Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers: Wii: More Subtitles Needed: Catch All
I have to say, every time I see something new about this game, it looks better. Recently both Gametrailers and IGN did video previews of their review copies and the game looks interesting from that. Also, check out the more recent trailer, which gives off a better indication of the more serious moments of the game. They're even calling the game Zelda-esque. I'm quite intrigued.
So this game is coming out the day after Christmas in America, which is another insane decision, the first being the title against this game. I really wonder how a name a mile long and a non-traditional release date will affect this game in sales on a console already having trouble selling games to serious gamers.
Any one else here looking forward to this game?

I'm sorry but the Crystal Chronicles games are dead to me after the awful Echoes of Time on the Wii. Quickest way to kill a brand? Port a DS game to the Wii, and design it so both the DS screens are on the screens AT ALL TIMES. Really? Who ever made that decision should be fired, and then shot.

I might be interested in it, I'm going to wait and read the reviews. What I loved about the original Crystal Chronicles was the multiplayer, which stands to reason as it was a central focus of the game. So far all my Online experiences on the Wii have been less than satisfactory, so I'll want assurance that this game:
A - Has an online mode.
B - Said online mode actually works.
That will spark interest.

My wife is playing through the first CC, that came out for the Gamecube, on our Wii now. She plays it solo, and really enjoys it. This would be a great Christmas gift!

I'll probably get this game. It sounds interesting, plus I've always been a fan of the FFCC series. Granted, I didn't play Echoes of Time because it's part of my backlog list.

1. From what I've gathered this is a single player game. A Final Fantasy sandbox game, apparently. The Crystal Chronicles stopped being exclusively multiplayer somewhere along the line. If there is any multiplayer it'll most likely be playing minigames with couch-pals.
2. What's the last Wii game you gave a try online? Most of them nowadays, especially third party games, are painless.
Anyway, I'm probably going to pick this up with whatever gift cards I end up getting. The graphics look gorgeous, especially for that system. I've been playing Shadow of the Colossus lately because I felt I'd missed out on something special (I did, as it turns out), and the god awful visuals really make me resent people that say Wii games look like PS1 games. The seemingly light-hearted nature of the entire production, and the self-referential humor looks to be a nice change from Square's trademark melodrama, and should get me in a good enough mood for FF13 to ruin come March.
Bad reviews (actually bad, not just middling 6.5s) might steer me away, but I'm looking forward to it because it seems very much like a Zelda game, an itch I've developed and haven't had scratched in almost three years.
Also, I really dig the box art now that I look at it.
I probably won't pick it up full price unless it turns out amazing. This and MHTri are the Japanese 3rd party games for Wii I'm most interested in.
If that's not sarcasm I'm sure I could point your flame to other things in gaming, or point you to the politics forum.

Yay, it's a single player thing as far as I can tell, and the use of Wii pointer and motion controls are very well placed from what I've seen. They even have a skydiving shooting sequence in the early part of the game (see the preview for that) which looks to set the tone for how they've approached the Wii's unique controls as opportunities, and not trappings.
Also, the whole no weapon in hand, using the crystal power to attack and throwing environmental pieces / enemies around thing looks like a lot of fun and totally unique.

I'm guessing you never played played the Wii version then.

My point was you're taking your hatred of one game out on a franchise.

And you're trying to defend a game that even hasn't come out yet, based on the franchise. I used to be a fan of the franchise, but the last game of the series unexcusedably sucked. If they were willing to screw gamers over the last time, why should I expect it to be any different this time? Oh wait, that's right they just expect me to suck it, drink the cool-aid, and keep giving them money, all because it has the words Crystal Chronicles in the title.

I made a point about your opinion which I don't think suggested I was defending this title. If it did then there was miscommunication.
If you're intent on placing blame I think it'd be more effective for your personal boycott to investigate exactly who you're disgruntled with, instead of an innocuous 'they' and 'them.' Do you know specifically if the developers of Echoes of Time are working on The Crystal Bearers?

And the last one being a crap port was why I wasn't too interested in this one, either. Yet, as I've seen more media and for some reason watched it, I've been more convinced that they are really putting a good effort into this one.
I think if you (Wizkid) go check out some of the more recent media (maybe you have and you're still not convinced) and then the original reveal you might see this one is different. It's advanced it's look quite a bit in the 3 1/2 years since that first E3 trailer. Between that, an inventive real time combat system and the voice acting I see much promise in this one.

Yes I'm kinda FFied-out, but the preview movies look pretty good, actually. I also will wait to see what reviews it gets. But I am still interested, even after getting burnt by Echoes of Time on the Wii.

Alright so some reviews are coming in and it seems the consensus is a decent game hampered by some funny control issues and bad camera controls.
Oddly, gametrailers says it's only a 10 hour adventure, and ign says it's a 20-30 hour one. I'm guessing the main plot may be done in 10 hours if that's all you do.
Features/things to note:
No real RPG elements - it's an adventure game
Mini-games like Chocobo racing are fun
non final fantasy convoluted style story and less emo characters (gametrailers)
tons and tons of side quests
very few and short load times
open world to explore
solo play only
no weapons, just 3 accessory slots for equipping
looks amazing (didn't here 'for wii' in the GT review)
some voices / lines are poorly executed
item creation w/ random chance for better results ('miracle items')
game includes in game screenshot tool
timed battles - enemies fade at the end and they're then gone until respawn
combat not a big focus like other games with final fantasy name (ign)
map, shmap!
Chocobos bolt the instant you dismount - problem when you want to stop for a random reason
Audio ranges from great to wtf.
Still, all the video footage I see with the video reviews make me like it more, except so of the voice work. 6s & 7s if you're interested in the numbers.

I'll squeeze this in between the pile on my back burner.
