, Leverage, Chuck and Bones.
Fringe looks like it's starting up on the 11th with another on the 14th?.
Bones also starts up on the 14th.
Fringe is (for me) the best show on television - Anna Torv is all sorts of awesome and John Noble is simply unmatched when it comes to crazy. Burn Notice is a close second (Bruce Campbell!) and I like the others I listed, but if I had to pick and choose...

House and Grey's Anatomy are what I am looking forward. Also to Survivor (at least until all the hot girls are kicked off).

Coldforged: This is merely conjecture, but I'd hazard that a bareboobed alien with a toothcooter is almost certainly NSFW.
For me its Burn Notice, Lost, modern family. I will watch Heroes because I've been so invested in it but I'm not expecting anything special.
I would like to watch Stargate but they came up with the boneheaded move of making it return in April. WTF
My fiance and I are about to finish up Dexter season 3. Awesome show.

Caprica is some time this month right? I'll check that out although I fully expect it to bomb. (Edit: January 22 premier)
Oh, and Breaking Bad is coming back, right?

Has there been any sort of radical new change in the Fringe formula lately? I saw most of the first season and didn't care for it much.
I have a handful of shows that I watch on TV. Lost, 24 and Burn notice are some of those. The rest life House, Heroes, Family guy, modern family and the like I watch on Hulu while I work.

Yes. Yes, I do.
Season 1 was really about fleshing out the basics, Season 2 is where the show really hit its stride and totally won me over.

Same here! It was well worth the watch since I had missed a lot because I was still dedicated to Heroes. But since I have up the season before last, I figured I'd catch up on Chuck.
I'm also looking forward to the 20th Anniversary of Simpsons. I may not watch it very often, but I do at least watch the milemarker episodes when I get the chance.

I think that she spawned in the fall, so she should be coming back soonish. All depends on how long she decided to take off. That being said, I am pretty sure that they filmed all of her parts earlier when she was less pregnant. In addition, Katherine Heigel (Izzie) is taking some time off to be with her adopted daughter. Meredith not being there doesn't bother me. She really has very little range and her face has a look of constipation. Izzie, OTOH, will be a big hit to the show. I am just glad that the actor that plays Korev is getting a chance to show more range and ability. And damn, has he been providing, in spades.

I remember seeing an ad for a show possibly called Justice during one of the final episodes of SoA. It looked really cool. I've been keeping it on the back burner. Anyone know anything about it? Supposed to air on FX sometime this spring I believe.
Also, anyone know when Deadliest Catch is supposed to start again? My boss called me last night wondering. My Google-Fu failed me. I'm sure I could still get some brownie points if I find out soon though.

It's an easy punchline anymore, but I can't resist the siren call of 24.
I think it's called Justified, and it has Tim Olyphant. Any show with a Wire alum or Deadwood alum gets at least 1 ep of my time.

I have never understood all the interest in Fringe. I watched most of the first season and didnt like it much. After reading all the fans here I thought maybe I was missing something and went back to it a few times. Still didn't like it. My biggest gripe was that it always seemed to try to hard to be wierd. Kinda like those teenage comedies that try too hard to be vulgar, or those horror movies that try to hard to be gory. Fringe just tries too hard to make the viewer say.. "huh?"
Or so it seems to me, I understand that I am wrong since so many people like it. I just wish i understood so that i could appreciate it too

Indeed, Justin Chambers aka Karev, is getting some well deserved screen time. He has a lot of talent--especially since I remember him being in The Wedding Planner as the Italian guy, Massimo. It's good to see his character develop.

I believe David Simon's new show, "Treme" starts this spring on HBO. So definitely one to check out.

I just saw it listed as "TBA April", so I'm excited. I'll have to get creative, unfortunately, because I don't have HBO anymore--it was an easy expense to justify in the Sopranos/Deadwood/Wire era, much harder when the best I could muster about their best show was "interesting".
